Murray Panitz said he used to practice breathing while driving on the freeway. This was in the days of the 55 MPH speed limit. He would take a quick breath as he passed a mile marker,and blow out steadily through slightly pursed lips all the way until the next marker, at which point he would again take another breath and blow out anew. I can’t remember if he said he was driving 60 in a 55mph zone, or if he was doing the speed limit. The year I was the flute teacher at Penn State (a very long time ago-I’m retired-I arranged to have a lesson with Panitz when I went to Philadelphia to visit my mom’s aunt. It turns out he used to live in her apartment building. At the time I had no idea my dad’s family was related by marriage to the Panitz’s in Poland until I met my Panitz cousins.
