I love the difference between how Jonathan treated Dio at the end of Part 1 compared to how Jotaro treated Dio at the end of Part 3. Jonathan, even at the brink of death, showed Dio a kind of brotherly affection even after what he’d done. He gave Dio the chance to die with someone by his side. Jotaro didn’t give a shit and let Dio die on his own in a more brutal way.
Because Jonathan knows Dio for years and forms brotherly relationship to each other, so it make sense why Jonathan act like that despite what Dio have done to him. Meanwhile Jotaro see Dio as a major recent threat because his mom's life at risk because of him and start to losing control his temper when Dio drinks Joseph's blood, and being angsty teenager didn't help this either.
Remember when Jonathan and Dio were having a five minute conversation while falling from the third floor of the Joestar mansion? Just give up looking for any kind of logic in the timing of anything.
Crazy to think that Dio watched his stand, his soul itself, crumble in front of him. For a few moments he knew for a fact that he had not only been defeated again, but that his life was over. No second chances, no victory, no ultimate plan. At the hands of a 17 year old kid from a good punch. For someone as egomaniacal and proud as Dio, with the history he had, that must have been the worst anger, pain, frustration, and fear he's ever felt.
Dio wasn't dead even with The World destroyed. They just left his body in the sun for fear it would regenerate. Moreover, destruction of The World was an integral part of his real plan: Heaven ascemption. "You are a human with your short lifespan, hence this kind of thinking that will lead to your loss" And Dio was right. It was this kind of thinking that ultimately led to Jotaro's downfall and victory for Dio's spirit through his followers
Bad translation. Da is a verb indicate existence, but basically is put for nouns when you end without a verb. Ga indicates the sentence object or to show you mean a specific thing or to show a state over an action. Kono Dio Da! Literally means "This Dio it is/it was!" and whenever he uses it he's preceeding it so it translates as "It was this Dio!" which is an exaggerated way to refer to yourself. Kono Dio Ga is a half sentence repeatedly establishing Dio as the object the action is happening to. Basically repeatedly saying the last half of "How could it happen to this Dio! or literally "To this Dio! To this Dio!" which correctly would localise into English as "But I'm Dio?! But I'm Dio?!"

@@irregular_banana yeah, in part 7 Dio talks about it being 'what feels like 7 seconds' not an actual 7. I think if you move it eats into your timestop time but just talking doesn't. Its probably an energy thing, seeing as Jotaro can only stop it for two seconds in part 4, so moving takes a lot of energy only letting you do two seconds worth of stuff, but talking is relatively low effort so you can stop time and talk for a while

So, it kinda made sense to use his legs, but they were fucked anyway, so he didn't really have any options. He got pissed and he tried something as a last effort to win, so I'd say he lost because of his temper, just like he got beaten by Jonathan when Jonathan remembered him of his old life at episode 2.
The greatest feeling ever is when you realize the reason DIO lost was because he kicked with his left leg, which was established at the start of part 3 to heal slower than the right. Since both of his legs were broken, he kicked with his still broken leg, causing SP's punch to do more damage.

Shade Tavish The way I see it, Jotaro flat out said he’d annihilate Dio once his legs healed. Dio went for a surprise attack that Jojo didn’t expect in all fairness, but overestimated the strength of his leg.
He had also survived several fatal wounds by now and was probably conditioned to not regarding mortal wounds as mortal. He didn't instinctively regard damage as fatal and so didn't think to preserve himself when he made his final attack.
There’s a lot that could’ve stopped this all from happening so I think that’s conclusive evidence that the joestars are the most unlucky family in anime

Honestly... they both knew they had the same stand, and DIO also acknowledged that Jotaro was advancing his ability to move in stopped time, and kept using it. DIO deserves this for being arrogant.
DIO deserved this because of his cautious mind during the first half. If he had simply let his ego take over for a while than maybe jotaro couldn’t adapt to his ability to move in a timestop. He should’ve been cautious during the second part to find a way to murder jotaro without being killed. If DIO was arrogant during the first half than jotaro would have a shorter time stop movement because he cannot focus on it because of dio’s absurd ability to pull shit out of nowhere to give himself an upper hand like come on where in the hell did he store all of those knives.

