The original was beautiful, but this new animation got me hyped for a possibility of a remake, and I would watch it all over again, because it's beautiful. I loved this new art.
There was _more_ shadows but that does not make it "better" most of those shadows aren't even accurate nor necessary. Those who want a fully detailed picture should just look at that, pictures. Because animation at its core _aims_ to be simple and clear in order to translate the message. The added shadows won't add anything of substance except non-artists reaction of "ooohhh ahhhhhh, detailsss~" when it's just _shadows_ 💀

The new ones had some smoother animations and nice design than the original. But I still prefer the original cuz of the old graphic keeps the serious tone of the anime.
one of the things i loved about the original style was they showed that these aren't regular kids they are very athletic and built. The newer style i do like but they make them look too skinny.

The remake looks good for today's standard but the original has more line variation, the flat color makes it less shiny and less tiring for the eyes, overall more detail (which is not always a good thing) and WAY better expression.
The things you're appreciating is the reason for lack in technology. There's no flat colour the texture has less quality. More blurry a picture is less mistakes you see in them.

Yall deeply underestimate lighting and coloring. I dont think I could watch naruto if it didnt change in Shippuden. As I have gotten older, I find myself not enjoying a lot of the older cartoons I once enjoyed simply because of the lack of color diversity. It makes everything feel flat. Also, more details ≠ better. Often times, older naruto looked messy. The lack of color didnt help that either.

They did an excellent job. However I think classic is better for the close up scenes. Also PV is really like the picture you have on the playing cards.
What I love about the original art is EMOTIONAL SUBTLETY! Instead of just being like "this is their mad face, this is their sad face", there's layers of emotion in the detail just like real-life. Like "she's sad that Sasuke is leaving but she's trying to wear a smile because a true ninja never shows their feelings" or "Sasuke isn't just attacking Itachi, he's so unhinged that he's charging in without a plan! He's being naive and reckless, and his eyes reflect this because you can see how unfocused he is."
Overall the original animation style is way more detailed then the PV for Naruto’s anniversary but I love how the artists reimagined these iconic anime scenes! Plus the animation is more crisp and the colors are more vibrant which I love!

For the remake, it's just the contrast that has been improved but I notice that the drawings are destroyed (especially Naruto's expressions). there are less details than for the original. they took the boruto drawing styles which i find less beautiful
Yeah no kidding, I’m really not a fan of the lack of detail they give the characters now which is wayyyy more noticeable when it comes to flashbacks, specially on Naruto with his hair and stuff.

Are you serious?? This new artsyle is awful... It's fine for Boruto, but for og Naruto characters, it just takes away the charm. Especially Naruto, he literally looks fat now... The new artsyle literally removes their noses at some points..
There's one thing that's pretty consistent with most of these. The fact that even though the newer ones look cleaner, the old ones had more focus on the important parts of the frame. Most likely because most of those shots from the original are directly copied from the manga, a medium where they had to convey everything that's going on through static images.
Prologue looks better in the old style because the faces look a lot more expressive than they do in the new ones, but the Land of Waves absolutely goes to the new style. Does a much better job at displaying how cold it is inside the Ice Prison and makes the fight seem not only against Haku like in the original, but against the freezing cold as well. Chunin Exams could go either way really, I think overall seeing the fights in the new style (especially Rock Lee v. Gaara and Sasuke v. Gaara) is exciting but the animation in Sasuke v. Orochimaru in the Forest of Death is imo unmatched throughout the rest of the series. Weirdly the characters seem to hit harder in the old style during the preliminaries, but vice versa in the second rounds. Konoha Crush easily goes to the new style, as it's a continuation of the Chunin Exam Second Round where I guess they were recovering from blowing the animation budget on the Prelims? Almost every shot is an upgrade on the old animation. Search for Tsunade is effectively the same as the Konoha Crush, every shot is a straight upgrade, the hits have so much more weight to them, and despite being one of the weaker arcs imo it'd still be worth watching again. Sasuke Recovery (best arc) could really go either way depending on who you ask. The new Chidori and Rasengan effects are elite but I really struggle to believe the new style could match the quality of animation on the taijutsu in this arc. Seriously go back and watch Sasuke v. the Sound Four or Neji v. Kidomaru, it's awesome.
Stick with classic. Probably easier to animate the one on the right. But it feels too clean. Character models also seem off in some scenes. Grittier feel on left. Line work is better. More emotion on the left. Subtle but noticeable.
I expected to see all the fights in the Sasuke Rescue arc, and I was disappointed because it's only the last one, Naruto VS Sasuke. Kinda sad that we aren't getting a remastered version of drunk Lee vs Kimimaro, or my boi Choji vs Jirobo:(
The classic version of Naruto will always be the best. It carried the emotions well and it felt dark especially the Zabuza arc and looking at Naruto when the seal broke he looks scary as fuck
One thing I’ll say about the anniversary animation is apart from them doing a great job of doing a modern style but extremely being faithful to the way the original was drawn. Is that the anniversary animation has the scenes look just as bloody if not more so 5:40 than the original😄. I hate how modern animation of classic franchises tone down the violence like DB Super. I don’t want to lose the extreme violence that made fights feel like actual battles to the death. A fight fells more serious when a character coughs up BLOOD after a hit rather than a few wisps of spit😅! Piccolo ripped his entire arm off fighting Goku and it was just as bloody as you’d think! Vegeta constantly had his face or body bloodied up from battle but now he’ll be covered in scratches and you might see a few red scratches a little trickle of blood from the corner of his mouth😂. The animators for the Naruto anniversary did not do that here and if anything put a little more blood here and there. Like when Sasuke took Haku’s needles for Naruto. Even as a kid when it first aired I thought it should’ve been a bit more bloody in that shot and the animators here seemed to think so as well. Idk just a little thing I noticed that felt further showed the animators for that anniversary tribute truly had a love for the franchise and wanted to pay it homage as best they could.
The Final Valley fight is definitely better in the original. The emotion, the animation, and the atmosphere alone are iconic to anime history. The remake looks good, but nowhere near as good as it was back in the day.

