    On Monday, I just randomly found one on an old apple tree right next to the bike path.
    I assumed that it would be a great area for a little owl, but since there's only 3 confirmed breeding pairs in my county, I didn't really expect to find one.

    Some absolutely amazing footage and images Paul but in my opinion, I think you are feeding them too much. I don’t want to be the Owlet Police but at this stage, the parents should be teaching the owlets to hunt. They may become dependent on the meal worms and will not develop the adequate hunting skills to survive. Photography of the owls shouldn’t be more important than the welfare of the subjects.

    • @paulfowlie1966
      @paulfowlie1966  Год назад +2

      With anyone that knows me the animals welfare always comes first, once the Owls fledge the nest that's it the chicks don't come back as I stop feeding them so they don't get over fed I can promise you that, also the Jackdaws come down and pinch probably 70% of it
      I don't feed the Owls all year, just until they leave the nest them it's upto them to learn and be taught how to hunt from their parents, I actually watched one get a mouse just a few days ago

      @@paulfowlie1966 Richard Birchett is a good starter as he has held licences to cover Scheduled 1 birds including a special license to photograph them at the nest. Also there’s Simon Eardley who has held a license and both have helped me with advice re Scheduled 1 birds and birds of prey at nest sites. Simon Wantling has had done many projects photographing Little Owls and all of three of them have You Tube channels. Also Robert Fuller is well known on the BBC and You Tube for his live Birds of Prey streams. Good luck for the future.
