  • This is the cafe racer build I did on my 1979 CB-650 I bought in December.
I cut the frame and added a seat hoop, I made a custom seat, new handle bars. Vans, gum rubber grips. I added an amber headlight and smaller speedometer, as well as LED turn signals and break light. I put on a new gold chain and a new battery. I took the tank to bare metal and clear coated it. She's a great running little bike and I had fun with this build as always.

Sorry, I didn't link the parts in this vid. You can find most of them on Amazon.

Nice production. Nice bike. What kind of paint remover did you use in the aerosol can? I normally brush on the air craft paint stripper out of the gallon can. I like the idea of a spray remover if it works as good as the aircraft paint stripper.

Hey thank you! I used some Air Craft paint remover from O'Reiley's. Not sure the brand. Sometimes I use the spray can and other times the container and spread it on with a paint brush. To be honest, the product is pretty inconsistent and I've had several I've had to return. Best of luck!

Looks great! What did you use on the raw steel tank? Some kind of sealer?

Great work on those bikes! What handle bars did you use for this CB650?

Thank you! I used some 7/8" euro bars that I picked up on Amazon.

I tried to do a handlebar swap as well but my cables were way too long. Had to go back to the lame stock bar because it wouldn’t work.
I wonder if these bars would work.
