@ 3: 02 when Jerry says "I am still here" that was so comforting. Lord Jerry, you are a legendary teacher. I could do anything to have you as my coach.
Opposite side castle games are always my favorite: the frentic pace and emphasis on the initiative makes everything feel tense & the game almost always rides on a knife's edge
In this video I could hear Jerry's pure unadulterated passion for this beautiful game, something I share thanks to this channel. Thanks Jerry! Your channel has changed my life forever.
Thank you very much for your, yet again, very instructive commentary. I'm starting to understand, and love, this game more and more thanks to your excellent work. Cheers mate! 😊👍
I was wondering the same thing, but it was check by the bishop, followed by the queen, and the queen again, but it was not pointed out by the narrator.
For what it's worth: I usually hear "Judit" pronounced as "you-dit", and googling confirms that this is the Hungarian pronunciation. Love the video anyway.
Thanks for the upload, Jerry! I think it is really interesting to see how a super GM and a beginner can make the same move (like hanging a knight), but for vastly different reasons. The beginner simply misses something, but a super GM plays with intention. I just thought that was cool. It is just one of the (many) beautiful things about chess. :)
Oh this video actually appears to be really useful for me. If you don't play g4 you don't have an open file, this is a very important idea which I never thought about before
Boy, I'm watching this for the fifth or so time, and I'm increasingly confident this is my favorite chess video on RUclips. Thanks for finding this gem, Jerry!
I may be mistaken but @8:34 doesn't she have CHECK MATE if she wants it? Why does she drag it out to a game of Pac Man? I may be missing something but I would really like to know the answer... Thanks
I have a question! At minute 9:30 can't he just jump with the knight to f6, then the Queen takes the pawn, then the knight goes e4 hoping that the Queen takes the other pawn so he can go checkmate with the Rook? At least if white doesn't go for the 2nd pawn and moves his own pawn, he can still get some time or make other plays?
Once again, this game is indicative of my chess coach principles: if the opportunity is too good to be true, it usually is! Glad Judith hadn’t gone for the obvious. Oh, and quality commentary. “The Queen will be officially be turned into Pac-Man”.
At 3:45, he could have elaborated that if White tries to interpose with 16. f4, Black will capture that pawn en passant by 16.... gf3 (this time cooking the Queen with some added spices).
I have absolutely no idea who Nona Frie is, so I'll continue thinking Judit is the best female player ever (Hou Yifan may one day be the best female player ever but right now I still think its Judit). That said, excellent game by Judit! That pawn fix was brilliant, allows no shenanigans. ;}
nona fried When you are in a winning position in a time controlled game of chess, rather than moving or resigning your opponent just sits there and lets their clock tick down to 0. Initially used by Chessnetwork "A time ticker! I've been nona fried!"
I actually found the g4 move but did not see all those variations and complications that had to prove g4 works my idea was simply the fact that the h file opens only if black's g pawn is not able to push past, and with Nimzovich's idea, first blockade and then make the pawn lever to open a critical file
Thank you for this. I am quite a bad chess player, and would welcome some education about what is wrong with a move that I am going to suggest could have been made by black around 4.54. I would have thought that, rather than moving his Rook to b8, black could have caused white trouble by moving ...f5. The potential of black threatening white's Bishop and Pawn, and then eventually going through a number of exchanges, could have left the F file open, with blacks kingside Rook in a commanding position, and white's Bishop very probably having been lost in the moves leading to that file being opened up. What am I missing here?
Was there ever a game played between judit and yu fin? (That lady that played chess with Carlson). If so can you do an analysis of that game jerry? If not already.
at 3:45 why is the queen "cooked"? If 15....Bg5, couldn't white play 16. f4, scaring the bishop away? Obviously if bishop takes, queen takes back right away and is safe, and white only loses a pawn.
Black could've played G6 instead but I think White an still attack with H4. She still threatens to open up the H file and Black can't push the F pawn to kick the Knight, because it will fork on E6.
I'm not fan at all of Be7 protecting the knight on f6. I would have played Nb-d7, keeping an eye on h7 in case of exchange. Moreover, the bishop wasn't able to stay on f6 so Black lost tempo there.
I love the thumbnail pic of Judit (her attire is a photo-shopped and stylized chessboard), while also referring to her attacking idea as "beautiful". A little crush? Haha
because then B will capture R on h1 and with all pieces lost except Q white will lose because nothing to support further attack, black willhave time to develop
Literal joy in announcing the moves. That's how you spot a good teacher. Thanks Jerry.
@ 3: 02 when Jerry says "I am still here" that was so comforting. Lord Jerry, you are a legendary teacher. I could do anything to have you as my coach.
Money talks!
Thanks Jerry - that was delightful
"He's soon to be watching things from the sidelines" haha love it
REDRAGON12345 -- Yeah that was classy.
I thought that I knew chess before watching this game.
ive studied and played chess for decades off and on, but you always see something thats just so clever you realize how little you know lol
yeah leatherstrip i felt the same way g4 is a truly astounding move, she sees so far to be able to play like that.
Thanks Jerry.
I would be happy to see more reviews of top games.
You're like sunshine on a rainy day, Jerry. Thanks for sharing this game with us!
I like this series of explaining grandmasters games! ^^
Great game. Great channel. I just discovered these Chess Network videos and I love them. Engaging, entertaining, and informative. Many thanks!
Opposite side castle games are always my favorite: the frentic pace and emphasis on the initiative makes everything feel tense & the game almost always rides on a knife's edge
"You wouldn't believe how fast this A pawn can run." Should we put him up against Usain Bolt for a race?
+Zack Dannawi I actually thought about editing a pic of bolt over the a-pawn ⚡️
Maybe we can have Ellen ride on the pawns back
In this video I could hear Jerry's pure unadulterated passion for this beautiful game, something I share thanks to this channel. Thanks Jerry! Your channel has changed my life forever.
Beautiful game. Also, you seem like a great teacher. Your pacing and clarity is really enjoyable to listen to.
Thank you
Wonderful. Thank you for showing this!
Thanks you Jerry, I am really enjoying this series.
Thank you very much for your, yet again, very instructive commentary.
I'm starting to understand, and love, this game more and more thanks to your excellent work.
Cheers mate! 😊👍
I read ' checkmate ' at the end :))
Beautiful miniature by Judit - and delightfully presented - thank you !
+Lqac Waz Thank you!
You are welcome, and keep up the good work!
Love these uploads Jerry!!!!!! Love from INDIA.
👍
Love your insightful and humorous commentaries ChessNetwork!
Keep 'em coming!!!
A beautiful commentary. Thanks.
I swear, Judit Polgar is IRL Beth Harmon.
Is she a drug addict?
Love the daily uploads!
Thanks to RUclips I can learn from such wonderful teachers
Maybe I'm missing something, but why at 8:53 the queen cannot go for a check mate?
because of check from Black Queen.
whoops, good point
@@cheshire_cat_311 Haha fuck you
I was wondering the same thing, but it was check by the bishop, followed by the queen, and the queen again, but it was not pointed out by the narrator.
@@timhouser It is pointed out actually. He says "bishop takes pawn check", but yeah, I didn't catch it either.
Judith is a beast in chess! Anand once told of her "She's one of Us!"
Nice selection and presentation. Love the follow through on the possible what-ifs.
+John Duncan Thank you JD 😎
Haven't finished the video, but instant like!
Great analysis, and your commentary style is improving. Definitely more engaging this time. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for this!
I’m going back to checkers after finding this channel. And its amazing their are kids who think at this level naturally and on the fly...
For what it's worth: I usually hear "Judit" pronounced as "you-dit", and googling confirms that this is the Hungarian pronunciation.
Love the video anyway.
+bengski68 👍🏼
btw some older Israeli females are called you-dit
which is actually ye-hu-dit but spoken as you-dit
bengski68 we pronounce judith or judit as "you-dit" in germany, too
Confirmed. (I'm from Hungary)
I love analysis vids! Keep it up! :)
Beautiful game, so many great moves by Judit throughout. She was walking the tight rope the entire time.
Thanks for the upload, Jerry!

