Didn't NHRA kill Modified eliminator 40 years ago (one of the best group of classes ever). Oh, news flash! New class mega buck (like all NHRA classes) for sportsman racers. In a few years yes factory show down will fall by the way side just as the pro stock trucks did . What do you expect Greg's new car is close to 300 thousand dollars turn key and probably going into the high 6"s off the trailer. They will redistribute the other car's back down into the Super Stock ranks and rule book them to death to slow them down ( for a while). I say that because of the grey area racing that exists today. I started in the early 80s in Super Stock trust me there are no better tech's than in the lower Sportsman's. Greg was a Super Stock racer for years long before going to pro stock He is one of the best From The 80s 90s

The NHRA is dying. They have always favored. certain teams and brands. Factory x is supposed to save them? They already have slanted things. Chevy uses one kind of blower, Ford and MOPAR another. Ford runs the smallest engine, and it is by a lot of cu in. They made Ford go from turbos to s/c. The NHRA has long factored Ford and MOPAR. Not my words but racers words. They made Glidden carry more weight, Sox and Martin and others the same. Larry Morgan said of his pro stock Ford, it was a great engine and was very competitive, he qualified for almost every show. And he, LM said it to the wrong people. Certain teams and brands get special favors at the track all the time. I quit going over 20 years ago. Empty seats everywhere, the sponsors will be next to leave.
Calling this car being close to stock is a joke. Remember what happened last time they ran F/X cars and what they morphed in to? Why are all of these "Factory Experimental" cars so bereft of any "factory" parts. It's getting as bad as NASCAR.
I like that class that there going for but you are 💯 percent right, we run all factory parts on our cars and then someone will give you a hard time even if we lighten the car up a little meanwhile you have guys out there racing the grudge cars with open floor panels in the back and no Trans tunnel and even with the fenders and hood off the car out there racing where does it ever stop I'd like to know
You are correct. Randy Daniel's raced prostock truck back in the day. He took a pontiac sunfire factory body and put it on a tube chassis with a small block and a liberty transmission.

To run 5s, the mph would be over 250mph. The snot-rocket mustang is not a 5sec car. 6sec car absolutely.
