I’m impressed with how well the VLR 100cc engine did compared to the shifter on track time. I know my vlr feels fast but that comparison is awesome! Thanks for the great videos
You know what would be cool? Instead of starting them both at the same time, have them finish at the same time. Start the LO206 while paused on the shifter. Time it so that they both finish at the same time so we can see the shifter chasing it down. Boom!
I have a Shifter and a DD2, both are super fun to drive, but completely different driving from one to the other, in my case, I get to do about 2 seconds faster with the KZ, in my local track I do 122km/h with the DD2, and 132km/h with the KZ, but DD2 is faster on the bends and KZ obviously faster on the straights. Nice video 👍 thanks 🙏
@Basel Al Mantheri I don’t understand your question, a DD2 is an engine with two gears, And Senior is a category in karting for adults, apples and oranges
@@EVO1087R its not just engine and gearbox that need rebuulding every 20hrs which costs alot, they eat tyres at £180 per set in a dozen laps, they break easily in an accident, parts wear out faster. A tag 125cc single speed is far cheaper, able to run tyres far longer unless its a race, so far cheaper to practice and repairs far lower. A few k per year for a casual driver is about what i pay on my tag 125, and the 4stroke types are very cheap to run having half the power of the tag125 so repairs due to stress and wear and tear are very low.
I wanna buy a kart, should i buy a DD2 or a shifter engine? How fast does the DD2 accelerat to 100kph? How resistant ist the DD2 in terms of service needed?
the dd2 is easier to drive but slower so if you want the extra speed go with shifter, the 0-100 i think is like 3.5 seconds although it doesnt matter since its only one launch in a race and the service is going to be like 50 hours for an engine rebuild but there are other components that need to be changed but shifter will be even more expensive to keep going but they will have more people racing them
You gotta use the whole rev range on the Rok shifter. In the wrong gear and short shifting a lot. Also overbraking and not engine braking much. Shifter has a loooot more potential lap time available
Slightly faster on the straights and can take turns at a lot higher speeds. I started with a 206 at DKC and quickly upgraded to a VLR as both engines are compatible with the same chassis.
Good info on the LO206. A fast time in the rentals is low 70s while the kart in the video cut a 64s. Plus rental kart performance is all over the map and significantly impact lap times.
Can you get your hands on an aixro (wankel), 125 direct drive, 175 direct drive or 175 shifter? Maybe you can get money with the YT reviews and flipping the engines.
@@joseph_day2024 DKC does sell dd2 (new, used, and parts) but you'd have to ask for what is available. But I agree that finding a used kart is much cheaper but online can be risky.

BRO keep blessing up with that content. Go race for all of us whos track is under snow right now :'(
Very cool video and educational for seeing the different classes - thanks!
You should do a comparison with a VLR 100 and a KA100. Many people ask that question
I think there is barely a difference between the two
@@joseph_day2024 there’s a tenth or two difference
VLR looks funky so thats 0.3 seconds slower already
A tenth or two is a lot though
Very cool! The way you did your comparisons made it easy to see the differences. Thanks.
The DD2 looks the most enjoyable but the shifter would be more fun for competition

Great comparison,
But nothing compares to a shifter. It's a wild ride and sometimes feels like you're along for the ride even though you're driving.
Man that shifter sounds expansive to run... I’m all about the LO206 speeds and budget
Shifters are insane to drive, but man, are they expensive to keep competitive.
Two stokes ate not that complicated but i don’t know hard a 6 speed a transmission is to work on

My budget is laying on $200, and i want a kart for driving and chilling around. Anyone knows one good kart?
What is the difference between kz1 and kz2?
Hi guys, how big is the difference between a 125 shifter and a normal 125?
you should make more shifter kart videos there great!
Thank you AP!

How do you get that little view of the track in the top left corner?
Great vid
Thank you, it's fun to see how fast a shifter kart is.
love it!
How much quicker are the l206 compared to the rental league carts?

Awesome! Now try shifter vs superkart.

Nice video :D
Thank you!
Awesome, Does your local Track have DD2 Racing Class? Looking to buy a DD2 Sodi Kart
DKC does race DD2. DD2 is a great choice if you go with one.
I don’t think they sell them, and you will find a better price online rather than buying from dkc
