Hello sis, the course I am applying to says the placement year is optional so I plan on not taking the placement course, with this am I safe? Please I need your reply sis so I can just stop or continue my application
This issue of placement is not just in Sheffield Hallam alone. U will be surprised that this placement issue might arise in the school you chose. My sister at Teesside University said they were having a similar issue. No where to do placement. She had to run away from Middlesbrough to Liverpool.

That is rubbish! Sheffield Hallam University is not trying at all. The least they can do is to revert you guys to one year course and the visa length should be reduced to 16 months. Can your Nigerian student association talk to them and remind them of what they told you?
@@momostula That is just nonsense!!! They literally lied to get students!! It is so unfair! I think all of you in your class need to go and meet the staff physically and let them know in clear terms that the conditions were what made you choose them over other schools. Also let them know that prospective students that you know who wanted to choose them are now changing their minds and choosing other schools like University of Salford who require 5.5k as deposit and have a 5 - 7 instalment payment plan (I suggest mentioning a school so that they can know that they are not the only choice that new students have). You have to hit them where they would be affected and it is only the money that they would lose that can affect them. I really hope they change their minds. May God grant you guys favour. I am so annoyed with SHU right now. They are about to destroy their good reputation with all their nonsense.
Makes no sense and its not fair. So what happens to the post graduate visa? Other schools just make you do a consultancy and stay for 16months instead of 24.
@@momostula i am having same issue with my own course but slightly different….my own course is about licensing which it was stated that it will be given to us ,they are changing mouth now saying we need to do another professional course to get our license to practice which will span for 1yr and 6month.
@@momostula it’s not a crime, it was on air some months ago, but the rules there is you must continue with your studies while working.. so it’s agreement between you and your employer.
Becos of the way you were talking about sheffield hallam university, I reject offers from brighton,portsmouth and many schools just to apply to sheffield hallam and after long way of offer,I finally got it by march n the interesting part was when I was sent an email that they will no longer do placement year for geographical information systems for this Sept intake which I sent you a DM on Instagram. I sent an email to the school requesting for the 12months offer up till date,I have not gotten an email concerning that. I weep for sheffield hallam and I am so glad that my sister rejected their offer for logistics and supply chain management for this intake and accepted Hertfordshire. I wish I have accepted others and also not have gone far in my form A process n done my Tbtest
As much as I hate what is happening, nobody saw this coming. Like I mentioned, I can't confirm if it affects all courses and departments. However, still be glad you didn't get the placement because there's no telling what will happen. All the best. Sheffield Hallam is not a bad school, the switch in laws are what is bad.

40 hours atyour placement kob and 20hrs max elsewhere if you decide to hold a second job

Which is exactly what they promised us. Student union can't even do anything not to talk of Nigerian student association. Its terrible really
