I was interested in where you got the typewriter repair tools and where you can get a replacement platen as well as paper guides for a Royal Model 10. I enjoy watching your videos as they are informative, well narrated and thorough. Any information regarding the aforementioned would be very appreciated.
Most my typewriter tools came from AMES supply some 40 yrs ago, AMES has long gone out of business. Real vintage typewriter tools can be found on Ebay, basic tool can be sourced thru Amazon Platen are recovered with fresh rubber @ jjshort.com Other parts need to be fabricated or from parts machines
If any rubber components on a typewriter need softening up , I use Brake fluid . AS a mechanic brake fluid has rubber conditioners and preservatives in it. I use it on tires etc to make them better ie side walls Do not get the fluid on any painted areas as it eventually will ruin paint.
Hi, there. Really have learned a lot from your videos. Could you please tell me what the name is of some of the tools you use? For example, the tool that you use to bend things back to form and the tool that you use to disconnect links?
Hey, this is a very interesting video ,that helped me, but i dont know why my typewriter bars go completly up, its like they are locked
If typebars go up and abruptly stop, then right margin * line lock* is engaged,
Probably stuck, use those key words to search
Thank you for the explanation, you helped me a lot
Incredibly useful video, thankyou

I was the 10th person to like this video. 😊
That thing is a mess, but I'm sure it will shine like a new penny when you're done. ;)
