- Riding the Dragon in 2019 on my Honda GoldWing. 318 curves in 11 miles of fantastic curves and switchbacks East Tennessee. the road is packed with motorcycles this time of year and is not for the faint of heart. located at the intersection of Highway 28 and US129 at Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort. Beware of those crossing into your lane over the double yellow line. Enjoy the ride

A Hondabago, with passenger, while giving running commentary- and smoooooth as a peeled onion...
😂 Hondabago. I like that.
Greetings from Newcastle England, Beautiful countryside you have there.
I have enjoyed watching your leisurely pace sir.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you and greetings from the Hometown of Elvis!!!
The Dragon is always a great, unique ride. A “must ride” for anyone who rides. Rode it for years on my Concours, but got a Wing and slowed down .... NOT! The GL1800 is incredible on twisty roads. Thanks for the great “full” ride.
Great video, I did the dragon myself on memorial day. Had a great ride and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.
Even though you were in harms way twice, you made the journey safely. Wishing you and wife safe riding on the remainder of your trip
I love it that you and your wife ride together.
This was an excellent video with exceptional quality. I appreciate it. Thank you for uploading
Thank you sir for the kind words😊
I haven't rode the dragon yet. But after watching this video, it is on the bucket list. Thank you sir. And the dialogue was great.
Steve Schrader caution! It’s addicting.....and yes there are other roads in the area; watch more of Mikes videos to see. Ride them all! You will not be disappointed.
Lonnie Stephens I fully believe that.
Good clear video. Nice smooth ride, with two up on a heavy bike. From Memphis originally, myself. Rode the Dragon 4 times, but not on my Wing. I saw a truck almost put his back tires off on a hairpin...all stop! Thanks for the ride-along.
Thank you.
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO IT'S GREAT AND WHAT I DESIRE TO DO IN THE YEARS TO COME. BEAUTIFUL SCENERY AND A GREAT RIDE IS ALL I CAN SAY.
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride MM and Ms.MM. Looking to hit those roads in July. Keep the vidz rolling and the wheels turning.
What a good passenger. Another fun video of a great ride. Thanks Mike.
Thanks Mike for this relatively unobstructed view of the Dragon. Watching this video made me feel like I was actually there. Thanks again Mike and keep up the great work.
Thanks for the ride Mike.
Another great video MM, thanks for the insight. We ran the Triangle again on Sunday AM about 9am and did not even see any traffic until around 3/4 of the way through the ride. Had a very hot ride home but arrived safe. Have a goo week looking forward to your next video.
Thanks for a great video. It sure did bring back some memories. My wife and I rode the Dragon probably 20 years or so ago after riding the full length of Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway on a BMW R1100 RT. We spent the night in Gatlinburg, then on to Nashville, heading back to our home in Delaware after traveling through TN, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
NICE ride, MM .... :) :) :) :) "Thanks" for taking us along with you !!! You were REALLY lucky, as there was so little traffic in tour direction ...
Hey Mike. Just got home and watched your video. Love my floor boards I got from you. Thanks for promoting Southern Freedom Riders. Really nice vid.
This place just made my must ride bucket list,,, Thanks MemphisMike for the turn by turn tour!!!
My 02' wing is a Dragon virgin, I think it needs it's cherry popped this year. Thank you for your awesome videos keep up the great work!
Mike i recently purchased a 1800 and will be riding the dragon this year 2021. Thanks for sharing.
Great video Mike!! My wife & I just did the Dragon a week ago on our 2004 Lehman trike with trailer. Love the POV GoPro on the mirror. I have the Hero 7 Black on my 3/4 helmet. We've done this ride several times as well along with the Moonshiner!! Love your videos.... Be safe!! Ray 👍👍😊
Hey Mike, I just got back from my first trip to the tail of the dragon on 5/25/19. My F6B soaked up every mile. Great content, keep up the good work.
Real nice job brother thanks for the heads up on all the goings-on on the dragon. I will be riding for the first time on Monday🇺🇸
You handle that big bike well. Tail of the Dragon is on my bucket list
Thanks for the video, enjoyed riding along with you. Hope to get there and do it in person.
Nicely done, sir! That truck certainly represented a pucker moment.
Me and a couple of the guys tore up some twisty roads on the back of the dragon and on the road to Hawk’s Nest. Fun was had by all, and I did let loose perhaps a little bit too much. But, did anyone die? No! 🤣😎👍🏻
🤣
nice ride sir! that's a beautiful area.
I have been to the Dragon twice from Maryland on a KLR 650. Love it there and the whole area. I enjoyed watching your video. I wish my wife would come with me. I would buy a big cruiser. Thanks.
that's a sweet ride sir! thank you for watching!
Found you just today, loving the bike rides, Russ from England
Hope to run the dragon with my son next year. Awesome video thank you
My favorite road. Nothing beats the Dragon!
No other road gives you the amount of curves in 11 miles anywhere!!!!
one of my simple pleasures in life is enjoying a cigar and riding my gl1500 great vid brother
One of the better Dragon videos I’ve viewed Mike. Now I’m itching to get up there........again.