+MrBanko8 I agree completely!
Oh this video actually appears to be really useful for me. If you don't play g4 you don't have an open file, this is a very important idea which I never thought about before

+TheMaykarLocomotive It is a gem of a game. 👍🏼😊
Very nicely explained Coach
I really like Judith play style
Likewise 👍
I've seen enough amazing attacking games to have instantly spotted Rh7!! :D Great game by Judit, and great video!
at 8:34 why does white not move in with Queen to h7? that would be check mate, or am I mistaking?
I may be mistaken but @8:34 doesn't she have CHECK MATE if she wants it? Why does she drag it out to a game of Pac Man? I may be missing something but I would really like to know the answer... Thanks

+MrBnmartin Thank you and hello Chile 🇨🇱 😎
Hi Jerry
Thanks for the amazing videos. I've learned so much from you
Also I'm pretty sure her name is pronounced "yoodith" :D
Great game. Thanks for your description.
Great chess video......GREAT!!! Judit Polgar's games are the most interesting one can study. THANK YOU!!! (more Judit Polgar games please)
Plus.....this narrator's analysis style is PERFECT........EXACTLY how I like to watch, hear and enjoy chess videos. Thanks again!
at 8:53, why she didn't do the check mate and why she choosen the queen of black ? this is i don't understand. if someone please explain
Black queen f4 check first ,white must do something😂😂
Hello there Jerry. Judit’s focus is Always on the King. She has no time for distractions. Brilliant.
Awesome attacking game by Judit‼️ Love it‼️💖👏
Great video Jerry!!
i'm new to chess so this is mind-boggling, but i intend to study your videos - and hope i get better at chess, thanks for sharing.
Sjaajna Juditka, divna partija-vjechito zelena!!! Pade bash,na shte srca...Ko naajljepshaa charoolijaa!

