Any tips for new is300 owners, maintained wise what to look out for, and would you rather engine swap or build your n/a block and upgrade your cylinder head with either GTE 1j or 2j such as a 1.5 jz
Ur smart 4 asking. Honestly depends on budget nd goals. Cant go wrong wit gte ths is ur #1 choice but will cost u more $ if done right. I would 1st drive the car a year nd take ur time to upgrade suspencion with coilovers 1st. Maintance ths depends on ur millage nd from car to car (if goen to swap dont put $$ into ge) . The ge is great for a budget 4k and under
The back header, take off the crossmember underneath. Put it up on jackstands. Not too bad reaching up there to put on the bolts, some from the top. I just replaced my Y pipe... left the old headers to not deal with them. I can't wait to see the 626 running. You guys doin the MAF swap? 10-15hp easy. You'll feel it pull harder up top, freeway, hard acceleration.
Be very careful with the studs and bolts they are easy to strip out of the head. I'd say just snug them up. I tried also replacing the factory ones that were rusty, the off the shelf ones would not tighten even though they claimed to be the right size. I still had the old ones and they did work just well enough. The subframe bolts are a biotch by hand, 1/2" impact em if ya got it.

Good point. If we cant reach the last 2 bolts we will jack it up.
