    Combat medic here. When you're doing a casualty drag for more than a couple feet you really wanna get your arms deep under their armpits and get a tight gable grip as low on them as you can, usually about belly button level. Then when you lift you wanna lift them as high as possible and sorta walk them forward a tad so that their knees lock out. Once they're in this position, even completely limp and unconscious, they kinda stand themselves up and it makes it far easier to move them a meaningful distance.

  • @coacheugeneteo
    @coacheugeneteo  3 месяца назад +266

    Yes, it’s true. If all you care about is pure muscle growth, your muscles only know one thing - Tension. And you can direct more targeted tension to your legs via “regular” squats.
    But, if that was the only goal, why squat at all? You can direct the MOST targeted tension via leg extensions, curls & thrusts. Squats as a whole are inefficient by that definition because you’ll always be fighting systemic fatigue.
    There’s more to training than just size. Even if that’s your only goal (which is totally cool), the total body coordination and strength gains you’ll get from the zercher position is tough to beat. I use zerchers because it feels incredibly natural and comfortable for squats, it strengthens my upper back and my legs still get a fantastic stimulus from it.
    As much as I like zerchers, you DON’T have to do them if they don’t fit your goals. But if you’re curious to try, here’s some starting recommendations 👇🏻
    1. Use it on lighter exercises like split squats or lunges to get used to the position.
    2. Try static holds or marches with heavier loads to condition your elbows & back.
    3. Wear a sweater or wrap some thin padding around the bar. Just be wary of using too much padding as the bar will be more unstable and the weight will be further displaced from your centre of mass

    People who are obsessed with "optimal" lifts must spend a hell of a lot of their time very stressed out. 99% of what goes on in a gym isn't "optimal". It doesn't matter. Any lift is better than no lift and not everyone has the same goals as you do. What I find hilarious is the dudes who claim to do everything optimally but still spend 4 hours per day in the gym. Anything more than an hour is junk volume, that includes warm-up and stretching.

    • @mikael1680

      Dumb question from a noob, what if you lift to failure on 6-15rep range? Takes longer to recover from each set while simultanously do a 3day/week program of fullbody?
      Would it still be considered junk volume if you in there for around 2hours?

    • @GameDeveloperTraining
      @GameDeveloperTraining 3 месяца назад +1

      @@obamaibnbahish5680 It depends on how long it’s taking to recover. Standard rest periods for a low rep - high weight set is 2-2.5 minutes. If you’re taking longer than that I’d consider putting some work in on cardio and higher reps to improve your endurance. Training to failure on every set is generally less effective. Muscle growth stimulus occurs before failure so by going past that point all you are really doing is making the next set less effective. If you really need that feeling of utter exhaustion just go to failure on your last set. Dr Mike talks about volume a lot on his channel.

    • @obamaibnbahish5680
      @obamaibnbahish5680 3 месяца назад

      @@GameDeveloperTraining atm im on month 2 of weight lifting, what im currently doing is progressively overloading until i plateau hence why ”every set to failure” (or in or around failure) since im still rapidly growing in strength. But it tires me physically since I frontload every workout with one or two compound movements then move towards more isolated excercises.
      I take between 4-5minutes to recover between squat/bench/deadlift, the rest is 2-4minutes inorder for me to keep great form for each rep.
      So if my cardio improves will the ability to finish the last reps also improve? Wouldnt that just mean that the weight/intensity is too little?
      Edit: usually i do 6-8 reps x3 for squat/bench/deadlifts

    • @GameDeveloperTraining
      @GameDeveloperTraining 3 месяца назад

      @@obamaibnbahish5680 2 months in you probably don’t need to be doing isolation exercises. I’d focus on the big compound lifts to build up your foundation and do cardio on off days. 3 full body workouts per week focusing on bench, squat, military press, pull-ups, and maybe deadlifts if you have anything left in the tank at the end. You really need to focus on getting those recovery times down. 5 minutes rest is a long time as you’ll almost completely have cooled down after that time, and if it’s a public gym you’ll be pretty unpopular.

      Never know when you might need to carry a 200lbs+ man out of danger

      @@codyhorn3789 and if you have to, zürcher squats will do exactly zero benefits for you. as lifting weights carries over to exactly nothing but lifting heavier weights. Functional training is not a real thing. The only way to get better at function is to practice that function. Doing barbell squats and bicep curls will work both parts of this movement better and it is easier on your body.

    He trained to lift something heavy, then he killed her kept her in back pack and buried in the middle of forest then playing with her child. Not mentioned who she is may be his wife…
    Wife : you can’t take care of/ raise the baby if I’m dead.
    Husband took it serious
    Then rest………

    Functional training is not a thing. Weight lifting only makes you stronger and better at lifting weights. In order to get better at a certain function you need to practice that function. This variation is useless for the legs as your arms can’t hold up enough weight for your legs to get solid work. Do bicep curls and back squats and you will get both better results for both parts of this movement and it will be safer for you.

    Btw zerchers are a good front squat alternative. Also useful for grappling. Zercher shrugs are really really good for the traps. I don't care about "functionality" I don't have a life.

    Wait till you realize you get the same chains of motions from a regular squat and this is by no means assisting you more in carrying someone like that than a normal squat is this entire variation was made so you can get deeper into the position of the eccentric of a squat it has more to do with putting size on your quads than it does boosting functional strength
