You need to use primer on a slick door prior to painting it with a water based exterior paint. On any slick surface use a good primer before you paint.
After harvesting hay you're suppose to stored in a dry place to keep the rain and snow off of it If you don't it will mold and sour, which isn't good for your animals.
We live in Johnson County and here you can't burn durning a burn ban. Here we have to call the non emergency number and inform the county that you're going to burn. If we fail to inform and the fire gets out of control we have to pay all expenses involved with fighting the fire. No burning during a burn ban.
I bought paint at Menards two years in a row to stain my porch it was no good. I told the man in the paint dept about. I said I think it sat out in the ocean when they had all those shipping containers that weren't moving he agreed with me . The same thing could of happened to you .
for the pillar colors, take some card stock or thick heavy paper and paint the paper the colors you want and tape them in place where you think you want them....the cap,cap edges, pillar itself. If you don't like it, paint some more paper and try a different combo
We are glad for a bit of rain to help with compaction of this house pad but yeah now the amount of rain that has come and that still has to come is getting to be a washout and we need the rain to go away now. Should be good weather for next week however with the start of rifle...so have fun with that y'all.
Yes, I believe Gary has the answer to why the paint came off with the tape. My husband, Gary as well always says you must remove the tape, before the paint dries; or it will pull up the paint. I’d just touch it up.
For exterior paint I actually prefer the Kilz brand paint over Behr to include using a good primer on the metal first after a decent sanding if required.
you can use a 4 inch pipe from the higher altitude and bring free water to your garden land and have nice garden and trees. plus fresh water for you animals and chickens.
I always use an oil based paint on metal. I like Rustoleum brand. Of course the colors are more limited than with Behr. Behr is my favorite brand! And they do make an oil based paint. It takes a lot longer to dry. And oil based paint has to “cure” for about 30 days.
Metal door needs metal primer and metal paint. paints probaably fine but it would need primer first. Dogs are going to scratch at door. How about putting a gate on stairs to front entrance to keep them way from that area.
You should phone a friend. Painting is kind of the Gradys' specialty, isn't it?? Gary is probably right, but you should probably have sanded it a little, too. ❤
Gary , do you take any nutrients /supplements for your back ? I sense you should start learning about what can help you preserve your back ! Have you ever had your Vitamin D checked by a doctor or a xay or bone density test for Osteoporosis or demineralization????? I"ll tell yah what might help you and prevent deterioration of the bones , hip joints etc. #1 Collagen from Ancestral Grassfed New Zealand cows and Bone and Marrow from them......powdered collagens from grassfed beef, the white lining inside a egg, Red Sockeye Omegas oils from Alaska brand Potent Sea on Amazon....All fish have mercury in them but Red Sockeye cuz they eat seaweed they say.......Arnica Montana 200x 2-5 pellets at a time for innflamation pain in the back and joints sublnqually let them melt in your mouth......Arnica makes creams and gels and rollons you can use on your back or hip joints too .......I know your build has put alot of stress on your back ,hips and I am trying to help people start treating the wear and tear on their bodies while they are still young .....to prevent surgeries that often don't work that well if the entire bone system is messed up . take care Gary and Mel always do your own research and any thing I suggest most of the products can be found on Amazon and the comments are helpful......:)
Melody I'm not sure of what your going through right now. But I can see it's something not sure if it's your health or just life in general. Just know I'm praying for you and your family. I hope whatever the situation is it's better soon.❤
I find Behr to be an especially good paint how ever with dogs scratching I don't think it matters what you put on those nails can scratch a lot. Nice video I like Gary's little high-pitched squeak I don't want to get wet. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
All the rain is probably slowing the paint drying..if you burn during a burn ban and it gets out of control and the fire department etc has to get involved, you are liable for cost ..
They do. Have paint for exterior metal doors for metal. And then they have extra your paint for wood doors. If you get the paint from wood doors and you put it on Meadow, and it's not so much. Yeah, you don't and don't get the same. It's not good I don't believe?
With metal or vinyl you should first scuff the surface with steel wool or sandpaper to help the paint adhere. From what I saw the color looks great. 👍👍
Hello Mel and Gary, hey Mel I like the colour on your concrete block walls, looks pretty good in the background there😉. Your write Mel white is nice but hard to keep clean. You chose a good colour, now you need the siding to compliment it for whenever your ready for it. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Paint won't cure good in the rain. You need a good metal paint probably needed to scuff up the door too. I like the block color. MEL I CANT COMMENT AGAIN JUST ON A REPLY??
Happy Monday Gary an Mel.we really needed the rain. That up hill walk is a doozy. Gets you out of breath.Home just in time. Before the rain started really coming down. Byeee, guys. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍
Ugh… if you need to sand and repaint make sure you use a good binding primer first. I’m not an expert but the paint/primer combo to me is more for when you are repainting a hard to cover color .
I painted my exterior door and I sanded it before I painted it and it's not come off anywhere, but I don't have glass on the door. Just a peep home. I think it will be ok you might have to tough up the few places is all
Everything looks absolutely beautiful the color of the trees the water flowing
They sell a product called stump kill. Cut the trees and paint them with that product

it is not drying properly in all the rain and humidity. But also lorean is correct if you allow paint to dry to remove tape it can and does come off.