I just realized something: When Dio is talking to Hol Horse at the start of “Hol Horse and Boingo Part 1”, he mentions how the left side of his body is weaker than the right and takes longer to heal. And during his final battle with Jotaro, what is it that ultimately kills Dio? *A hard blow to his left leg.*
Good theory, but you forgot that this was before he sucked the blood of Joseph. He also mentioned that he needs to drink the blood from a Joestar to make Jonathan's body become his completely, which he did.
@@ketakitten That’s definitely valid point, but when Dio is trying to get back up after Jotaro uses time stop on him, you can see that the only leg he’s able to somewhat stand on is his right leg, the left leg is still kneeling. Call it skeptical, but I think the reason Dio is kneeling with his left leg is because it hadn’t healed enough to support his weight, unlike his right leg. It’s only until after Dio blinds Jotaro and right before he kicks him that he’s able to stand on both legs, implying that Dio’s left leg hadn’t healed enough until right around he shot his blood at Jotaro. And from there, the rest is history. Dio tries to kick Jotaro with his left leg, but he punches back, sending massive energy through Dio, causing him to combust from within and die. But look at Dio’s body afterwards, and do you notice anything? Aside from his head missing, the left side of his body is completely missing, save for the leg which was dismembered when Dio started combusting. So yeah, even with Joseph’s blood, Dio’s left side was still weaker than the right. But Dio never noticed this because his ego had swollen after obtaining Joseph’s blood, causing him to believe he had already won the fight and became much more careless than in the first half of the fight, which payed the price when he forgot one of his few weaknesses near the end.

For those of you who don’t know why Dio explodes: Dio’s left side heals way slower. Jotaro gave him time to heal up so the fight would be fair. Dio rushes to attack, completely forgetting that his left side wasn’t healed yet. As a result, star platinum easily punched through his left leg destroying Dio ( I think that is the most logical explanation, manga readers plz correct me if I’m wrong)

I know this might be a bit of a stretch but when looking at Johnathan Joestar bs Dio he had plenty of pluck ( courage ) on his side but it seemed he always hot a little ot unlucky with Dio always surviving so in some ways he got unlucky especially in the final fight where he got outnumbered in a small space while he was attacked critically right away preventing himself from using hamon he lacked luck. In the case of Joseph Joestar vs Dio the only reason he made it as long as he did was out of pure luck like during kakyoin final emerald splash distracting Dio while also telling him the secret of the world allowing him to get some distance and escape from the world's range but not for long and though Joseph has shown courage before in this moment he was frightened by the world's sheer power and time stopping capabilities choosing to run away he lacked pluck But in the case of Jotaro Kujo vs Dio he had both luck and pluck on his side, he showed pluck by deciding to face Dio head on despite knowing it's broken nature and time stopping capabilities and Jotaro got lucky multiple times during the battle having dio being cocky and not finishing him off in one blow landing near a book store to stuff himself from protection of knives having polnareff jump In and save him at the right moment distracting Dio for just a bit ,anyways that's just my though on it .

When you think about it, DIO's defeat was an effort caused by 3 JoJos, not just 2. Joseph guiding the Joestar Group to DIO, Jotaro obviously kicking his a**, and Jonathan for both beating the crap out of him at the beginning and resisting him as a decapitated body, giving him the huge weakness that allowed Star Platinum to finish him off, his left leg. Pretty awesome ngl.

I like the contrast between Dio's defeats at the hands of Jonathan and Jotaro. Jonathan always pities Dio, where as Jotaro goes all-out (in fact, Dio is the only person Jotaro every went all-out against with Star Platinum, with everyone else he held back) and has no remorse for him. Hell, Jotaro even says it right to Dio's face that he has no pity for him when he's about to finish him off (before Dio tries to get the upper hand by throwing blood at his eyes).
I think I finally figured what the key element to Dio's defeat is, It is a weakness that spans back to phantom blood, and even predates his vampirism: His temper! Stands are stated to be tied to ones willpower and traits, Dio is unable to control himself when he losses his cool, If he can't keep himself together then it's not a stretch to say his stand would be severely weakened as well. The way Dio even attacks shows he so clouded by anger he can't think out his actions properly.

