    Just a suggestion, on the lathe turning, on that material you need to feed much faster and cut deeper, so you get the chip to break. You will still get a good surface finish. As the diameter gets smaller increase your rpms.

    Use metal sealed "6201 ZZ C3" bearings -they're a way better quality bearing. The number shows the size (12 x 32 x 10), ZZ indicates 2 metal seals and the C3 indicates high speed, high load rating. Koyo is an excellent brand. 2rs (rubber seals) bearings are more a standard duty thing.

    I find it hard to break a chip with 4140 on my little lathe, spaghetti junction. If someone would only give me a lathe with twice the grunt...