They make paints that are called DTM or direct to metal. Great bonding power. Pull tape before paint dries😊
ALL LOOKS AWESOME AT THE POND. Tou two are so so cute walking in the rin in te woods. So sweet
The pond looks great.
It’s so Awesome that you have water creaks on your land. They have special paint for metal etc
Oh wow the beown on the side of your house looks like mud, stay safe yall. Watch for flooding, and flash floods.
I bought paint at Menards two years in a row to stain my porch it was no good. I told the man in the paint dept about. I said I think it sat out in the ocean when they had all those shipping containers that weren't moving he agreed with me . The same thing could of happened to you .
It's always a good idea to scuff the metal door. It gives the paint a tooth, so to speak to grip to
Wipe the metal door down with Vinegar, then paint.
As previously mentioned, you need to buy paint made especially for metal.
You should probably think about covering your hay. It might get moldy and your animals get sick. I just Love your Family. Living the Dream

Good advice. I use recipe cards. If I dip and let them drip dry I don't need a 2nd coat.

The trees are gorgeous🥰🥰🥰

Mel Fullgloss is better pain for metal and timber over hear bathrooms use it to stop it peeling
👍#675 such a beautiful property love the creek and leaf change
The forest and creek looks so refreshed.
Where is your rabbits. I don’t think I missed an episode. Haven’t seen the chickens either. Have a great rainy day
One or two videos ago on SLR Mel took us over to the rabbits and chickens. They are doing fine.
For exterior paint I actually prefer the Kilz brand paint over Behr to include using a good primer on the metal first after a decent sanding if required.
In UK so not sure which paint brands you get there, my favoured paint for metal is always Hammerite..smooth not hammered.
Not sure, but did you scuff up the metal with steel wool? also need to remove the tape before it dries. Just have to see. Love those goats!
you can use a 4 inch pipe from the higher altitude and bring free water to your garden land and have nice garden and trees. plus fresh water for you animals and chickens.
😂😂😂 Crocks... The country slipper😊 So true❤
Our pond is pretty much dry.
I love the goats. They are so friendly. I hope we get rain soon. It's been a while.

Looks like ya got a few leaning trees be safe
YOU SHOULD SAND THE PREVIOUS PAINT/ YOU CAN WIRE BRUSH THE FIRST COAT. YOU CAN PUT A WIRE BRUSH IN A DRILL.
Metal door needs metal primer and metal paint. paints probaably fine but it would need primer first. Dogs are going to scratch at door. How about putting a gate on stairs to front entrance to keep them way from that area.
Good morning Gary and Mellany SLR 👋
well its metal door wet sand it primer it then paint it thats the way
You still have to sand a Metal door even if your paint has primer in it
did you lightly sand the door before painting?
Mel, remove the tape before the paint dries, I’ve done the same thing.
You should phone a friend. Painting is kind of the Gradys' specialty, isn't it?? Gary is probably right, but you should probably have sanded it a little, too. ❤
Hey guys
You have to sand a steel . paint means very little
👍
Scratch up or sand it suggestion
try scuffing the metal door with steel wool or VERY fine sandpaper/emery cloth. That will be a big help in getting the paint to stick to the metal.

❤😊💧🐟🦆🐠🎣🛶💪😀☕️
paint looks good. ya'll are doing a great job! keep the videos coming
Anytime I've ever painted an exterior metal door, I've used the paint and primer mixed paint.
In the UK we have a make of paint for metal called Hammerite. That’s really good, don’t t know if it’s in US though.
Build permanent hand rails across.
I find Behr to be an especially good paint how ever with dogs scratching I don't think it matters what you put on those nails can scratch a lot. Nice video I like Gary's little high-pitched squeak I don't want to get wet. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
Ask, All Gradys about the paint issue you may have
Did you read the can to see if there was a specific outside temperature they recommended.
All the rain is probably slowing the paint drying..if you burn during a burn ban and it gets out of control and the fire department etc has to get involved, you are liable for cost ..
They do.

❤ I always enjoy the walk along. And the gary shows.

You need good metal paint for tge door. Automotive paint would be best. Its never good to paint during the rain. ❤❤

The goats would love that area and help clean it up around the pond.
Paint and raining days don’t get along.
Paint won't cure good in the rain. You need a good metal paint probably needed to scuff up the door too. I like the block color. MEL I CANT COMMENT AGAIN JUST ON A REPLY??
Good morning 🤗 Rox & Ant walked down to the creek too - looks nice flowing 💦 door may be fine once dry 🤞 have a blessed day 🙏
Love the creek. Bet you all wish it was that deep all the time. The pond went up too that's great I know the kids love swimming in it. Beautiful land.
Good morning 🌞

Good afternoon Mel and Gary

Oh yah, the pond looks great!!!😊🎉❤
You always have to prime with the regular primer on a metal exterior door first primer first that’s probably why it’s peeling
I painted my exterior door and I sanded it before I painted it and it's not come off anywhere, but I don't have glass on the door. Just a peep home. I think it will be ok you might have to tough up the few places is all
Even though the paint has primer in it for metal door still needs a regular primer I found that out the hard way too
Good morning Coffee… have a great day ahead and stay safe
Would definitely sand the door. But it may peel later
The paint can will say, can be used on metal. 😊
Hi, have a great day. Love snd Blessings
