While my husband was alive, my favourite thing to do was to spend time at our weekend home. If it was a snowy evening, we would cuddle up with our dogs in front of the fireplace and listen to music and drink wine. I would knit and my husband would read - it was beautiful and peaceful, no TV.
My husband passed away three years ago at the age of sixty. I tell my kids that the happiest moments of my life were not the big events or trips. The best moments were spending quiet time with my husband. I will cherish those memories all the days of my life.
And the first snowfall of the season always fills me with joy.
Kiitos ja iloista neuletta!
Leea 🇨🇦🇫🇮
That’s beautiful. I lost my husband this April only 53. 27 years together. I agree it’s the everyday moments together I miss so much.
That is beautiful 💜 love from Shetland xxx
I can feel the way you feel. I lost my husband 5 years ago. I miss him very much. I miss those moments while we were sitting together on the couch. I was making a sweater for him. I miss him so much. Now I have lost my mother also. And again those little moments are the most precious. Wish you a lot of strength.
You are so fortunate to have had your Grandma teach you to knit. It is a wonderful skill.😊
I'm so glad to find you. This is the perfect podcast for me. Much love from Shetland xxx
I ďream of walking In the snowy forest. Snow dampens the noises, it is quite still and magical. Then the contrast of coming home into a warm house and hot drinks.
Thank you for your lovely videos. I already look forward for the next one.
I like the long winter evenings for knitting and watching podcasts with a good cup of tea to one side and a cozy snoring dog on the other. I also love winter walks in the sunshine with the crunch of fresh snow underfoot. Beautiful lopi sweater you're wearing ❤
Walking in the cold and then settling in the warm with a nice hot drink and knitting makes the winter so lovely!
In the winter I love to have scented candles, a fire in the fireplace and just sit and knit while watching a good show. And drink lots of tea!
Greetings from 🇨🇦! My favourite thing to do in the winter is to watch the snow fall while I knit and watch videos. Thank you for yours!
I have allways loved it when it snow big snowflakes. When it does you can be sure that I go out late in the evening and just enjoy about the silence and the beauty views
You should knit three dresses !!! Curling up with my knitting, four Pekingese snoring dog babies on the sofa with me, log fire and wonderful music. So blessed. xx
I built snowmen with my grandchildren in their garden and knit while I se movies. When I'm alone I enjoy walking in the city when it snows.😍 So let it snow ❄️ 😀⛄🏔️🧶
All the cosy things, that's what I love in colder weather, wih some walks int the brisk morning air surrounded by a crown of snowy mountains!
Love Winter fireplaces burning 🔥 sitting in my cozy knitting chair with a fiber project 🎶🎶🎶♥️🎶
I like the combination of buttons. I like walking in the snow. And sitting around crocheting/knitting with my crafting friends.
My favourite things to do in winter is to play with my kids with snow. Making a snowman is always an event.
My favourite things to do in winter are wearing cozy handknit sweaters, baking cookies with my little daughter and taking a hot water bottle to bed for extra warmth ;)
For your knitted dress, go with the starkest contrast colours - black and white. Winter colours are stark and strong. White is no colour and black is them all!!! go with what you like best and in the alternative , make two Maira dresses!!! Happy knitting.
My favorite winter activity is sitting knitting near the Christmas tree with all the lights, a fire in the fireplace and smelling a wintery candle burning. Enjoy seeing your podcast. My grandmother was from Finland and I got to visit relatives about 20 years ago. Still put out her God Jul tablecloth with the elves every year!
You are a treat to watch. I am of Finnish descent. My father was 100 percent Finn, both of his parents immigrated early 1900's. They settled in Upper Peninsula of Michigan, in the US. As you may notice, I married a Finn. Hoping to get to Finland while I can still get around. Love that I have gotten back to knitting, cross stitch, and sewing. Love sitting in my stitching chair, watching You tube while stitching. Happy knitting.
My winter favorites; knitting, tea, candles and fireplace. Happy knitting !
Hi Jana, before the hectic Christmas season starts I love our neighbour get-together where we eat, drink and very merry! I’m so lucky to have great neighbours, so helpful and kind , we really appreciate each other, so nice, I appreciate our time together even more as we weren’t allowed gatherings these past 2 winter holidays.
My favourite thing to do in the winter is ironing in front of the wood burner! I live by the sea and enjoy the changes to the beach on a daily basis , which is a constant delight. Good luck with the renovating. Indeed it never seems to come to an end !! 🌊🔥🧶😀
CONGRATULATIONS on 1000 followers.
I am elated for those of us who found your podcast. It is so nice and refreshing.
One of the traditions of my family is to watch Christmas Vacation. We eat, light a fire in the fireplace, some with cocoa or wine and just laugh together and enjoy each other’s company.
