Grew up in Castle Rock. Went to Rock Ridge Elementary, CRMS, and DCHS. It is insane how much the town has grown since 1997.

What is causing the increase in population?

@moa3008 It's a pretty desirable area. For a long time, it was affordable to live and commute to Denver. Might still be, but I haven't lived there in 15 years.

I recently moved to Denver and had just got back from spending a weekend in the Colorado Springs area as well as Castle Rock. I found Castle Rock to be extremely beautiful and very livable place. Definitely will be eyeing Castle Rock for my next place to live.

I just spent 3 hours in the car for a half hour trip. This town is the worst place to drive in the entire timezone and its entirely filled with yuppies. I really h8 this place like no other on earth.

$1,000,000 house in castle rock costs $400,000-$500,000 where I live. That can’t be justified considering you live in the mountains and the weather is pretty poor.

Your overselling this place they took a cute town and put high rise apartments and be ready to pay extra taxes in restaurants. The shopping is terrible you have to drive 30 miles to go to an indoor mall because half of the stores in the outlet are closedown.. get ready to pay higher taxes in this county. There is no water yet they keep building. Our property taxes are going up about 40percent because liberals voted the Gallagher amendment down,oh and you have to pay and 4 percent for groceries. At least California has nice weather and beaches.

I've been a Castle Rock resident since 2015. The only thing I agree with you on is that the Town will not stop building and yet they continue to tell us to conserve water because the supply is limited. There is an abundance of shopping here and the Outlets are not closed by any means. My kids frequent the Outlets with their friends. As far as property taxes, you couldn't be more off base. My taxes increased some and I do live in a very desirable neighborhood. Taxes didn't go up that much, nowhere near 40%, maybe 5% if that.
Having said that, Castle Rock is a very nice place to live but homes are not cheap. A personal vehicle is a requirement to live here. We pay mass transit taxes but have get none of the benefit. You simply need to keep proper perspective as with anywhere you choose to live.
