Why isn't anyone talking about her holding that note!! It is INCREDIBLE. That's on par with operatic. She deserves a lot more recognition as s singer, songwritter, and leading this band for over 20 yrs. They have worked their asses off. They did it the way they wanted. No. Bowing down to the industry.

It is pretty impressive. But I need to say that it sounds like a sampled sound, so it could be any lenght. Maybe I am wrong, probably only a concert can tell, if she can keep that note sooooo long, but you need REALLY big lungs for that :-)
update: I am convienced, she did it all by herself. Impressive!

No she didn't just get into this to put her son into college. To get this good takes YEARS of perseverance, dedication, and lots of depression from all the rejection you inevitably go through as you try to make it without selling your soul to Hollywood. So either she was planning for her son's education while he was in diapers or she got into music because that's her career passion.
She auditioned for the band in 2004 and was initially turned down by guitarist Chris Howarth because she was a woman. They came around, and she forged their signature sound.

This girl has a set of lungs on her. I’ve always watched them. That whole band is the coolest and you don’t see a lot of costume but in these videos, they are really, really good.
If you asked me in 2007 there's not even the slightest remote chance I could have imagined the direction this band would evolve into. This is just completely nuts.

I've watched this video probably 50 times & I take back the comment I made 6 days ago about wishing this song had more of a groove metal/funk rhythm to it. There's method behind their madness. The instrumentals are like the thrumming of a hive, a growing legion, and a climactic explosion of wrath. I understand & am awestricken. Subliminally hypnotic & very awesome. I only wish such a person really existed in the world with that power, because I'd follow them.

this is just fan service to me. She hasn’t belted anything longer than 15 seconds prior to in the between in a few years . Proper vocal resting and care with touring is crucial , im grateful they’ve been active for twenty years almost and we can still get these type of vocals. Even preordered the album , I haven’t done that since black widow unfortunately.

I caught a snippet of an interview (Octane, can’t remember the host) with Maria Brink. She said that that is the longest scream of her career thus far (duh). She said that it made her really dizzy, and that she almost passed out.

I agree.. I saw them in Sydney at the soundwave festival in I think 2013 (I went to so many lol) Maria jumped down in the crowd and the whole crowd formed a circle pit around her.. the vibe was incredible. I was at that stage early to see Kittie and discovered In This Moment. So good.

The underlying message of the song is to not fall too deeply into the rabbit hole, everything is about finding balance. I had a lot of emotions building within me when I approached the song for the first time and after years of holding it all in I finally got to let it out! Enjoy. - Maria Brink
This song came from our time in lockdown. We all had our own personal experiences during the pandemic, and we all saw the social unrest unfolding daily tearing us apart. It was such a crazy time. Our band, like everything else, was stopped in its tracks. During the lockdown I was sending Maria musical ideas I was working on, and this one really resonated with her. She even said, ‘This is gonna be our first single.’ Fast forward a couple years and all the pent-up frustration and angst came pouring out in Maria’s lyrics and performance, creating this crazy visceral song. - Chris Howorth, guitarist.

@@shredie8957 I saw her preform this live back in August on the Dark Horizon Tour and she's able to hold it for roughly 15 seconds before taking a small inhale and doing it again. Mind you, that's while she has all that smoke and stuff flying in her face and lungs. I don't doubt she able to do 20 if not the entire 30 if she's in a studio recording and not having to move around and preform.

Maria is truly an artist. I love her music and it keeps getting better and better! I almost had a chance to see her in Nola but sadly the concert got cancelled. In this moment is definitely my favorite band of all time and this is why! She is a musical genius!

But they backed out first then it was up in the air and then I'm guessing they couldn't get any openers. Which I'm disappointed cuz it's been my dream to see them in concert, but I do understand why they did.
No doubt she is a great vocalist, but you can't forget about the other people in the band. They are the ones that write the 'genius' music.

@@ali-karimi1That's part of why almost every scream you've heard in music has been engineered to some degree, You still have to be able to scream to make it sound good though... compression, overdrive and multi tracks can only do so much... this isn't pop with auto tune.

I read in an interview I found online that this song was written due to the pandemic and being locked inside led to a lot of pent up anger and rage, thus, a lot of screams and the long growl. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I have had the song stuck in my head since it dropped 2 days ago. I can't wait for the album to be released! 🖤

Their stage performance is UNREAL. They opened with this track on the Dark Horizons tour this summer. I had the honor and privilage of seeing it twice, at both the opening AND closing nights of the tour. Each pulverized my skull equally. Honestly, how do other bands compete with this? It's such an insane combination of ridiculous musicality; vocals that are one of a kind with growls that sound so clean, but also her singing voice is properly amazing, the band is unafraid to be controversial and edgy, they're impossibly good at all of their instruments, and it feels like watching a movie for their videos. So impressive on every level. Glad to be able to enjoy this- one of a kind- experience.

When Maria screams it’s literally my cathartic way of expressing the emotions I have a hard time expressing. I just let her do it for me. Or I just listen to it cause I fucking love it. The long scream blows my mind and is very impressive.😊