I love the matching hand knits you make for you and your daughter. She is beautiful too.
Thank you for a cosy podcast. In winthertime drinking tea, watching podcast and knitting is the best🧶☕️😊🧶
My favourite winter time activity is knitting on a sofa, maybe some candels, drinking glögi or tea.
I really don't like the beginning of winter, I am more a summer person. But eventually I come to accept the cold and the darkness a d relish the light when it does come. One of my favourite things to do when there is some sunny crispness in the air, is to wrap up warm, put out cushions and blankets and knit outside for a while, with hot coffee (heartened by a small gulf of brandy!) It,s perfect. And by the way, I think you look great in all the beige. Beige is the sophisticated, grown up woman's pink and you really suit it. Embrace the beige!
My favorite winter tradition is to reflect on the year between Christmas and New Year’s Eve and to go inwards and let my new word for the year come to me intuitively. I follow Susannah Conway’s free ‘word of the year’ mini email course for that. She does it every year.
I also love to make wreaths.
Recent viewer here. I love candles in the house and snowshoeing!! We have a lot of snow in Canada so it’s great to get out and enjoy the snow.
In winter I love to go for a walk in the trees with snowshoes then have hot chocolate in my cozy home with my knitting 🧶
I love to wear my knits when winter arrives and drink tea or cocoa while knitting on the couch in the evenings when it's dark outside. I also love going for long walks when it isn't raining!
As soon as the temperatures drop I love to light a fire in the fireplace, pull up a chair, watch knitting videos and knit 🧶
I like to knit all year round. In the winter, I enjoy the snowy nature and then knitting by the fireplace. I love to go to skiing with my dog, too.
Thank you for this lovely episode!
My favorite thing to did in the winter while it's cold and rainy outside is to stay in the house, light a fire in the wood stove, and indulge in my favorite things! Knitting, spinning, and processing fleece. I love the idea of not having to leave the house, and be cozy all day long.
I just found you! Enjoyed this episode and now have 20 more to go back and watch :)
At this time of year I look forward to lighting a fire, making a drink and knitting while watching podcasts or Hallmark movies (!), or listening to an audio book ! 🔥 🧶 📚
Have a good week!
Love getting out into nature and live the snow, drinking herbal tea and knitting, spending time with family doing puzzles looking at old family photos
Your Magnolia is so sweet. I love walking in the woods with snow falling around me. And if my grandkids are with me all the better.
I found your podcast recently and have been binge watching. During the winter months I love lighting candles and knitting while watching my favorite movies.
Jana you make a great podcast. Bundling up in Woolens & feeding the birds after a nice snow fall is lovely. 🌬❄️ I like the black and lightest contrast yarns for the dress you will knit. Always Will wait for seeing a new podcast from you. You are very entertaining & inspiring. Stacy 🇺🇸.
My favorite thing to do in the winter is to hunker down with a warm drink (hot chocolate or chai tea lattes) and knit all the woolly things. We are also big fans of making snow ice cream and when the good snowman making snow falls we get out and build a snowman (usually we only get the good sticky snow once or twice a winter - otherwise the rest is too fluffy for snowmen but good for making snow ice cream!)
Lovely episode! Your Magnolia cardigan looks so beautiful and I had to laugh as I immediately preferred the "boring" buttons 😀
My favourite winter traditions are skating and sliding with our girls and of course the coziness that comes along with curling up with my knitting and sipping on hot chocolate on a snowy Winter's eve. Congrats on reaching 1000 subscribers! 🤗💕
My favorite thing during winter time is to knit and watch podcasts. I am a strange Finn, I do not like the snow at all....
I look forward to the first snowfall of the season. I still remember the excitement I would feel as a child wating for the fluffy snowflakes falling from the sky. Magical. Oh yes, and cuddle up with a cup of tea while knitting or reading by the window.
I enjoy early morning knitting with the tree lights twinkling. So quiet and peaceful.
My favourite way to spend the cold and dark winter days is knitting in front of the fire. Accompanied with a hot chocolate of a glühwein
I like the natural or the coral for the button, and the beige colors for the stripy dress. I agree that all the colors play well together. I love to knit all winter long. The family loves to watch movies together during the winter as well.
The picture of you and your daughter in your shawls is so sweet
Christmas lights and pure white snow are the best thing in wintertime. Black and white to Maire 👍🏼
My favourite winter activity(s) is baking joulutortut and knitting.😊
We have a steep driveway and when it snows we love to go sliding down …and sit out in the snow ❄️ and drink hot chocolate .
You are adorable!
Sipping cocoa with marshmallows and watching the snow fall.