Cheers to the backroads we love
Mm since I moved to West Tennessee I've been missing those mountains. Thanks for the view
Doing tail of the dragon in August, can't wait! nice vid
Great video. I live in Sevierville and ride up there a couple times a year on my ST1300. I'm an old fart (57) and ride slow(er) these days. But I love watching the crowd up at Deals Gap.
Rode the Dragon twice, very nice, have to watch others though. Funny thing is I ride ST1300 and am 57 as well but I'm a young fart still.
Another great video thanks for sharing keep up the good work
Thanks for sharing your ride because it is very helpful ***** plus I bought me a GOLDWING ***** AMEN 🙏!!¡!!
Thanks for the ride MM
Love the Dragons tail. I’ve seen some rockets go over the side of the mountain. Not good, but that’s what the tree of shame is for and crazy riders are why that tree continues to grow.
Thanks for the ride. I enjoyed it.
Barry
Makes me miss the Dragon. What a great twisty road! It's much greener then when I was there...I'm jealous! Keep up the great work, MM!
Thanks! Loved the vid with Lewis Preston!
@@MemphisMike901 Appreciate it! One of these days I need to come out to your neck of the woods!
WingStuff.com Yes sir and lets roll with Rick!!!
@@MemphisMike901 Great idea! I'll add you to the list :)
We are planning it. Ride to get there then rent room then all day ride. Great video !!!!!!
man you will enjoy it John!
Very nice run on the dragon. I know we were slow the only time Mrs. HDR and I rode it. I hope the next time to have a better speed going over the roads. Ride Safe
You should have turned around and personally thanked that truck driver for offering up such a fine example of the stupidity to which you were addressing only moments earlier. Nice ride and the Mrs. knows how to be a great pillion rider.
Nice video, my wife and I will be there for our first time 6/20/19. Riding from West Palm Beach Fl.
Just purchased my first Gold wing . Have been enjoying your channel . Am planning a trip to the dragon .
Congratulations and thank you!
Great road.wish I could get down there this summer. Next for sure
love the RF1200 great helmet
I’m glad momma keeps you in line btw my wife does also (your loved).
That was a nice run through there . You carry some good speed through most those turns. Me scraaaapppeeee .. lol.
Nice ride.
LOL...yep...scrapin pretty easy on the dragon on the wing for sure!
Great video Memphis Mike . Better listen too momma now. 😂😂
Amazing clean ride.... I want to make the trek down there from Toronto.... Bucket list for sure.... Thanks
Enjoyed the ride Mike!
Never have I seen that without traffic. You broke down the products your using like you work on the price is right. Ride safe
Dragon is a fine ride, it's special because there is no crossing traffic ( intersections , driveways and the such) for the run. You only have to worry about traffic coming at you.
Route 88 North out of Wheeling West Virginia is shorter but more technical..I have taken very experienced road racers on 88 past Oglebay Park. I stopped and warn them about approaching technical sections. And still had to bring two of them home on the truck.. A resident along the road drove down his driveway to assist one of my buddies that just crashed into his property. He said he has complained to the state many times. He said there are sometimes three separate crashes into his property on a single day..
downhill blind decreasing radius off camber’s, optical illusions, blind rises, decreasing radius hairpins, it is the most technical road I have ever been on East of the Rockies. look at a map. it begins at the top of the panhandle of West Virginia where it meets Pennsylvania..there is a road, 844. Get on 88 from 844 and head south to route 40 just east of Wheeling West Virginia..The best I’ve ever been on
Must have been a thing, I saw Bryan ( TWO) had left 1 week before me from Florida to the Blue Ridge and Dragon, I was there on Memorial Day weekend at 9:30... Also road the Snake as well, great roads.. 2nd trip to the Dragon 1st for the Snake, 428 is also a great area too ride. Keep up the good work, rubber side down.
I love the Snake! Was it crowded Memorial Day weekend?
Another great video brother... thanks for the ride!!🇺🇸😎👍🏻
I’m not one to say much on a subject like smoking, but I was a snuff user for 34 years, and I quit. That’s all I’ll say about that. Ride safe MM!🙏🏻🇺🇸👍🏻😎
Enjoyed the ride-along vid. US 129 aka:The Dragon!
Hey Mike, have you thought of having guests ride with you on rides and sharing the dialogue of you and your guests?
Steve Schrader absoulutely. Check my previous vid on Moonshiner 28 with a Subscriber 😊
Another good video Mike! It's been years since I rode the Dragon last. Let's just say it was over 20 years ago. Observations from past experience. No 18 wheelers, and no traffic! Are you sure you were on the Dragon? LOL You know why you have so many viewers, and it's because you ride the roads they wish they could ride! Y'all stay safe now, ya here!
Appreciate that Myles. I try and bring the roads to riders and share my adventures best I know how!
Use to drag my knees on Hwy 9 and Skyline above the Bay Area in the 70,s and 80,s and going to Kings Canyon the back way from Visalia Ca, the group I rode with all the time we had one rule was do not cross the line and it really helps you become a better and fast rider
Rode the dragon many times thanks ! 😎😁👍
The "intrinsic " pride of being a skilled motorcyclist...."you" see a hazard,, and are respectful of others...through the lens of training, experience.....hopefully both. Personal satisfaction..NOT arrogance.
well said!
