I work at Nelvana (Corus which runs YTV) and have actually worked on some of the YTV show bumpers made today. Albeit in a fairly minor role. But still, I was born in 91 and grew up glued to YTV. While their image is certainly not the same today. It was hard not to stop and smell the roses.
They're great nostalgia flashbacks for me as well! Yes, I was only 4-9 in 1998-2003 (the 2002 ones were also used in 2003) but nonetheless many are very nostalgic for me.
ytv during these years was so ahead of its time. even today the creativity and comedy ytv brought was overwhelmingly good. they really should go back to this and stay like this. my child self feels spoiled realizing how good this is...
Probably the last years i ever watched YTV, you don't see stuff like this anymore... so much creativity in the channel IDs alone. I used to get those Whoa Magazines from Pizza Hut around this time too. Even before that i remember YTV and Pizza Hut having a pretty cool relationship, awesome promos and giveaways.
I watched YTV from late/fall 1998-2013. Indeed, lots of creativity in the channel IDs, bumpers and promos back in late/fall 1998-summer 2004. That was when the 'Keep It Weird' era was in full swing. By late/fall 2004, YTV started its gradual phasing out of the era or aesthetic first with the removal of the multi-mascots in primetime promos and the introduction of the Bionix block. By late/fall 2006, the 'Keep It Weird' era was mostly phased out (only 3 Hairy Thumbs Up and The Zone retained the aesthetic) and this was when I started watching the channel much less (but still wouldn't say rarely). By late/fall 2008, the 'Keep It Weird' era was totally phased out with the retirement of the 3 Hairy Thumbs Up block and this was when I rarely watched the channel. You're not missing out on much having last watched the channel in 2002 or 2003.
I miss what YTV used to be. I grew up a 90's kid and remember watching the channel from the early 90's up until sometime in the mid 2000's. I don't have cable anymore so I have no idea what's on YTV anymore. But whatever is on it, it can't match how good the channel was in my childhood.
Cool to see some of the stuff that I created for YTV floating around on RUclips. The 'Monkey Machine' ID was created stop motion by one of our many talented producer/designers. Huge undertaking.
@@timilodeon526 that's right - the on air promotions / creative services dept. was made up of 4 of us producer / directors and three motion graphic designers. We created this stuff from about '97-2000. Funny story about the World's Biggest Toe....we had all the props from the shoots laying around our office for a few years and then our boss wanted to clean up and so I took home the Toe and we used it for Halloween at our house. A buddy would crawl inside it (it was about 4 feet high) and wiggle it around, freaking out the kids. It eventually rotted as latex does...by the end it smelled like a giant fart.
Years ago when I worked on YTV sets with my Dad, I used to go and help out in the catering area alot and I would end up getting to know everybody. One day they asked me to stand in place of an actor while they got the cameras set up for what they were shooting. That clip at 3:00 was the clip that I stood in for. I had to hold a plate and do all the same stuff that they are doing in the video.
There are lot of Streaming service shows (Glitch Techs, Pinky Malinky, Costume Quest, Legend Quest, The Baby-Sitters Club) they could add to YTV's lineup
I vividly remember many of these (including the Dexter's Lab one). These were from fall 1998-summer 2003 (yes the 2002 ones were also 100% used in early-summer 2003).
the vibrant purples oranges and greens and scenes of night and evening are just such a vibe, idk how to explain it but its something ive always loved and im realizing the correlation between than and the zone now from watching this video
Insane to look at all this stuff once again! My brain lit up like a Christmas Tree as soon as a few of these clips and whacky monsters started appearing. Know well times change, but the odd time I might swing by YTV to see a movie they got on, the whole look of the ZONE has changed immensely. This is a nice little step back to enjoy some old times. HUGE thanks for pulling all these countless clips back and in such prime quality as well! o0o
i remembered the claymation where the guy wakes up in the middle of the the night, sings for like 2 seconds, then goes back to sleep lol! incidentally 1998 to 2002 i was 9 to 13. come back me childhood D:!
Man the good ol days. i was like 7 or 8 in 2000 so this was a few years after i started watching ytv. Fresh Phil was on when I started watching. The number 25 will always trigger a memory of ytv for me.(The channel it was on on the cable we had).
Thank you for this. There were a lot of new promos I could add in my collection of promos. I’ll only ask if I can use the promos. I’ll try to remember to give you credit
You’re all lucky you have YTV unfortunately I live in the U.S where us Americans don’t have YTV sadly!!! 😰 If I had a channel, I would make it exactly like YTV!!!
This was such a weird watch! I remember basically every one of the bumpers and shows from 1998 to 2000, then basically 2001 hit and everything faded. I remember this was the era that Teletoon came online as well, which I thought had better shows, and seemed to cater better to some of the older audiences as well. Even as a kid I wasn't a fan of the "Keep it Weird" era, with the gross creatures, etc. Much preferred the old ones with the sneaker, TV, robot, 'Short Circuitz', etc.. I remember tuning back after not watching YTV for a while (channel 12 at the time, I still remember lol ) and seeing Sailor Moon, which I loved in the mid-90s, but Terri Hawkes wasn't voicing her, the look changed, they did away with the DIC music and that was pretty much it for YTV for me. I was also 12-13 then, so it was par for the course. But this was a trip; appreciate how well put together it is! And I have to say the graphics they used aged well.
It's definitely been 25 years since YTV started to "Keep It Weird".

This is just the perfect bit of nostalgia flashbacks I needed. I was roughly 10-14 over the course of these years.

"Mister Lister and his sister lived in a twister!"
I've been looking for that one for ages
the good ol' days when ytv had variety in their programing. instead of playing sponge bob five times in a row.
There are lot of Streaming service shows (Glitch Techs, Pinky Malinky, Costume Quest, Legend Quest, The Baby-Sitters Club) they could add to YTV's lineup
@@alexosei-kofi1652 So true!
Yeah the SpongeBob and Fairly odd parents was what killed it for me
The Early 2000s were great for YTV, until it was ruined by showing Spongebob and The Fairly Oddparents all the time and later the Loud House.
Wow does this ever bring back memories. Loved ytv in the late 90s
Ahhhh sweet childhood, still remember this stuff pretty well.

yesss thank you so much for this batch of old YTV

The Vortex bumpers were even cooler.
Ugh I wanna go back to these times

Why is there Dexter's Laboratory on YTV?
That's the best thing that could've ever happened in my country!
Even if I wasn't born in this era, i'm for some reason nostalgic for this
