Love the seafoam green. I love both the color shifting original finish and this refinish Ignore the haters. I refinished a cheap Jackson JS227 last year. Spray painted over the original matte lightish black paint a darker gloss black. Looks way cooler now.
Dude... NO! What the actual fuck?! I own the same guitar, and the finish on it phenomenal and what makes it so unique. You just spray painted it the color of some stupid Telecaster... To watch you desecrate this guitar made my heart sink.
What I wanna refinish is the gloss black hardware; when combined with the super cool pickup finish, the bridge and tuners look "starter guitar" to me, and I can't fathom why they did that, especially since Ibanez usually does such a top-tier job on the hardware aesthetics. Thanks for making this video! I'm considering buying this model, and it's real useful to see how it's all put together!
Yes. I agree with you. I couldn't understand why they decided to go with brushed aluminum pickups and a chrome pick up selector switch right next to a black volume knob and a sort of black bridge. Lol. It looks weird. I'm considering powder coating as much of the hardware as I can to make things look a little more pleasing to me. Regardless of the cosmetic weirdness of it, it is an awesome guitar. The neck is perfect and pickups are very powerful. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, Bobby! I do like the Fishman pickups, but I really don't have a whole lot of experience with different pickups to compare them to anything else. The Fishman are definitely loud and produce some heavy sounds...and they're not bad, but also not so great in the clean sounds. I bet those Tosin pickups sound amazing. I've always been more of a bass player, but I'm trying to get better at guitar too.
After years of playing like $400 guitars this one was my first ever "Big Purchase" guitar and for the two years I've had it I've never played a guitar I liked more. This is killer. Now to get that RGD71ALPA charcoal finish with the BKPs 👏
Haha thanks!...And you're absolutely right. I did like the original paint job a lot, when I first got it, but I quickly grew tired of it. Also, I bought this one blemished, so there were some weird rough spots in the paint anyway.
The neck is actually quite thin and smooth which is one of my favorite things about all the Ibanez guitars and basses I've played. I have not had any problems at all with the bridge for palm muting, but I'm also not a very good guitarist. Someone that is much more technical than I am might have more specific critiques about it.
Hello, very nice video and project! I have that guitar as well, and i have a question to a fellow RGD71ALMS owner. Can you tell me which tool is used to adjust the truss rod? I somehow threw the manual etc. away, and i cant seem to find a tool that fits and makes sense...
Hello and thank you! The truss rod tool is basically just a small steel rod that should have, hopefully, been in a little plastic bag when you got the guitar. It doesn't really look like a tool so it can be easy to over look. The truss adjustment "wheel" is at the base of the neck between the neck pickup and the neck. Hopefully this helps.
Yeah man that sea foam looks sick, specially with the dark woods used for the neck. I was cracking up at the oversized logo but I actually dig that too. It looks much better, can't stand that chrome illusion or chameleon paint, it looks like the color some 60 year old would paint his overpowered Harley he never rides haha.
amazing colour and the idea of LARGER ibanez logo is just what the doctor ordered, but, well, the initial manufactured finish was just okay to replace it that fast before it's cracked and scratched to the "flesh", and I wonder how long would it last if it wasn't removed by sanding etc and let unlaquered

Thank you!
I didn’t see that coming!!! So rad
Thanks!

i think the original colouring looked good at first and thought " he's gonna ruin it". other way around, i love the seafoam green look, awesome job
Thank you so much!
Came out great, and I love the oversized logo. Do you like the Fishman Modern pickups? I have the Tosin set in my 8-string
Thanks, Bobby! I do like the Fishman pickups, but I really don't have a whole lot of experience with different pickups to compare them to anything else.

Lol mine comes in the mail on Tuesday I’m stoked this same guitar!!
Nice! It's a great guitar. I think you'll like it. 🤘🏻
for everyone out there please dont do this kind of monstrosity, the guitar it self is already well finish.
eh...
I wasn’t sure about the color scheme but I dig it! Nice riffing too!
Thanks, man! I appreciate it 🤘🏻
That guitar sounds menacing!

This is definitely the most expensive guitar I've bought, but it's worth every penny. Thanks for watching!
sick makeover! But calling the aurora burst finish ugly? c'mon man you know that shit ain't true :D

Nice video man! Did you sand the finish after the 4 coats of matte clear?
mine as well have put on a supreme sticker on it lol
Does this guitar have a fat neck or problems with the bridge settles being to sharp for the palm mutes?

@@TecnicusStreetStudios thank you very much, that helped a lot! 🤘
@@andreaselgaard Excellent! You're welcome!
Duuuude! That came out so good! Glad you’re making new videos. The soundtrack was badass!
Thank you, Arron!!

what brand of spray paint did you use? would you be able to provide a link as well?
Blasphemy.
Hahaha 👹

Thank you! I actually bought this guitar already a little damaged. It had some blemishes in the paint and most of the hardware was kinda loose.
Facepalm... no comment
why
Because it's mine and I wanted to.
Hell No!!!