My favorite winter things are knitting with wool yarns and skiing during the vacation!🤗
My favorite winter activity is cleaning/dusting knitwear and rugs in snow! I makes the whole apartment and wardrobe smell fresh and clean.
I love to walk in the fallen leaves when they are crisp and golden on the ground. For your dress I liked the dark grey with the camel colour but all were lovely
So happy your podcast was recommended. Will pass your podcast to a knitter friend. Its great to connect with knitters from other countries and share knitting ideas . We are all part of a worldwide knit community 👍👏
Love your channel, you are delightful and very talented! I love to grab a cup of hot tea, sit by the fireplace, watch a good movie, and knit when the weather turns cool. And of course, listen to you!! ❤️
You are my favorite Podcaster, you brighten my day thank you
Thank you so much!
Thank you for your lovely podcast. You magnolia bloom cardigan looks like the perfect cozy cardigan. We enjoy toasting marshmallows in front of our fire in our living room whilst knitting and a glass of port. Perfect Sunday relaxing evening.
What a sweet photo of you and your daughter!
I like to knit in the home near to fire place and look light of candels, enjoy blue moment of days.
Winter is drinking chai tea under a cosy blanket in my armchair watching the winter skies with my knitting...I loved the darker beige color with a lighter color next to your skin tone!
In Canada, we like to watch Hallmark Christmas movies which start in Nov and go through until January. They are all feel good movies about Christmas and snow and romance. Plus knitting while watching movies! Thank you for your podcast. My first viewing was tonight. It was lovely. Greetings from Calgary, Alberta Canada 🇨🇦
My favourite thing is knitting in front of the wood burner and knit with a few candles.
Sveiks! I'm half Latvian, but born here in the US. I love your knitting, and agree that the natural shell button is the best choice for the Magnolia. Keep on making videos, please. Iness
I love the slower pace of winter. The quiet, peaceful nights are more relaxed. For your Maire dress maybe go with the white and black as you are really drawn to the book sample. Though really all the colors you chose work well together.
First, if I'm not too late, I like the subtle stripe combination. Second, I live in Texas, so we don't really have that much of a winter but when we do, I love to snuggle in with my knitting, some cocoa and a few podcasts.
Sometimes I am sad that we live so south that we don't have a real winter with snow and all the beautiful staff that comes with chilly and freeze wearher. And of course it is related to my wish to knit more cosy, fluffy and warm sweaters. For now all my winter accessories and sweters rest in the wardrobe ☺️.
The only thing I can relate to winter are the chilly, windy but sunny days when we enjoy to walk along the seaside and breath the sea salt and bath our faces in the sun..
I like the beige colour scheme for the dress. We are in summer here in New Zealand but in winter I love to cuddle up by the fire and knit and watch movies.
I love to snuggle up in my warm knitted sweaters, drink tea and knit all day long. Also love those walks at night when the weather is crispy cold and everything is coated with snow✨🧣
I am enjoying your podcasts. My favourite winter things to do would be quilting and knitting.
I like the black and the darkest of light colours. Love your wallpaper
Congratulations on reaching your first thousand subscribers! Very well deserved.
For what it’s worth, I was a special needs kid (yes, we grow up!). Of course, I can’t speak to the wide variety of experiences out there, but most of us end up having good adult lives. Maybe different in some ways from our peers, but still pretty good.
And my favorite winter tradition is making soup. There is something comforting about having a giant pot of something delicious on the stove when it’s cold outside. Especially if I have my knitting needles and/or a podcast on while it cooks away.
We love making pastries during winter. I thinkbits the beat season to indulge on hot beverages while pairing the with sweet pastries.
Thank you so much for that lovley podcast. I love the snowfall, its quiet outside, perfekt for a walk. Greatings from 🇨🇭
Congrats on 1000 subscribers! You are one of my favourite podcasters, you are so calm and knit beautiful things. My favourite things to do during winter is being out in the forest either skiing or snowshoeing with hubby and the kids.
Thank you for your nice podcast.😊 My favourite winter activity is cross-country skiing. I like winter evenings when everything is brighter because of snow. And of course I like this time of year because I can wear my knitted garnments.
Thanks for the nice episode! I've started to like beige too. It's a beautiful, peaceful color. There's no real winter where I live, but on colder days i like to make hot chocolate, make a bonfire on the backyard and sit with the dogs and cats and knit 😊
I love to light a candle and drink tea, Hugs Monika
Hi! I enjoy your podcast so very much! Fall and Winter are my favorite time of year because I can slow down. The evenings are longer, sitting with a cup of tea and knitting while I watch movies is my way of relaxing. I love peppermint milk shakes this time of year. I have an adult son with special needs that lives at home with us. He is a great blessing to me. I think the beige and white or cream would make a lovely Marie.
