Congrats to Mark and the GTN team for showing us how to burn off holiday excesses, and thanks for the wonderful, and importantly FREE, content that was produced in the last year. Long may it continue...Happy Christmas!!!!!
Come on guys it’s Christmas 🎄..don’t be party poopers I’m sure you can burn 5000 calories in no time..merry Xmas to you all and keep on delivering the quality information in 2020 , much appreciated and a happy new year I’m off down the pub to put on 5000 calories 🍺🍺🍺🍺
if we are grading the winner by best faces made, i'd say Heather wins it hands down. no one makes better suffer faces than Heather! lol! great job by all of you though!
If you remove all of Heather's transition times, I reckon she'd have done it in 2 hours 19 minutes. However, thank you so much all of you for the inspiration to not lard around on boxing day!!! Merry Christmas to all! Really liked the personal camera work by Fraser.
I really enjoy your videos with tips on triathlon. As Christmas eater, though, you are absolute beginners. In Italy you get 2300 kcal just with side dishes, I won't even attempt to compute the whole amount 😂
Love, love this video! I'm watching it at 5am in the morning to get motivation to go out for a brick session to burn off my cold cut/cheese/wine dinner last night!
GTN Presenters: We did a 1000 calorie challenge Me: These guys are crazy !!!! GTN Presenters: Hold my Christmas Dinner !!!!!!! PS: I did burn a few calories myself laughing at you guys. Great & hilarious content. Can't appreciate you guys enough for slogging for over 2 hours (3 hrs in case of Heather) to produce content for under 15 mins. Merry Christmas to everyone at GTN !!!!
Not related to calories but I swam my fastest 2k for the year on the 26th Dec. I'm 58yo and my average 100m over 2K is 1:38 (32:30 roughly) but did consistent 1:36 for a time of 31:56. That's on the back of hosting the family Christmas dinner, 2 full servings, pudding, mince tarts, a few beers and a couple of red wines. How can this be explained? I think I found a new taper technique :)
Where does the myth that you burn more calories if it's warm come from? It's exactly the opposite because the metabolism goes way down if you are hot to try and keep you cool
I kept waiting for them to point out that what Heather was doing was a joke. Being warm doesn't burn more calories, and causing yourself to overheat will destroy your power output and cause you to burn considerably fewer calories overall.
I like these videos. But also remember our BMR. Don't need to exercise everything we eat. Also worried some may take it to the extreme. I did with advice from biggest loser. Xmas is one day. Enjoy it. Just don't over do it. mindful eating. Enjoy the celebration but don't eat mindlessly
parker kerth exactly my thoughts as I’m watching now, surely she’s just going to sweat more, can’t imagine she’ll burn calories quicker that way, it all depends on intensity right?
They could burn it off much more enjoyably (or at least much less painfully) in, say, 3 days instead of 1 (while eating at maintenance ofc). Won't make as clickable of a youtube video perhaps tho.
Something is wrong with your calculations or unit conversion, puppies! 2200 kcal is my basal metabolic rate and my recommended daily calorie intake is 5000 kcal...
would NOT wonder if some of the guys burn more muscle!! NOT FAT!,,,for luck..........its not my body : ) I would never risk to burn hard earned muscles....just for a short "FAT" Cut------what is in the end..more muscle loss. Is it really worth it ??? make your own thoughts
Yes it does. Studies have been conducted to show that the body Burns's more calories trying to cool down than it does trying to warm up. Therefore, if two people do the exact same excises in two different trustees, the one in the higher temperature climate will bun more calories. There's plenty off info or there on this subject.
I don't approve this message since it's not what you eat during christmas that matters but what you eat the entire rest of the year. If your training and eating habits cannot account for a christmas dinner you are not doing it correctly. For me the winner is Fraser since he was the only one enjoying the workout and not having bad thought about having eaten more than usually, he should have laugh more to reduce the time...maybe running with a comedian would have helped!
"Average holiday weight gain is 0.37 kg, far less than commonly asserted. As this gain is not reversed during spring or summer months, the net 0.48 kg fall/winter weight gain appears likely to contribute to the increase in body weight that frequently occurs during adulthood." www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4336296/

i gotta give this a thumbs up for the hardwork (and sweat) you have done. enjoyed the video! well done GTN team!