@@Mineluciousnot really in the context of the show the way some of the scenes look visually are way more impactful in terms of color grading and scenery. the animation in the new one is just much better and looks more crisp. i think the og art style is just more expressive and detailed tho

For the remake, it's just the contrast that has been improved but I notice that the drawings are destroyed (especially Naruto's expressions). there are less details than for the original. they took the boruto drawing styles which i find less beautiful
Yeah no kidding, I’m really not a fan of the lack of detail they give the characters now which is wayyyy more noticeable when it comes to flashbacks, specially on Naruto with his hair and stuff.

I'm living for all those crisp outlines and only realizing how fuzzy OG Naruto was with the comparison.
So i guess outlines outweighs the terrible new artstyle lol. They couldn't even TRY to make the hair look good in the new one.
Some of its great but honestly I miss the amount of detail they had in the old style, new style looks great but just wish they looked a little more solid. Like the 1990s style animation had something special in the art ya know?

Imo og Naruto will be superior in terms of expressions etc but the modern coloring and lighting of the remake are better

Its 50/50 for me. The new one seems have better looking attacks, but the old one still have better character designs.

Are you serious?? This new artsyle is awful... It's fine for Boruto, but for og Naruto characters, it just takes away the charm. Especially Naruto, he literally looks fat now... The new artsyle literally removes their noses at some points..

There's one thing that's pretty consistent with most of these.
The fact that even though the newer ones look cleaner, the old ones had more focus on the important parts of the frame.
Most likely because most of those shots from the original are directly copied from the manga, a medium where they had to convey everything that's going on through static images.
Prologue looks better in the old style because the faces look a lot more expressive than they do in the new ones, but the Land of Waves absolutely goes to the new style. Does a much better job at displaying how cold it is inside the Ice Prison and makes the fight seem not only against Haku like in the original, but against the freezing cold as well.
Chunin Exams could go either way really, I think overall seeing the fights in the new style (especially Rock Lee v. Gaara and Sasuke v. Gaara) is exciting but the animation in Sasuke v. Orochimaru in the Forest of Death is imo unmatched throughout the rest of the series. Weirdly the characters seem to hit harder in the old style during the preliminaries, but vice versa in the second rounds.
Konoha Crush easily goes to the new style, as it's a continuation of the Chunin Exam Second Round where I guess they were recovering from blowing the animation budget on the Prelims? Almost every shot is an upgrade on the old animation.
Search for Tsunade is effectively the same as the Konoha Crush, every shot is a straight upgrade, the hits have so much more weight to them, and despite being one of the weaker arcs imo it'd still be worth watching again.
Sasuke Recovery (best arc) could really go either way depending on who you ask. The new Chidori and Rasengan effects are elite but I really struggle to believe the new style could match the quality of animation on the taijutsu in this arc. Seriously go back and watch Sasuke v. the Sound Four or Neji v. Kidomaru, it's awesome.
The old style of anime 1990-2006 was goat for art.

Stick with classic. Probably easier to animate the one on the right. But it feels too clean. Character models also seem off in some scenes.
Grittier feel on left. Line work is better. More emotion on the left. Subtle but noticeable.
My mind: Road of Naruto is better.

I expected to see all the fights in the Sasuke Rescue arc, and I was disappointed because it's only the last one, Naruto VS Sasuke.
Kinda sad that we aren't getting a remastered version of drunk Lee vs Kimimaro, or my boi Choji vs Jirobo:(
Unsure if anyone else notice but at 1:30 you can see that they gave sasuke the 2 tome sharigan in both eyes but he only had one during the haku fight

The classic version of Naruto will always be the best. It carried the emotions well and it felt dark especially the Zabuza arc and looking at Naruto when the seal broke he looks scary as fuck

One thing I’ll say about the anniversary animation is apart from them doing a great job of doing a modern style but extremely being faithful to the way the original was drawn. Is that the anniversary animation has the scenes look just as bloody if not more so 5:40 than the original😄.
I hate how modern animation of classic franchises tone down the violence like DB Super. I don’t want to lose the extreme violence that made fights feel like actual battles to the death. A fight fells more serious when a character coughs up BLOOD after a hit rather than a few wisps of spit😅! Piccolo ripped his entire arm off fighting Goku and it was just as bloody as you’d think! Vegeta constantly had his face or body bloodied up from battle but now he’ll be covered in scratches and you might see a few red scratches a little trickle of blood from the corner of his mouth😂.
The animators for the Naruto anniversary did not do that here and if anything put a little more blood here and there. Like when Sasuke took Haku’s needles for Naruto. Even as a kid when it first aired I thought it should’ve been a bit more bloody in that shot and the animators here seemed to think so as well.
Idk just a little thing I noticed that felt further showed the animators for that anniversary tribute truly had a love for the franchise and wanted to pay it homage as best they could.
The Final Valley fight is definitely better in the original. The emotion, the animation, and the atmosphere alone are iconic to anime history. The remake looks good, but nowhere near as good as it was back in the day.