How lovely to come across your podcast. Skiing was once a favourite winter pastime but it is not possible as I don't live near our snowfields any more. Now my favourite winter things are home made soups and breads, and lots of knitting.
both the natural and pink button would go. And in the end, you can always change them out after a while if you change your mi in mind. In winter, I very much enjoy ice skating.
Since moving to NC we don't get much snow here so we've substituted some things. In NYC, we would get the first snow and make snow cream. Sugar, vanilla and snow. So good. But now, on our first weekend where the high is at freezing temps, we do breakfast for dinner with hot chocolate and movies. Its been fun watching the girls still enjoy it even though theyre older. We get our fuzzy winter pjs and of course they still argue over who has more marshmallows lol.
I lit a candle!! That is my favorite occupation in winter-------
Thanks for building a great community. ❤️ Favorite winter thing to do - quietly slip outside in early dawn after a fresh snow to listen to the silence and breathe in the fresh air. Then to hear the sound of the muffled, crunching of my footfalls in the snow as I walk the perimeter of the house and garden.
I love knitting during the winter, while watching knitting podcasts.
I like to play in the snow!! I like the middle shades of yarns for the dress. I would love some Finnish yarn!
I enjoy your channel Jana Thank you for sharing with us❤Most appreciated😊
My favorite winter things are cross-country skiing, candles & knitting by the fire with my family around. I really enjoy the longer evenings which gives me more time to slowdown and relax with my knitting. Thanks for a great podcast!
Hei Jana. Love your cm-blanket! My favorite thing about winter is snow and candles. I hope there will be just about - 5-10 degrees outside, that is the optimal number. I also like good food and knitting ofcourse is part of every day, and sometimes nights too💜
Choose the coral button and for the dress light grey and white yarn. My favorite thing to do in winter is sit on the armchair my wool socks on my feet and knit or crochet something. Sip a cup of coffee and burn candels. Terveisiä Helsingistä.
Hi, since you ask; I think the 2 lightest colours, the soft neutral contrast will look great on you in the stripe dress. Good luck and happy knitting
My fafourite things to do in wintertime is knitting and cross country skiing. I love snow!
I began following you several weeks ago and have had fun watching all of your previous videos. I find your presentation very natural and engaging. Your shyness is nowhere to be seen; you are a brave young woman. I appreciate the support you have extended to Finnish designers. I have cast on two sweaters by designers whom you have recommended. I now live in the southern part of the USA and rarely does the temperature drop very low in the winter here, but it is lovely weather for long morning walks with my dog and hiking in the foothills. I may not have traditional “sweater weather” but I always enjoy my hand knitted socks. Keep up the good work I love visiting with you.
I'm in Australia so the holidays are in summer here, and often very hot! On Christmas day we usually eat outside and then go for a swim in the pool. I would love to experience a white Christmas just once. I have never even seen snow :)
Here in Northern Ontario, the landscape is very much like Finland and I live on the farmland my grandfather settled when he came with his wife from Finland in 1912. My favourite part of winter is a night when the moon is full and the temperature is nice enough to take a walk in the freshly fallen snow and enjoy the moon sparkling on the snow. It is even better if someone has a wood fire going and the air is filled with the scent of wood smoke.
As for your dress colour choices, I like the darkest and lightest beige colours. As a Finn, I was so happy to find your channel today. And I knit, but only socks. But I would love for you to have a short tutorial on how to knit the European way, where you pick the wool off of your finger instead of throwing it over your needle. My mom, who could knit anything, knit the "Finn" way but I was always so confused by this technique. Kiitos!
Priecīgus Svētkus no Kanādas 🎄
On your dress colors, first ask yourself if you like the pattern because of the strong contrast. If I were chosing it would be the darkest one and the next to darkest. It will be beautiful in your color choices.
I love to go see Christmas lights.
Thanks for your lovely podcast. One of my favourite things to do in winter, is to take a long walk through the woods wrapped up in all my cosy knitwear.
I like the more neutral color combo. It looked lovely when you held it to your face.
I have a local winery that makes a yummy holiday wine. I have a girlfriend of many years and we get together to have warm mulled wine. Special winter times.
I love all seasons but I especially like winter. It gives me an excuse to hibernate like a bear and watch the snowfall from my window and knit the day away! Thank you for the wonderful podcast, I just found you and have alot to catch up on :)
My favorite winter thing is taking the dog out for a walk quite late in the evening, when it´s snowing. It is very quiet and the white snow makes the scenery magical. Those moments just remind you of how beautiful the nature is here in Finland and how lucky we are with having all the four seasons! Congratulations of breaking the 1000 subscribers and thank you for the podcast, I really love your content!