Tony Thomas 🥵🥵🥵
Challenges are the best :)! You are a sports version of Top Gear :D, the camera and action... great show :)!
Thanks for a good laugh guys!! (and the calorie burn, LOL)

Mark looked like he was going easy compared to Heather and Fraser but still manages to win! I think I got my Christmas workout just watching this one.
I think Fraser looked a lot less in pain.
Love, love this video! I'm watching it at 5am in the morning to get motivation to go out for a brick session to burn off my cold cut/cheese/wine dinner last night!
You are crazy guys!! Glad I found this channel, Merry Xmas to all of you
Bit harsh on Heather as she burns calories slower than the other 2. Fair play to her as she's having to put in far more work for equal results.
Nick Tarry absolutely. We did suggest she did less, but she is too competitive 😂
Merry Christmas everybody. I love you guys, you are an inspiration.
Happy Holidays! Thank you for this eye opener video..
Worry less about what you eat beteween christmas and new-year, than what you eat between new-year and christmas.

Merry Christmas to everyone at GTN !!!!
guys, perfect DIETARY video. I am already sure my Xmass dinner will include ONLY boiled veggies ;-)
My plan for the 365 next days
I plan on eating enough for several adults. Il worry later
Was thinking with that much wind "running" that a newer Stryd that measured wind power would be interesting to compare. :)

This makes me want to go running.
I was waiting for mark to sneak off to the sauna to burn off the calories :p Apparently he didnt need it!
1h38 for 21k, just casual. Nuts. Si Richardson from GCN did a 10k calories challenge a while ago. Now that is brutal.
Best way to burn 2200 calories is the 7% setting on indoor trainer. Just grind away in the small ring. About 3.5-4hrs of of sitting and its done.
Where does the myth that you burn more calories if it's warm come from? It's exactly the opposite because the metabolism goes way down if you are hot to try and keep you cool
A swim outdoors would do the trick quickly.
Funny GTN Show 😃
Did they add the calories from the Gum to the 2000 ?
If not this result is not right.
#MeToo Kudos to Heather for closing the gender Calorie Burn Gap

what was the point of increasing the heat in the room?
parker kerth exactly my thoughts as I’m watching now, surely she’s just going to sweat more, can’t imagine she’ll burn calories quicker that way, it all depends on intensity right?
I laughed so much!
Is it wired being an American and watching this? Happy Christmas? And WTF are the green things on their head? #HonestQuestions

We do not need to justify eating. Exercise should never be used as a punishment. Appreciate this is all good clean fun but it sends the wrong message.
One hours waterpolo training would probably do it :)
Layers don't burn calories.
Well i dont eat meat anyway but il probably eat enough roast potatoes to sink a ship
No way are the 2200 calories on those plates.
Less or more?
Hey I gave a like
You all are gluttons (for punishment) that is!! =) Fun show.
those are kilocalories, puppies. The letter k in front of the unit is not a decoration...
You calling me fat?
Unpopular opinion:
Pigs in Blankets are crap
🤭🤭🤭🤭
I hate to say this but English food does not look appetizing!
Everybody knows this a joke right?
Do you have a video featuring vegan triathletes?
Something is wrong with your calculations or unit conversion, puppies! 2200 kcal is my basal metabolic rate and my recommended daily calorie intake is 5000 kcal...

If you’re not a distance person, then don’t do this.
The idea of “burning off” a holiday meal is a big part of toxic diet culture. Good job, GTN. 🤦♀️
I guess we found that one person who is always looking for a reason to be offended.
Heat doesn't burn calories. Jesus.
Yes it does. Studies have been conducted to show that the body Burns's more calories trying to cool down than it does trying to warm up. Agreed. Being hot will result in a higher RPE for a given intensity which will result in less work being done and fewer calories burned.
The premise of this show is irritating and insulting.

I love this people really don't realise how many calories are in what they are eating any time of the year let alone christmas :)