Oh, and quality commentary. “The Queen will be officially be turned into Pac-Man”.
I love all your videos and you voice:3
On 8:35 Qh2h7 or Qh2h8 is a checkmate. Am I wrong?
love these historical games youve been reviewing. uhhhhhh... can you do a classic game video on lichesss again ? Its been forever!!
At 3:45, he could have elaborated that if White tries to interpose with 16. f4, Black will capture that pawn en passant by 16.... gf3 (this time cooking the Queen with some added spices).
This is one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen. (I'm only a casual lurker at this point, but still.) Great game!
very good commentary Jerry
Thank you
9:47 why not queen to h6?
Bxh1
I enjoy watching your videos a lot! Greetings from Germany
+Jürgen, der Schachstratege Thank you Jürgen, and hello Germany 🇩🇪😊
Judith Polgar is the second best female chess player, right behind Nona Frie.
I have absolutely no idea who Nona Frie is, so I'll continue thinking Judit is the best female player ever (Hou Yifan may one day be the best female player ever but right now I still think its Judit).
That said, excellent game by Judit! That pawn fix was brilliant, allows no shenanigans. ;}
Ha ! Love it !
John Doe
Nice joke for the oldies on this channel :')
None Frie is so good she is winning without moving!!!
nona fried

Hi I'm not the best at chess but I was wondering why white couln't mate at 8:52 ?
Because queen takes pawn delived check
Great video as always, but please tell me there is a good reason for the pink background other than the pink/woman association?
“... I will soon be taking your King” now - forever! - in my repertoire. Thank you.
Best chess channel.
I actually found the g4 move but did not see all those variations and complications that had to prove g4 works
my idea was simply the fact that the h file opens only if black's g pawn is not able to push past, and with Nimzovich's idea, first blockade and then make the pawn lever to open a critical file
Wow. Amazing stuff !
Why kg7 at the end, in the continuation? Surely nf6 then nd5 would be something to fight for, a level of coordination
Thank you for this.
I am quite a bad chess player, and would welcome some education about what is wrong with a move that I am going to suggest could have been made by black around 4.54. I would have thought that, rather than moving his Rook to b8, black could have caused white trouble by moving ...f5.

Why not f4 at 3:44 with the pawn?
en passant pawn takes pawn
great commentary
Thanks!
Great game! Thanks
awesome vid
8:00 good decsiom
After 23.Qxf4 Bxe4, why not return the queen to the h-file by Qh6? Can black prevent the mate on h7 or h8?
24. Qh6 Bxh1 will ruin your day :o(
Because the Bishop on e4 is hitting the rook on h1, so if 24.Qh6 Bxh1 and there's no mate on the h-file.
Thank you. I didn't notice it.
@8:34 why not queen to H7 - mate. What am I missing?
Because Black just played Bxg5+.. King is under attack
at 3:45 why is the queen "cooked"? If 15....Bg5, couldn't white play 16. f4, scaring the bishop away? Obviously if bishop takes, queen takes back right away and is safe, and white only loses a pawn.
What black should've done to prevent this series of attacks with increased severity? When did black lost initiative for good?
When black played the H7 pawn to H6.
Black could've played G6 instead but I think White an still attack with H4. She still threatens to open up the H file and Black can't push the F pawn to kick the Knight, because it will fork on E6.
Nf6 probably instead of h6
I'm not fan at all of Be7 protecting the knight on f6. I would have played Nb-d7, keeping an eye on h7 in case of exchange. Moreover, the bishop wasn't able to stay on f6 so Black lost tempo there.
I come back to this video every time I start to think I'm starting to understand chess
After the rook captures pawn at 8:36 why doesn’t white move the queen to h8? Won’t that be checkmate?
White was in check for two consecutive moves
Jerry what do you think about 4 way chess????
I love the thumbnail pic of Judit (her attire is a photo-shopped and stylized chessboard), while also referring to her attacking idea as "beautiful". A little crush? Haha
Why not at 8:34, Qh7 or Qh8? Is that not checkmate?
White is in check.
Great vid Jerry, but your mic was cracking a bit. Not a big deal, just a heads up.
Good commentary.
Trying to search for more info about Ferenc Berkes but views of him getting beat by Polgar is all there is.
why not after move 22 where black queen takes pawn on f4 does white not go in for mate with queen to h7 or h8? What am I missing?
white is in check
ahhhhhh thank you
It doesn't make sense to advance the pawn near the beginning there because the knght is covered by both the queen and the other knight...
Damn Jerry, thanks for sticking in there with us at @2:57.
So when deciding to move g4, how far ahead do you have your attack planned?
Magnificent !
After the bishop takes the g5 pawn, why not mate on h7 or h8?
Why in move 22 does white play f4? Isn’t Qh8# game over? Or is it not mate and I’m missing something...?
NEVERMIND I forgot Qxg5 hit with check
In 9:47 when the queen was in f4 why didnt put it in h6 i think it will be better than eating the bishop
because then B will capture R on h1 and with all pieces lost except Q white will lose because nothing to support further attack, black willhave time to develop
"The white queen will officially turn into Pacman" made me literally LOL.
Yes, coordination is the key word for this game.
THAT WAS INSANE!
