TMA needs to get over the idea that if an opponent throws a punch you can just step aside, and he’ll stand there helpless waiting for you to do whatever you want.
The instructor might be amazing but this format of demonstrating the technique just makes us look like we have no idea how fighting works.
Even with some of these nonsense attacks, Nagato always demonstrates great technique concepts.

If I remember rightly, Nagato came from either a thai or kick boxing before practising Ninjutsu. Correct me if I am wrong on this. RUclips is a wonderful resource to see such footage, thank you for sharing x

Why was the video sped up?
Taijiustu maintains that there techniques are too dangerous to work with…. And that sentiment is extremely dangerous and arrogant to assume… I was in taijiustu for over a year and my teacher had a very good heart but the reality of the class was impractical we practiced one technique for an hour trying to do a lock and I always thought why’ll I’m trying to do this one lock they could bomb on me from behind…. Without sparring in a martial art it’s like trying to dance in a competition without getting judged on your progress.. I had to let it go and it hurt my heart because I wanted to believe it would work but it didn’t that’s why I left… I still believe the showy martial arts can work but sparring is a necessity along with improvising the techniques to a realistic setting
This is also why I left the Bujinkan world many years ago.
Just a counter opinion:
That’s a shame. (Ninpo) Taijutsu is something you study and then apply to things you practice. In the military my understanding of body alignment and movement designed for armor was beyond beneficial. The learning curve for learning new weapons systems was shorter than it would have been. It also allowed me to gain proficiency in other martial arts quickly, always retaining taijutsu as a base.
When I had my child and was walking around with her in my arms I can assure you the last thing I was capable/willing of doing was boxing or taking someone to the ground. What I did practice was movement with my child. We learned to move together and even now it’s a deep bond that feels like a form of telepathy at times when I need to lift her out of a pool, creek bed, or walk with her over uneven terrain.
Remember when folks were going around wearing “tap out” shirts looking for a fight? You know how there is always someone in the jujitsu class out with an injury? Perhaps best to observe and let those trends pass you by. More than enough of people in jail for involuntary man slaughter.
I’ve boxed and enjoyed it but at some point it’s akin to setting your house on fire to prove your fire extinguisher works.
I learn things and strip them away as needed but taijutsu _endures_ as my base.
Ninpo is the path of endurance. Every thing in life has a cost and now 30(?) years into the MMA craze the pile of broken dolls is starting to pile up.
a katana sword slash cannot be dodged, that's not real.
The try to dodge, doesn't mean it will work but better than stay and do nothing.
Keep in mind not one of these techniques will ever work

@@BrokenTengu99 I studied for 8 years and received my black belt under Hashmi and Nagato.....then realised once in the ring with a national thai boxing champ this ninjutsu shit is about as effective as aikido....

You obviously have no idea about mitigating circumstances, like weapons, numbers, and condition of attackers , as you don't have the same circumstances inside the ring as you do on the street. And it's kind of hard to debunk something that has relative success or failure relative to the user. Another bullshit argument and conclusion. And if you really spent eight years in Iraq and Afghanistan, which I highly doubt was in a combat role, you would know that. But I guess that's the wonderful thing about the internet... You can be whatever you want to be... Right buddy?