You should come to Oregon and ride 202 and 53 up north here. They are a blast to ride.
Better listen to Mama. Both hands on the handle bars. You have definitely tamed the dragon. Good video as always.
Thanks Jeff! Mama knows BEST! 🤣
We rode the Dragon on the May 31st early afternoon. We had the same ride, very little traffic.
Love your videos
Thanks bud!! We need to ride this yr
That's a gorgeous ride another one not that far is Big Walker, VA just outside of Bland, VA.
Watched at 2x speed. Very thrilling!
Memphis Mike, Thank you
I was just there over Memorial Day weekend. Crazy busy. The group I was with mostly rode other roads in the area. Lots of fun! Great video!
Wondered if would be crowded or not then)
MemphisMike lots of people there. Lots of LEO too. We arrived the Wednesday before Memorial Day. Rode the Dragon and Skyway on Thursday, Moonshiner on Friday, Parkway on Saturday, then the Skyway back and forth on Sunday. Fantastic roads out there.
hawkeye1680 we just missed each other! This would have been cut on Wednesday. We did Devil’s Triangle Thursday!
MemphisMike oh dang! We didn’t do Devil’s Triangle. We rode in from the St. Louis area and only had time for so much.
So many roads. So little time!
Awesome video!
GREAT vlog Mike I'll watch you on the Tail of the Dragon hundred times before I listen to the Double Dark Side rant Lol rent
😂
Nicely done video
Looks like a great time Mike!
Thanks Jim!
This will be the first time in 15 years I haven’t ridden from Canada to The Dragon - I’ll miss it. I’ve enjoyed that road well over 200 times and even if the intent is to take it smooth and easy, it’s never boring. Thanks for the video . . .
Great video!
+ it would be a determining factor on my trip planning that area having a general idea of what I might expect for that particular month.....TIA MM
Thanks for posting this Mike. I’ll be making the trip over from Munford soon.
Munford, TN?
Yes sir
Man you not far from me. Im in Cordova!
Thanks for sharing!
thank you for watching!
You are correct about the 11 miles. Then again, Ga State Hwy 60 Blue Ridge to Dahlonega (south of 129) is 63 miles and crosses two mountains. It's all about what you like.
Id like to get back down that again soon. We went to Helen, GA couple of years ago..Rain kinda took away some of the fun in that area for riding.
Love it mike

Nice vid, folks! I genuinely appreciate your lane discipline. If y'all ever make it out to northern Wyoming (Sheridan area), holler at my wife and me and we'll play tour guide. There's some riding in the Big Horn Mountains that isn't quite as curvy as the dragon, but spectacular in different ways. (And my uncle has a pipe & stogie shop with some killer cigars...I won't tell your wife!)
Haha. Awesome!! Thank you 😊
I was looking afford see the Dragon but when I saw that tow truck I stay home eat some ribs some barbecue chicken hot dogs and sausage I will watch the dragon on RUclips🍖🍗🍉🍦🤣🤣🤣🤣
LoL
Looks like you've done this a time or two. Nice ride!
Yes sir. Usually 4-5 visits a year up that way!
Always wanted to try the dragon
Great video Mike! Awesome ride hope to do it with ya someday. We will be over there in October for a family vacation but very doubtful I'll get to do any riding. Such a beautiful part of the country.
I hope to be back in October as well. Bout the 3rd week i think.
@@MemphisMike901 We will be there the 5th thru the 12th.
jetdoctn well actually jus checked. Im off that week as well. 2 weeks vacation that month!
@@MemphisMike901 Two weeks! Excellent!
Dragon is probably my all time favorite. Have you rode the copperhead loop? It's a very nice route.
I think parts of it i have
Ha! The ride - Up - to the Dragon’s Tail was enuff for me! I wasn’t gonna take my new ($$$) bike any further... it was my friend’s idea to prove that the Dragon doesn’t BITE!
LOL...well as you saw/know...the roads "up" to the Dragon are GREAT also!!!!!
I made it all the way with you on 129 lol. Nice riding with you.
LOL....Impressive!!!!! Thanks Tony. Hope all is well in your area sir!
Dark side best of all tyre is 175-60-R16 by Federal Formosa FD2 to ride with. This is my second tyre on my ‘03 G.L. 1800 is the best to be on the dark side. C.C. knows this... see you out in the road.
Hey MM would it be much to give a lil detail of the weather temps-humidity etc to kinda clue those of us what you are observing on the ride (we can get an idea of the weather) based on the month you were riding? Thanks bro!
Alexander Herring bout 85 degrees. Summer months will be hotter and more humid in the region.
Think you will ever make it up to the Tunnel of Trees the run from Harbor Springs to Cross Village Mi? I have had the 1500 on both and they are my fav in the USA. HWY 119.. Check it out and Legs Inn in Cross Village is the best place to eat in Michigan,,..
Two weeks ago, hit 28 moonshine in heavy rain. The goofball size water that falls out of the trees stings a little, when hit in the face. Felt the tires slide on the wet dragon. Still had fun though.
You almost made it all the way through without disturbing mama.
