The key thing to realize is that the devs are trying to take away the "there is only 1 meta" BS. The intent of this game from day 1 was to let people play a million different ways and still be viable. Will you HAVE to have a mage to be a killer mut group? No. But now you will be ABLE to, whereas before you could not allow them in. Well for the most part. People need to stop chasing metas and just play what they have fun with style wise because, per the devs themselves, the intent is for the meta to keep changing over and over again.
@@ParfaxGaming not true. It's already changed and that's going to continue. I remember when Bruisers dominated PVE too, but that's no longer the case. Both of those are about to be gone. it's actually wild that they nerfed fireball as hard as they did, but still haven't touched flamethrower lmao. they need to cut that 4m distance in half. if you wanna burn clumps you should be in them.
@@ViliGiX no it would still be useful for what its meant to do... stat pad. you just wouldn't be able to put full stacks on someone who immediately notices the flame thrower and tries to escape the range, and or a melee before they can close in to try and cc. I was going to run this build give or take a few ability changes. Glad to see someone else has done the math cause I definitely only got as far as what abilities I wanted to use haha.
I wouldn't necessarily say this build will be meta, but it will 100% be viable. Rapier for single targets and tight clumps will still be king of DPS as flurry with empower + max rend on a target it can deal 15-20k+ per flurry use (3-6k per hit on flurry 5x), pair it with tondo + FnF and you're dealing massive amounts of burst + DoT..now if you don't want to run FnF you can run the evade build which is still a high DPS build as lights attacks can hit 6k+ after using evade. Keep in mind I'm talking about this being used against corrupted, against any other enemy type it's slightly weaker but still at the top of DPS compared to all other weapons. Even currently it competes against Greatswords, but Greatsword currently is extremely strong and unbeatable in terms of DPS, but after the update rapier's will be back at the top. Now, a rapier user + FS user together more than likely will be meta and pair it with a 3rd dps using Spear+GA for the CC+Burst DPS+Pulls. Keep in mind as well that tanks are also more than likely migrating to using VG as their mainhand now going 300 con and 200 int, this way you wouldn't need to use VG offhand, and instead run IG for even more DPS
Thanks for your videos! Always enjoy them! Curious why you feel hearty is a must in PVE? I personally dont feel any need for hearty running spear/hatchet so curious why you think hearty is a must for mage? I feel like I'd prefer something like surgeons ring (keen/void dmg) or something with all dmg adding perks
Well, if there was a keen, fire, refreshing, or burning, I would agree. Those can not roll together plus next patch the extra dodge you get from hearty will be even more important with the nerf to oblivion and with the extra damage we will be taking.
Atm I'm a tank, so with this new update I'm going to try out being a mage tank since grit is moving to con and magic weapons are getting taunts. If it works well I think it'll be fun. Then I don't have to be playing tank, but want to do dps mage. I'll just be both. Plus void blade will have grit to it.
Flamethrowers has always been underrated. People in this game are so pvp centric in their mentality that they think burst damage beats all. That's not the case in pve boss fights. Anyone who has played games with parsable combat logs can tell you the real value of constant dmg like dot builds. APM matters. The reality is it all has it's place. A skilled mage paired up with a skilled melee can seriously melt bosses. The mut situation and failures of the ability/specs are what have kept mages on the bench. This is the first full weapon rework and I think it's amazing. Time to dust off my mage main gear from storage for pve :) I really hope their future reworks for the other weps going forward are as well rounded and smartly done as this one was.
Problem is Attunment in PvE sucks balls its actualy 6-8% dmg and it works only for 1 enemy even if u hit multiplaye thats why any chain, keenly jagged or keenly empowered are better.

@GunnsyGaming they do but in order to get into high level mutations with random groups you have to play the meta. Also for some people their enjoyment of the game has nothing to do with the build they play. Some people enjoy playing the meta.

no problem glad you liked it

nice

Bane and vicious
Really no flame attunement?

I wonder what the BIS PvE will be on fire staff
Bane, resfresh pof, vicious
any thoughts on a build for pvp that maximizes burn and uses backdraft to burst the target for extra dps?
im looking to see if there is a way and if I find it I will post it
Is it worth having 50 dex for the 10% crit chance?
All these weapon and fortification/armor nerfs are really going to screw the Solo PVE players in order to nerf the PVP side!
I don't think they are happy with the pve side as well. 5 con light armor with no real downside is a problem on their eyes as well
Uh I don’t think so. Rapier/GS/Spear will be the top 3 weapons next patch. Fs doesn’t look that good for pve still compared to these weapons.
Rapier is actually one of the highest dps weapons in the game and every speed running group runs 1.
