It is so subtle one has to experience and then remember this experience, I am sometimes lost, and sometimes enlightenment comes alone, I see everything but nothing is here at same time, is there a book with teaching of this Master or anything else to recommend me please ? thankyou for these videos they are of great value.
Master Jinen ,🙏🙏🙏 ( A discourse by the Tang famed Zen Grandmaster Hui Hai.👇) The flower is yellow because "that which perceives", perceives it yellow. Not because the flower is yellow. Without the perception of "that which perceives", the yellow flower does not exist, let alone its colour. 😊🙏🙏
Master Jinen, thank you very much.🙏🙏🙏 True Self is neither Self nor Selfless. Which also means "True Self is not Self and not not-Self! To wipe away the clinging of notions of Self and Selfless in his followers' Minds as taught by the Buddha on the Dharma of Non-Attachment. 😊🙏🙏
Thank you EL Branden 🙏 In Diamond Sutra, the Buddha speaks to, "Subhuti, not only the dharma, the not-dharma also to be relinquished (detached) to attain Anuttara Samyak Sambodhi." (ie Self Enlightenment) "Non-Attachment" is the fundamental teaching of the Diamond Sutra. For it is written - "Non-Attachment is (Causeless thus the Ultimate Reality) the basis for all Dharmas to be established." (Nirdesa Virmalakirti Sutra refers.)
When I try to do zazen regularly, within a couple days, I just start feeling disoriented and confused... which eventually leads to agitation. I am sitting quietly and doing my best to release thoughts as they are; attaining almost totally a quiet mind during zazen, but when get on with my life, some sort of a disorientation settles in eventually... Is this normal for beginners?
It is absolutely normal and expected. Whether for so-called beginner or so-called veteran. These are just empty concepts. This will pass at some point, probably and/or you will get used to the unsettling experiences. Zen practice is absolutely not about fun, specialness, pleasant, fuzzy feel good states. It is for and about seeing what you are. Period. And this can be seen and done in a very short period of time, not years or decades or 'lifetimes'. Don't believe all the nonsense that you may be exposed to. Zazen is showing you - who is pure awakeness only, how fragmented the (impersonal) human mind is. There is no (you) who is doing anything. It is awakeness that is seeing all of this and reading these words (through) the human eyes. There is nothing to attain and it is impossible to "quiet the mind" and this is not the point or reason for zazen anyway. So try to see and understand that any and all of the mainstream notions about zen meditation or meditation in general are misleading, wrong and bullshit. Do not try to do anything. Zazen is 24/7/365 living and not some nonsense holy or special time or place or sitting posture. This is the mind, the ego illusion trying to eliminate itself which is what keeps most people imprisoned not for years, but for decades. What ever you are experiencing is awakeness experiencing it. There is no you to change, alter, let go of, etc. Academic-like theories, concepts, stories and fairytales can not and will not help you. They will be nothing but pointless distractions. This is actually extremely simple. Dont complicate it with beliefs and what you 'think' is true, but isn't. I am an ordained Soto zen priest in the Katagiri Roshi lineage. I offer zen practice instruction and counseling for groups, couples, singles, kids, seniors, chaplaincy and suicide prevention counseling. I hope this answers your questions and helps you. Please feel free to ask me anything. Best wishes, Rev. Ryokan