For those who may got confused on what really happen in this particular scene, well, i think it's rather quite simple. But first, before i explain my thought about this, i think you guys need to understand first on what really happen if 2 Time Stop users met each other and engage in a battle. The example will occur like this: Imagine there is 2 Time Stop users with the limit of 5 second each. If "A" decide to stop time, "B" will actually have an advantage unlike others with no time stop ability. First, he could see what happen at the stopped time. Second, he could actually invade the timestop as long as he could. What does that mean? Well, imagine "A" use 5 second time stop. If "B" decide to invade his time stop for 2 second, it means that the very next time he used time stop immediately, he'll only have 3 second left for his time stop. Same thing goes for this scene. What actually happen in this scene probably went like this: 1. Dio used his time stop, went away looking for [Road Roller] for 7 Second. At the time dio was looking for it, the reason of why Jotaro remains calm is because he still has a trump card left. What is the trump card you may ask? Well, an extra 3 second of his time stop (Meaning he could stop time for 5 second at this point). He probably unlock this extra second due to being angered toward Joseph "Death". 2. At the 7 second mark, Dio used [Road Roller] against Jotaro. Not wanting to get crushed, Jotaro used the 2 second of his time stop to invade dio's [The World], and somehow manage to escape (Some said by using a manhole), leaving Dio to think that Jotaro is dead. 3. At 9 Second mark, Jotaro used his remaining 3 second time stop because he thought that Dio's time stop limit is still 9 second. And this is where things get interesting. 4. At the 2 second between 9-11 second, 2 Time stop is activated. Yes, while Jotaro's time stop went activated, Dio's time stop is still activated too, so it is actually true that Dio's time stop limit did increase. And what's interesting is, Time stop will remain absolute. Meaning, eventhough there is 2 time stop activated at the same time, just like 0x2=0, things remain the same as if only 1 Time stop was activated. 4.Dio's time stop run out at the 11 Second mark, while Jotaro's time stop still had 1 second remain, and... you know what happen next. *ORA!*
4:07 pause on that, you can see how MAD jotaro is from this scene right here, the stare that we see in his eyes are extremely terrifying and are in the urge to kill, the soulless eyes that jotaro has when he gets mad, absolute terror, DIO deserved that lose.

He knew that DIO and Jotaro had the same type of stands, and since he also knew about DIO's ability to stop time, he assumed that Jotaro had the same ability. +ExtremeTG I always figured the reason Star Platinum seems so fast is because it was always able to stop time, just without Jotaro's knowledge. It's somewhat sentient, remember. Not quite Echoes or Spice Girl level, but it's capable of acting on it's own.
Dio really messed up at the end: 3:36 - Dio gets kicked in the left leg, which shatters it, but he uses his blood to blind Jotaro - Despite Jotaro being blinded, he punches straight forward - *instead of actually using his brain, and maybe doing a roundhouse kick from the back, making star platinum miss, dio uses his LEFT LEG to kick right into star platinums fucking fist* - Dio dies YOU WERE DOING SO WELL UNTIL THE END!
Or maybe using his right one, instead of using the broken leg that is exactly on the left side, already stated by Dio himself that his left side was weaker than the right one. Dio is a dumbass.
@@GXprogamer Stopping time would not work anymore, since by that point, Star Platinum had already awoken his time-stop ability and would be able to freely move around in frozen time.
I honestly love their final clash. Just seeing the sheer horror on DIO's face after his leg was cracked was amazing. He knew it was over, every preconceived notion that he was the highest lifeform in the world had just been shattered by some highschooler with anger issues. DIO knew that his life was about to be taken by the very bloodline he swore to destroy and all he could do was watch, and that just terrified him. The one thing that can strike fear into his heart is somebody being able to surpass him.

