I was working on King Street prior to the bombing, the homeless lady with the suitcase used to sleep outside our premises on the bench, I think her name was Mary? Miss Sambles Square Great to see it again Thanks for posting
Used to work a stone's throw from here and drink in the Old Wellington when it was on this site, before it was moved next to the cathedral after the bomb. It's far better sited now. The Shambles is a prime example of the architectural disasters inflicted by the council on Manchester in the 1960s and 70s.
A claustrophobic space you would walk quickly out of. Unusual view of the Arndale Corporation St entrance and the overhead link to M&S destroyed by the bomb.
Remember drinking in the Shambles and Sinclairs thru out the 80s. I used to work across the rd in Seftons pub and when it was called the Issac Newton ahhh good days.
Me and my brother had a fight outside the old Sinclair's about 83 we was about 8 and 10 loads come out the pub to split us up. I was gutted i was winning 😂
this was from the late 80s? I was born in early ops. its amazing how things were the same back then that it us now, nowadays people go around recording in public with cameras and back then this guy was recording in publuc and people are bothered that you're recordjng, just like how people are still bothered by it today. of course RUclips didn't exist back then, people didn't have computers and the internet wasn't around
