I love 160 meters! I was going to make a coil to run mobile. A long time ago 160 was used like the 2 meter band. Contrary to popular ham belief, it is really the only band that has a strong/reliable ground wave. Usually even works when the sun wipes out every other NVIS band for local/semi regional coms. I wish more lower power stations would get on it. There is always plenty of elbow room down there. I was able to get some contacts on my big loop for that contests but none outside of the USA. Thanks for the video.

I plan on going down the 160 "rabbit hole" next winter. I'll be working on a full-wave loop towards the end of the summer.

In my experience with the 35 zoom if you take that center freq it gives you on a band sweep and go a bit narower either side you will get a more accurate result. Good looing setup.

Great review. I have the same antenna connected directly to my ft991a but couldn't get it to tune. 😢

Wowww you got across the pond on 100 watts with that? Cool I actually just ordered one the day before I saw this video. I have a mfj 939 auto tune.

Got the antenna yesterday and took it out of the box today. What an antenna!! Kinda heavy and I think I know how to mount it. I have the comet hatchback type mount heavy duty. Mount it at the bottom of the rear door on my suv. Get one of those marine antenna stand off and wedge it between the door and antenna along with some guy rope at top of roof so it don't sway side to side and the standoff will keep it snug fore and aft. I don't think the mount itself will hold it by itself.

Get it as high and clear of the vehicle body as you can. Let's try to make a contact one night when you get it installed.

@n5yiz I do have a 22 inch mast from comet I could add on. But I don't want to drill any holes in the body yet.

After ive seen how big and looks heavy, im gonna figure out how to come up with a standoff bracket to keep that antenna from swaying too much on my comet bracket. I was planning to try it out while driving to and from work on my overnight shift. Im using hustler resonators on the 22 inch mast. Main concern is it swaying too much towards the suv. As far as swaying outward, i just tie fishing line or quarter inch line around the antenna.