Ga indicates the sentence object or to show you mean a specific thing or to show a state over an action.
Kono Dio Da! Literally means "This Dio it is/it was!" and whenever he uses it he's preceeding it so it translates as "It was this Dio!" which is an exaggerated way to refer to yourself.
Kono Dio Ga is a half sentence repeatedly establishing Dio as the object the action is happening to. Basically repeatedly saying the last half of "How could it happen to this Dio! or literally "To this Dio! To this Dio!" which correctly would localise into English as "But I'm Dio?! But I'm Dio?!"

Its probably an energy thing, seeing as Jotaro can only stop it for two seconds in part 4, so moving takes a lot of energy only letting you do two seconds worth of stuff, but talking is relatively low effort so you can stop time and talk for a while

So, it kinda made sense to use his legs, but they were fucked anyway, so he didn't really have any options. He got pissed and he tried something as a last effort to win, so I'd say he lost because of his temper, just like he got beaten by Jonathan when Jonathan remembered him of his old life at episode 2.
The greatest feeling ever is when you realize the reason DIO lost was because he kicked with his left leg, which was established at the start of part 3 to heal slower than the right. Since both of his legs were broken, he kicked with his still broken leg, causing SP's punch to do more damage.

The way I see it, Jotaro flat out said he’d annihilate Dio once his legs healed. Dio went for a surprise attack that Jojo didn’t expect in all fairness, but overestimated the strength of his leg.
He had also survived several fatal wounds by now and was probably conditioned to not regarding mortal wounds as mortal. He didn't instinctively regard damage as fatal and so didn't think to preserve himself when he made his final attack.

Honestly... they both knew they had the same stand, and DIO also acknowledged that Jotaro was advancing his ability to move in stopped time, and kept using it. DIO deserves this for being arrogant.
DIO deserved this because of his cautious mind during the first half. If he had simply let his ego take over for a while than maybe jotaro couldn’t adapt to his ability to move in a timestop. He should’ve been cautious during the second part to find a way to murder jotaro without being killed. If DIO was arrogant during the first half than jotaro would have a shorter time stop movement because he cannot focus on it because of dio’s absurd ability to pull shit out of nowhere to give himself an upper hand like come on where in the hell did he store all of those knives.

I just realized something:
When Dio is talking to Hol Horse at the start of “Hol Horse and Boingo Part 1”, he mentions how the left side of his body is weaker than the right and takes longer to heal. And during his final battle with Jotaro, what is it that ultimately kills Dio?

Good theory, but you forgot that this was before he sucked the blood of Joseph. He also mentioned that he needs to drink the blood from a Joestar to make Jonathan's body become his completely, which he did.
@@ketakitten That’s definitely valid point, but when Dio is trying to get back up after Jotaro uses time stop on him, you can see that the only leg he’s able to somewhat stand on is his right leg, the left leg is still kneeling. Call it skeptical, but I think the reason Dio is kneeling with his left leg is because it hadn’t healed enough to support his weight, unlike his right leg. It’s only until after Dio blinds Jotaro and right before he kicks him that he’s able to stand on both legs, implying that Dio’s left leg hadn’t healed enough until right around he shot his blood at Jotaro. And from there, the rest is history. Dio tries to kick Jotaro with his left leg, but he punches back, sending massive energy through Dio, causing him to combust from within and die. But look at Dio’s body afterwards, and do you notice anything? Aside from his head missing, the left side of his body is completely missing, save for the leg which was dismembered when Dio started combusting.
So yeah, even with Joseph’s blood, Dio’s left side was still weaker than the right. But Dio never noticed this because his ego had swollen after obtaining Joseph’s blood, causing him to believe he had already won the fight and became much more careless than in the first half of the fight, which payed the price when he forgot one of his few weaknesses near the end.

