Thank you for producing this reaction, it's one of a series of events that happened in early May 2024 as part of the remembrance concerts that are an annual event to remember the over 8000 American lives (among others) that were lost when the Netherlands was liberated during WWII, and after the way Emma performed in September 2023 during an earlier liberation concert, she was invited to perform at a number of concerts this year, including a major event in Amsterdam that included a number of high ranking politicians and the Dutch Royal family among the audience, and Emma did a stunning performance with April Darby of a song we'd not heard before, 'When you believe',

She's now 16, and it's very evident that working over the last 9 months with Andre Rieu among others, she's developed her own unique way of singing, she has a depth to her that is a consequence of her illness, she refuses to be defined by it, but she has used her very different and challenging life experiences to enable her to become a much more powerful performer, and it's now clear that she can deliver almost any song, in a wide variety of environments and locations, and do it in a very competent manner. These concerts happened in the middle of a series of concerts with Andre in England and Ireland, which resulted in a lot of travel over a few days, but despite the pressures of that travel, she delivered stunning performances in all of the concerts of that tour, and people like me who follow Emma's progress were more than surprised to discover that her signature song, 'Voila' has not stayed the same as it was in Maastricht last summer, Emma has made a number of subtle and clever changes, which meant that she has been able to improve on what we all thought was a perfect performance, the live performance in Dublin was stunning, even better than Maastricht, and there is a user upload of her performance a few days later in London, which is 2 songs, Voila, and another, a Michael Jackson song, 'Heal the world', and both songs are powerful performances, and show just how well Emma has fitted into Andre Rieu's organisation, the video can be found at ruclips.net/video/_toRF1aGf68/видео.html

It shows a split screen of her first performance of Voila in Maastricht, but also shows her during rehearsals, and it's so visible how she was almost in awe of what she was becoming involved with, and backstage, just before she walked out on that first night, she was like a deer caught in car headlights, the nerves were so evident, so visible, and then she walked out, and her dream, expressed so clearly in that first single, LAAT MIJ EEN VLINDER ZIJN , let me be a butterfly, written for her, it expresses her deep and desperate desire to be free of the limitations and restrictions of her disease, she wants to be free, to be able to soar like the butterfly of her dreams, to be able to soar and rise above it. It's in Dutch, and there is a translation to English in the notes that are with the notes in the video, that dream became reality, and she soared like the butterfly of her dream, and delivered the performance of her life, the video of that single can be found at

It's deeply emotional, especially in the section from 2:02 to 2:40, where she sings, 'If only for a day, or even for a count of 10, I'd just like to live as another', and when that happens, her eyes close, she shakes her head from side to side, and then her head goes down, and she goes quiet, as she has to think about her situation, and then face the grinding reality that for now, there is no way out, there can be no change, as there is no cure at present for her disease, and as she realises that, her mind is made up.
After a few second, her head comes up, and in the song, she soars to a new high note, and it's clear that she has made the decision that she is NOT going to let this disease define her, she is not going to let it beat her, she IS going to rise above it, to become the singer that she knows she can be, and not be a victim of her circumstances, and remember, this first single was recorded when she was only 14.
In July 2023 , she walked out on to Andre's stage, but mentally, she was in a different place, she was the butterfly of her dreams, and she mentally soared above the stage, above the orchestra, and the audience, and by sheer strength of her personality, she dominated them all, from the moment she launched into the song, before even the orchestra played a note, she was driving that whole time, Andre was guiding the orchestra based on getting his cues from Emma, as she put all of her being, all of her emotions and feelings, both good bad and (her phrase) wierd, into that performance, and it's hard to realise that this was the first ever live performance of this version of Voila, and Emma's first appearance on a stage with Andre, there's no evidence of stage nervousness, or concern, far from it, at the end, as she hits that top note, and punches the air in triumph, that cheeky grin says it all, she knows that she has nailed what is for now the defining performance of her life.
Andre had also worked his magic as as the consummate showman that he is, he had 4 dresses made for Emma, and when they saw them, they both made the same choice, the stunning black dress, and Emma's comment was that when wearing it, she's 'Strong and powerful'.
Andre helped Emma make that difficult transition from being a very capable and good girl singer into the young woman he knew was ready to emerge, as she walked out on to that stage, mentally, she was the butterfly emerging from the cocoon it spent so long in, and the New Emma that walked out onto Andre's stage emerged and soared, she was visibly and emotionally a beautiful, strong, powerful, serene, composed, competent, driven and dedicated young woman, but at the end, just for a moment, the 15 year old girl emerged again, and she turned to Andre, threw her arms wide, and her look said it all, 'How was that?' Andre's eyes, his smile, the hug, the kiss, and the call back to acknowledge the ongoing standing ovation from the audience, they said it all, Emma had massively achieved a new high, she truly had arrived, and despite this being the first of 12 appearances, Andre had the confidence the following day to invite Emma to join him in Malta for 2 concerts, to be a guest artiste in the Christmas show series in Maastricht, and to then become a guest star for the 75 concerts of the 2024 world tour, and we're already seeing how much trust he has in her, she's performing songs that are very different, and in ways that in 15 years of watching Andre, I've not seen happen in the way they are with Emma, and we know from other videos on RUclips, Emma has a place in Andre's heart, he is being very protective of her, to avoid causing any health problems, and I won't be surprised if she is still working with Andre beyond 2024, she certainly is very much loved by the extended family that is the orchestra, and seems to have slotted in very well with them.
There are other songs on RUclips, covering a wide range of genres, but for now, I will just close with my normal appeal to everyone that's reading these notes, and yes, it means a lot to me to be able to do this, she is a very special individual, and she deserves as much support as it is possible to give her.

Please, if at all possible, join me in making a (regular) contribution to her foundation, to enable them to help patients like Emma, and research this awful disease that has affected her from birth, and requires her to be tied to the pumps and feeding tubes since she was 9 MONTHS old, for 22 hours a day, hopefully, the work of her foundation will find a cure.
One of their main people is a surgeon who has a lot of experience in dealing with gastroparesis, and she is not only a surgeon, but also suffers from the same disease herself, to the extent that as a result of her condition worsening, she's had to leave her role in the hospital, and she is now dedicated to the foundation, and working to help find possible new treatments, or even better the cure that will free people like Emma to live a more normal life, rather than be tied to the feeding pumps for so many hours every day.
It will be so good if the work of Emma's foundation can lead to a better treatment, or even a cure, which will free her to do more singing, and it may be people here who make that possible.
Don't want to fuss, but a country called Holland doesn't exist. The Netherlands does however. Everytime someone uses the wrong name over 10 million people are ignored. Due to this "mistake" I decided to skip the remainder of the text.
