    Thank you for the video. I too, had a fail two days ago and rebatched today. My original batch accelerated too fast. I added a fragrance oil to the rebatch and some purple mica. I learned a lot and this video helped me much. Thanks again from Texas!

    I don't know what the percentage of liquid is in your recipe, but you can try to add more during the cooking process. Also, adding yogurt after the cook adds fluidity.

    Cocoa butter destroyed my soap many many times , notnsure why or how, but you did a great job saving this on camera !! 😅

    I honestly laughed out loud.....I did one of these almost exactly...except I didn't rebatch, I just plopped it in the mold.... DISASTER! Thank you for sharing!! Fantastic!

    I made my first batch of soap yesterday using orange essential oils and it also got really thick and I molded it and the top cracked. I might rebatch it. Thanks!

    Could you tell me where to get the soap cutter?
    BTW, I thought the soap was beautiful. I liked the way the edges looked especially since the inside was so smooth. Everyone trying to get a unique look. Your's was simply serendipitous.

      hi! I got it from Etsy - here is the link to the shop: www.etsy.com/shop/budhaffner?ref=yr_purchases
      I don't see the wooden one anymore but there is one that is plastic that is pretty close.
      Thanks so much for your kind words - I have been scared to try this scent blend since this LOL

    I did exactly what you taught us with a batch of cold process soap that ended up being very oily… after copying your idea (thank you for the video!!!) I ended up with a “spongy” to touch product. It’s only the second day. I haven’t de-molded it yet… but I’m not very hopeful

    Holly at Missouri River soaps did this fragrance in a soap I just watched the pack and chat and before that the making of the soap. The EO mix sounds amazing. Just goes to show how different 2 soaps recipes can be. This was a really educational video Thankyou for sharing.

      Thank you for your comment. I saw that Holly made it a month or two ago and it reminded me that it has been on my to-do list for about a year now. It is crazy about how your recipe can act so differently, makes it hard to trust reviews doesn't it?!

    The soap I made was not too hard. What went wrong while making it?

  • @christinemclean9973

    I did the same thing. It was a watermelon fragrance. I shoved it into the loaf quick and it did come out fine afterward. Just not my intention. So it was really just my expectation that failed.

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  9 месяцев назад

      That is true, a soap fail isn't a true fail if it is safe to use. I was really worried this would not be safe to use if I didn't get that oil I had pulled in the batch. I really did end up loving the smell of this soap and every once in awhile think "maybe I'll try again" LOL - I"m a glutton. I'm glad your soap came out fine too!🤗

    Hi there, my recipe is 25% butters, 10% of which is cocoa butter, (palm free), and I don't usually have this issue unless it is a fragrance problem, I do soap at really low temperature between 80 to 90 degrees though and only blend to emulsion.

    Great video. I did end up with the same result However, I let the batch to dry up. Now, the end result is a "chewy-gummy" bar, can I still rebatch it?

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks!! You can certainly rebatch it - as long as you are certain the ingredients were all measured properly and nothing was forgotten. you could also shred it down and use it for confetti soap 🤗

    If you added everything but the green you could have gotten a really nice color. So hard when you have an accent color in there like the green. Looks great in a swirl but not in a blend. I bet it smells great though!

      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  3 года назад +1

      Oh My Gosh!! I didn't even think to hold the green... Now I'm mad at myself LOL. What a great suggestion.

    Does it not get to a softer gel phase in the crock pot when it's that fresh? I'm getting ready to do this with my first batch that seized up so quickly (because I was new and didn't know to may not use immersion blender once adding in FOs and colorants...oopsie...LOL!) because it smells amazing but it's just "meh" in bar form.

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  3 года назад

      Hi Heather - I guess I don't understand your question...but even freshly made I can crock pot it and it is fine, just don't need to add as much liquid as if the bars are old. Did you crock pot yours?? How did it turn out?

    • @CarolinaGirlCreationZ

      @@WalnutCreekBathBoutique I did! I rebatched that first one I made that I mentioned and it's a bit crumbly on the tops but much less ugly as it was when I initially made it. I had globbed it all into a 3lb loaf mold and it didn't look very pleasing to me. So I rebatched it in a small crock pot that I bought for rebatching older soaps. I added a touch of water with a sprinkling of sugar for bubbles because my son tried one of the bars and said it didn't bubble well and I also added a bit of salt to hopefully help in hardening better. I put it in these super cool river rock molds just to try them out before I try to make soap with colors that actually look like river rocks (for masculine soaps I hope to try soon) and oh my gosh! They are AWESOME looking! Here is the mold I used. I saw it on Elly's Everyday Soap making channel! :) Thank you so much for your feedback!
      Here is the river rock mold I used. I love that it comes with two that have 6 rock molds each! It perfectly held my 3lb rebatch! :)

And thanks for the link - I've looked at those a few times ever since they were on the soap challenge club's challenge this year but haven't taken the plunge to purchase them. - how to package them is holding me up... - and thanks for sharing Elly's channel, I checked it out and really like what I have seen so far - heading there now to binge watch a few before work LOL 🤗

    I dont know if this is right or not but when you add your scent in your supose to just stir with a spoon not the stick blender. thats what i herd.

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  2 года назад

      probably Delos LOL - but I had seen a soapmaker use this same blend a year earlier and she had no trouble whatsoever with stick blending it. It goes to show how much your recipe really plays a part in how things move along!

    This is happening to me when I do molds pvc the bottom is to soft and the rest of the soap is hard and ready to cut will try this my last batch I cut 2 inches off the bottom and tossed them not I know I can fix seems like since it's in the bottom of the pvc still might have water inside and it's not getting out might consider doing pvc sideways and opening on side not top of that makes sense I never had this happen when normal square mold like your using this is my 5th batch

    How do I fix a bar soap that refuse to harden after three weeks, could it be the mentor I added that affected it

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  2 года назад

      Hello - I would assume if it is not hard there was a problem with the ingredients - maybe something was not added, or under-weighed. Or maybe the lye was old and not as active as it should be. I am not sure what you mean by "mentor" - but I'm afraid that it sounds like it will not be salvageable. Rebatching like I did here is only for soaps that you are well aware of what the error is and can fix it with the cooking process.

    It’s not your recipe that caused you soap to get thick like that. Some essential oils cause this to happen, and it’s best to add it last.

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  3 года назад

      Thanks for the info Brandy! I saw another RUclipsr use this same blend and she had plenty of time to mix and pour a fairly nice swirl...so I just assume it is my recipe more than the blend. But you are right - adding them at the end is the way to go!😊

  • @feliciathomas1031
    @feliciathomas1031 10 месяцев назад +1

    Unfortunately, you need not let it cook long enough. Your soap should look translucent. You also did not add water when you started rematching. I see this was done two years ago. I’m sure you have learned from this experience.

    Also you stated hot process will be rustic, not so pretty at the top, some part of the soap will be crusty. This is all not true. I genuinely hope you do more research before stating false information.

    Definitely the EO and not your recipe.
