That cop was clearly very intellectually short by not knowing how evidence works, which seems to be very common.
He mixed up evidence of an incident taking place, and evidence that an incident has taken place. In this case the latter, which the Police already have evidence for.

Police failure to try and intimidate you into leaving with that statement about seizing your camera. Also an abuse of his powers since it would be totally unnecessary. They can't even seize evidence off witnesses to a crime, they can only ask for it.