Dio’s left side heals way slower.
Jotaro gave him time to heal up so the fight would be fair.
Dio rushes to attack, completely forgetting that his left side wasn’t healed yet.
As a result, star platinum easily punched through his left leg destroying Dio

I know this might be a bit of a stretch but when looking at Johnathan Joestar bs Dio he had plenty of pluck ( courage ) on his side but it seemed he always hot a little ot unlucky with Dio always surviving so in some ways he got unlucky especially in the final fight where he got outnumbered in a small space while he was attacked critically right away preventing himself from using hamon he lacked luck.
In the case of Joseph Joestar vs Dio the only reason he made it as long as he did was out of pure luck like during kakyoin final emerald splash distracting Dio while also telling him the secret of the world allowing him to get some distance and escape from the world's range but not for long and though Joseph has shown courage before in this moment he was frightened by the world's sheer power and time stopping capabilities choosing to run away he lacked pluck
But in the case of Jotaro Kujo vs Dio he had both luck and pluck on his side, he showed pluck by deciding to face Dio head on despite knowing it's broken nature and time stopping capabilities and Jotaro got lucky multiple times during the battle having dio being cocky and not finishing him off in one blow landing near a book store to stuff himself from protection of knives having polnareff jump In and save him at the right moment distracting Dio for just a bit ,anyways that's just my though on it .

When you think about it, DIO's defeat was an effort caused by 3 JoJos, not just 2. Joseph guiding the Joestar Group to DIO, Jotaro obviously kicking his a**, and Jonathan for both beating the crap out of him at the beginning and resisting him as a decapitated body, giving him the huge weakness that allowed Star Platinum to finish him off, his left leg. I think I finally figured what the key element to Dio's defeat is, It is a weakness that spans back to phantom blood, and even predates his vampirism: His temper! Stands are stated to be tied to ones willpower and traits, Dio is unable to control himself when he losses his cool, If he can't keep himself together then it's not a stretch to say his stand would be severely weakened as well. The way Dio even attacks shows he so clouded by anger he can't think out his actions properly.
Yep. That's why he was dumb enough to kick with a broken leg, which meant The World's leg was a vulnerable point, and Jotaro took advantage of that mistake big time!

For those who may got confused on what really happen in this particular scene, well, i think it's rather quite simple. But first, before i explain my thought about this, i think you guys need to understand first on what really happen if 2 Time Stop users met each other and engage in a battle.
The example will occur like this:
Imagine there is 2 Time Stop users with the limit of 5 second each. If "A" decide to stop time, "B" will actually have an advantage unlike others with no time stop ability. First, he could see what happen at the stopped time. Second, he could actually invade the timestop as long as he could. What does that mean? Well, imagine "A" use 5 second time stop. If "B" decide to invade his time stop for 2 second, it means that the very next time he used time stop immediately, he'll only have 3 second left for his time stop. Same thing goes for this scene.
What actually happen in this scene probably went like this:
1. Dio used his time stop, went away looking for [Road Roller] for 7 Second. At the time dio was looking for it, the reason of why Jotaro remains calm is because he still has a trump card left. What is the trump card you may ask? Well, an extra 3 second of his time stop (Meaning he could stop time for 5 second at this point). He probably unlock this extra second due to being angered toward Joseph "Death".
2. At the 7 second mark, Dio used [Road Roller] against Jotaro. Not wanting to get crushed, Jotaro used the 2 second of his time stop to invade dio's [The World], and somehow manage to escape (Some said by using a manhole), leaving Dio to think that Jotaro is dead.
3. At 9 Second mark, Jotaro used his remaining 3 second time stop because he thought that Dio's time stop limit is still 9 second. And this is where things get interesting.
4. At the 2 second between 9-11 second, 2 Time stop is activated. Yes, while Jotaro's time stop went activated, Dio's time stop is still activated too, so it is actually true that Dio's time stop limit did increase. And what's interesting is, Time stop will remain absolute. Meaning, eventhough there is 2 time stop activated at the same time, just like 0x2=0, things remain the same as if only 1 Time stop was activated.
4.Dio's time stop run out at the 11 Second mark, while Jotaro's time stop still had 1 second remain, and... you know what happen next.

I honestly love their final clash. Just seeing the sheer horror on DIO's face after his leg was cracked was amazing. He knew it was over, every preconceived notion that he was the highest lifeform in the world had just been shattered by some highschooler with anger issues. DIO knew that his life was about to be taken by the very bloodline he swore to destroy and all he could do was watch, and that just terrified him. The one thing that can strike fear into his heart is somebody being able to surpass him.
