She recently passed and left me with the gift of prayer and living a good life. Lucky me. Troy, that is really an awesome post. Maybe these losses that we go through, as painful as they are, lead us closer to our Father in Heaven who gave us our earthly fathers and created them for us. Your Dad obviously was well loved because he shared the love of God with you and others. What a wonderful Heavenly Father we have to know he gave some of us such wonderful dads. Let's pray for those whose fathers didn't quite live up to their calling, for which there could be many reasons, and also I will keep you and your dad in my prayers daily.
My mother fought her way through painful lung cancer and alzheimer's, and on her death bed she refused to give in to death. Even though I hadn't been to Mass in years, I called upon the Blessed Virgin to assist her, as I began reciting the rosary. Barely two decades in, my mother finally surrendered, leaving her pain here on earth. Since then I have returned to the Church, and have continued to pray the rosary often, lately each and every day, with the pandemic bringing such sorrow to so many. Our Lady is a powerful and wondrous advocate for us!
I'm very sorry for the loss of your mother. But I'm so blessed to hear that mother Mary was there to help you and your mother at the end! I was so comforted when I read your story because I have a similar one. We just lost our father at 91 years of age March 25th of 2021. We had kept dad home and he battled dementia for the last 10 years. On March 23rd he slipped and fell broke his hip and had to go to the hospital. They did surgery, I had so much hope that he would make it back home but he was too weak to make it and his system shut down. Because of covid restrictions I was only able to be with him for the last 5 hours. I am not Catholic but I've been reciting hail Marys for 20 years and over the past few years I've learned the rosary and other Catholic prayers and pray them frequently. As my father laid in his bed waiting for his final moment to come I prayed to Mary for 5 hours silently. Then his moment came and he went into cardiac arrest and I saw strain come over his face I immediately increased my fervency praying to mother Mary and I saw peace come over his face and he squeezed my hand and then he left us! I kept asking Mary to come and greet him to take him home and I believe that she did! I lived with my father for the last 20 years and spent the last 10 caring for him and it's such a heartbreak but he was so brave he showed no fear even till the very end. Only in his final moment when he had a few seconds of pain on his face which was replaced by peace thanks to mother Mary! I'm very sorry for your loss. But thank you for sharing your story, I was very touched! Thank you Jesus for giving us your Mother!

My dad left us when we were kids and I miss not having a father. The void stays a void until it’s my turn to go. I’m glad my wonderful mother raised my brother and I as best she could. She recently passed and left me with the gift of prayer and living a good life. Lucky me. Troy, that is really an awesome post. Maybe these losses that we go through, as painful as they are, lead us closer to our Father in Heaven who gave us our earthly fathers and created them for us. Your Dad obviously was well loved because he shared the love of God with you and others. What a wonderful Heavenly Father we have to know he gave some of us such wonderful dads. Let's pray for those whose fathers didn't quite live up to their calling, for which there could be many reasons, and also I will keep you and your dad in my prayers daily.

My mother fought her way through painful lung cancer and alzheimer's, and on her death bed she refused to give in to death. Even though I hadn't been to Mass in years, I called upon the Blessed Virgin to assist her, as I began reciting the rosary. Barely two decades in, my mother finally surrendered, leaving her pain here on earth. Since then I have returned to the Church, and have continued to pray the rosary often, lately each and every day, with the pandemic bringing such sorrow to so many. Our Lady is a powerful and wondrous advocate for us!

I was so comforted when I read your story because I have a similar one.
We just lost our father at 91 years of age March 25th of 2021.
We had kept dad home and he battled dementia for the last 10 years.
On March 23rd he slipped and fell broke his hip and had to go to the hospital.
They did surgery, I had so much hope that he would make it back home but he was too weak to make it and his system shut down.
Because of covid restrictions I was only able to be with him for the last 5 hours.
I am not Catholic but I've been reciting hail Marys for 20 years and over the past few years I've learned the rosary and other Catholic prayers and pray them frequently.
As my father laid in his bed waiting for his final moment to come I prayed to Mary for 5 hours silently.
Then his moment came and he went into cardiac arrest and I saw strain come over his face I immediately increased my fervency praying to mother Mary and I saw peace come over his face and he squeezed my hand and then he left us!
I kept asking Mary to come and greet him to take him home and I believe that she did!
I lived with my father for the last 20 years and spent the last 10 caring for him and it's such a heartbreak but he was so brave he showed no fear even till the very end.
Only in his final moment when he had a few seconds of pain on his face which was replaced by peace thanks to mother Mary!
I'm very sorry for your loss.
