ACTION STRINGS 2 combines the heart-stopping tension of violin and viola, with the deep, warming tones of cello and bass. Two separately configurable ensembles, low and high, give you anything from delicately emotive melodies to ominous blasts of power. New bow attack compensation technology also delivers an ultra-realistic playing experience, while the dynamics envelope control lets you draw in bold sweeps, from subtle diminuendos all the way to towering crescendos.

Great idea, fantastic design and practicality, and I would really LOVE to have a useful instrument like that... if only the actual recording/sound was good. I'm really sorry to say this, I don't know if it's the room you were in (that would be my guess), or the mic placement(s) or what, but in my humble opinion it just sounds really muffled, "closed" or "boxy", and rather cheap. Or if nothing else, the sound (recording) is at least not to my taste at all. I guess I might buy it at some point anyway, try and see if I can maybe EQ the bajeezus out of it, or see how will it sound buried in the rest of the mix. But this video and demos on your website really don't sound too promising. I'm really sorry, I know it's not nice to read such comment after all the work that must've gone into making this, but among all the happy hobbyist who will surely love this thing, I believe you should hear my honest opinion too. And maybe consider recording at a different place next time. Especially at the stage you are already at - you aren't newbies, you made good stuff before, and I'm quite sure you could afford to do it better. Or maybe this just isn't targeted at me - if so, then so be it, fair enough! ;) All the best to you all, and thank you for your other instruments, some of which I happen to use quite a lot!

I see you've copied and pasted this same comment on both this walkthrough and the version on the Native Instruments site to make sure your opinion is heard. I can assure you, as a user of the product for almost a month, it sounds pretty good to me. Shame you don't personally rate the sound in these demos. Perhaps one of the 5 mic positions will be more to your liking?

@@ReubenCornell Hi Reuben, thanks for taking time to reply. Yes, I do hope my comment is heard, because barely anyone (especially professionals) have any criticism to share in the current climate, no matter how constructive and civilized such criticism would be. I am totally open to the possibility that all is good, and the sound is simply not to my personal taste - it would then merely be my subjective opinion. But if my taste is worth anything, and the sound really isn't that great objectively, plus such opinion is shared by more people, then I think both Sonuscore and NI should have such feedback. And not just because there might actually be more people with such opinions, who choose to say nothing, but mostly because if there is ANY objective validity in my comment, then I'd like them to know that people do notice and care if you try to do things cheaply (if that's even the case, and I obviously can't know for sure so I'm not accusing them of that). If, however, that would happen to be why it sounds the way it does, then I don't want them to have the argument of "last time we recorded at XYZ and nobody complained, people were happy, they bought it, so why spend more money?". So that's why I want to be heard. I'm happy for you that you're fine with how it sounds, good for you, but I simply expected better from Sonuscore, and especially with NI and their support. Finally, to answer your point, after hearing different mics demonstrated in this video, I guess the close ones might sound a bit better than the farther ones, but they aren't that great either, and most importantly, the point of being in a recording room and having those mic positions, is for them to sound good and be useful - instead of just using the most dry and putting them through our own reverbs to add better acoustics. I was very much hoping AS2 would happen one day, and was looking forward to have that kind of customization options that this instrument clearly provides - that's brilliant! But that's why I'm disappointed - I imagine they came a long way since AS1, so now AS2 should really be amazing! And from what I've heard so far, even though on paper it does look amazing because the functionality is great indeed, the sound itself just isn't good enough for my use. Maybe I'll give it a shot when it's 50% off, and you know what, if I try it and it ends up sounding decent and useful enough (for me) after all, I promise I will get back to you right here and publicly admit you were right, I was wrong and the instrument is awesome after all. Thanks for reading and all the best!

"tweak these phrases to your own needs" you're not tweaking shit with this library, you are limited VERY heavily with what is already played. Do not get this kontakt library if you don't want to truly create your own scores. Id recommend an actual sampled string library where you can actually be creative and create your own stuff
