Fieldsports Britain - how to throw sticks at small game

  • Maasai learn airgun accuracy and, in return, teach BASC staff how to use a rungu throwing stick - useful for knocking over both wounded game and small antelope. Plus they swap tips about game meat cookery. It’s not so jolly in South Wales where two shooters face the horror of an accidental discharge that hit one of them in the arm, followed by the unreasonable behaviour by their local police force, which seized their guns. We have probably the top reservoir fishing in the country in this week’s show: the Airflo Spring Invitational 2024 at Rutland Water. Dan Bibb of gunshop Shooting Sports talks about bolt-on bits and pieces for your PCP. Farmer and former MP Neil Parish gives his take on the UK election manifestos and how good or bad they will be for hunting, shooting and gun ownership. Ruaridh Ormiston talks about the garron stalking pony. We launch our social media survey - has Facebook put you in jail for expressing an interest in hunting or guns? Here’s how we plan to fight back. David brings you the news from the Fieldsports News stump and James has the latest RUclips hunting films in this week’s Hunting RUclips. Keep it #FieldsportsBritain

    An awesome edition guys, one of the best in a while. However, I can't believe the attitude of the police. I know they have to look at public safety, but this individual case has nothing to do with that. Once again, another sign of misunderstanding and bias.

    Venison?… Why don’t you just call it deer?
    Kebab? …. Meat on a stick?
    🤔

      Why don't we call our meat what it is? We don't have weird names for fruit, veg, nuts. But we do for some meats...veal, venison etc. I imagine there is a sensible reason...perhaps not?

    • @anthony208
      @anthony208 3 месяца назад +1

      I agree, call a spade a spade, venison is an even more generic name, doesn’t it come from the latin word venatus “to hunt”, i understand it originally referred to all game meat deer, boar, hare, goat and antelope? etc. Better describe the meat as deer and the particular species of deer?🤔

    Free speech does only concern government, not privately owned companies. They decide what they want, and doesn't want, posted on their platforms. If government says you can't post it, it's a free speech matter, If facebook tells you the same it isn't.

  • @anthony208

    Bit rich tory MP blaming Reform for potential split in right wing vote, a vote for the current Conservative party is not a right wing vote, given their policies in recent years have been further to the left than Liebour. Maybe the Con-servaytives should of remained a right of centre party, then its core vote would not be deserting it🤦‍♂️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

    Given the party choices, I believe it’s about time the land management communities forgot about tribal party allegiances (which are all but pointless now) and started engaging and educating their respective MP, then hold them to account for their actions through proactive communications. Don’t rely on lobby groups alone. Flood them with opportunities to meet and learn.
    These are not presidential elections. You and your region are represented by an individual. Engage with that person and find out their motivations.
    No point electing someone locally who says will vote pro-field sports but who either not turn up, not speak for you, and will vote take away your human rights and your basic social needs, often these days with no feeling of accountability.

    Appreciate the point about splitting the centre-right vote but it's so unlikely the Tories will get back in that you may as well try and get as many Reform MPs in the House as possible.

    • @mrsteve170
      @mrsteve170 3 месяца назад +1

      I don't remember a better time to vote for a third party. I think we are in for a very bad time under Labour. But the "conservatives" have done this all to themselves. They split their own party long before Farage joined Reform. On cultural issues they are on the left of centre. They are The Party of mass migration. Labour will just continue the same. I hope Reform are here to stay and I hope they don't get infiltrated and diluted by the wrong tory mps.
