I also like the moment where EVERYONE breaks into the pool at the same time, independently. It's fun. And Pool Check's entire existence is just very amusing to me. So, in short, I like this episode a lot. 20:03 "Where did he come from?" You must know, Tyler is a force of nature. Wherever there's someone to "git", he'll be there to encourage you to "Git 'em, git 'em!".
I love how Stan's enemy is a literal child! While I'll always prefer Stan to Gideon, the kid has his moments of not being creepy or crazy and he's just being a normal, annoying little kid and honestly those are some of his best moments. Same with the episode about the president and he's throwing tomatoes at Stan just to annoy and make him mad.
The "mermaid" in the mystery shack is, in fact, a "Fiji Mermaid" (also spelled "Feejee") - a fake, created by sowing half a monkey carcass to half a fish. We _did,_ however, get an indication of real merpeople existing, because they were mentioned alongside gnomes by Chutzpar the Manotaur.
21:31 To explain what he eats, I'm guessing he eats any kind of snack that falls into the pool and floats up. When Mable get Mermando into the cooler and the kid says "We can't all be saved," a bag of chips float by and he eats the chips.
Fun fact: Stan was originally going to say “blind the child” but Disney’s censors said no so they changed it to “burn the child” which is DEFINITELY better

This show gets quite darker at the end of the season and in season 2 while still maintaining its unique humor and charm. I can't wait for your reaction to episodes 19 and 20. (Just a suggestion, episodes 16 and 17 are, in my opinion and IMDb apparently, the weakest of the season and I think me and other people might prefer it if you do them both in one reaction. I actually don't like this episode for one particular reason, mabel's selfish double standard. Ruining dipper's chance for a good day with wendy a few episodes back about time traveling for a pig, but then she turns around and guilt tripping him for mermando. Still this has some of my favorite lines, like stan saying burn with such unapologetic glee, and soos chatting with the inflatable ducks. But yes those sticky hot days are the worst, though windy days in the winter can suck just as much if you have to be outside most of the day thanks to brutal windchill.
is it really selfish to care more about her pet’s life or mermando’s freedom than dipper hanging out with a girl he has plenty of other opportunities to hang out with?
The thing with the pig is she would have lost the pig to Pacifica and would have never had him. Dipper wouldn’t have lost Wendy, and still could have other opportunities to be with her and spend time with her in the future. Mable would have suffered loss
@MikeyVenture @asfdhahhahaha Neither of them know if they'd be returning to gravity falls at all, and without some important reasons to counter stan's shady care-taking habits, their parents probably won't send them back. Frankly it's insulting to consider a pig's life more important over a human's, not to mention concerning. Difference is that dipper and wendy could eventually become a couple given some years time, but what reasonable potential does mabel have with mermando? May as well be dating someone that only survives in a complete vacuum, uncomfortable risk is required for them to be together, as demonstrated by the pool itself; and social relationships based on confinement or separation aren't exactly healthy. But as other's have rhetorically asked over the series, how many times does dipper sacrifice his happiness for mabel's, comparing the vice-a-versa? Just something to keep in mind as food for thought.
@@XperimentorEES we know literally nothing about their parents and what they would or wouldn’t do? and also even if they don’t ever return to gravity falls, they still have the whole rest of the summer. it’s not like wendy’s life was in danger if she hung out and had a fun day at the fair with robbie instead of dipper? while waddles may very well have ended up being eaten. i’m not even going to touch wendy and dipper’s potential dating in the future, because that makes me feel icky in multiple ways, but; it’s not about dating mermando, it’s about mermando being able to reunite with his family. how many times it’s dipper’s own fault he is in those situations? like, it was him who started messing with the timelines and almost caused mabel to lose waddles in the first place, for example. how many chances does mabel even have to sacrifice her happiness for dipper’s? i’m not saying mabel can’t be selfish at times, but so can dipper - but they are literal children after all, so...

By and large all pet animals live significantly shorter than people, so that's a moot point as it'd die well before she retires anyway. Also find it ironic you overlooked my comment about dipper could several years later work it out with wendy, but you've also overlooked mabel's reasoning for helping mermando is primarily out of infatuation which is just as nasty. Still I agree with you that romance shouldn't remotely be part of either sibling's story till collage at least. Granted they're kids, but it's not always the case that a given problem is his fault either. Regardless of the situation mabel is all to eager to rub her suffering (apparent & real) in his face to get her way. But dipper learns how to empathize and help others far better than his sister, such as the summerween episode. And he continued to better himself for those around him more often than she did. That is why I don't care for mabel as a character; because she has repeatedly and willingly refused to psychologically grow, besides the frequent obsession of chasing romance despite being obviously too young to be thinking about it, yet doesn't regret trying to manipulate others, nor learning from either such actions she took. She has some of the best jokes, but it's usually when the episode's plot isn't focused on her, from my perspective anyway.
