    Let us remember that this was in 1981, when some of the top women skaters didn't have consistent 2As.
    The point of doing ten 2As following a couple of her regular exhibition numbers there was to: (1) please the audience; and (2) appeal to us that she can do ten difficult jumps in a row, even after performing two exhibition programs.
    Frankly, though, I don't believe most of the top female skaters today would be able to do ten 2As in a row--following two exhibition programs, no less.

    I often wonder whether Midori wrapped her leg in order to rotate slowly. Her coach said that she did not teach Midori how to jump as Midori was able to jump from the Day One. She basically helped Midori to improve jumps. One of the things the coach told Midori was to start rotating after she went high in the air. The coach believed that it would stabilize the jumps. In any case, most female skaters can not complete the rotation if they rotate slowly like Midori.

    the 3A was so in her reach, she doesn't even keep her legs tight and she still got all the way around

    With others who tried to do multiple jumps like these. their jumps get smaller and smaller in height, while they get shorter in distance and sloppier in execution. Midori Ito never seems to get tired at all in between her jumps.

    Lots of height but a wrap like a roller skater...incredible that she is able to hold on the the landing with such I high wrap.

    It's all symantics at the end of the day, what she did was amazing and she and got even better with time and maturity. She, Kristi, Dorothy, and Peggy are the epitome of classiness and talent to me. My favorite skaters from the old school.

    That's very very impressive!! Wowowow I wish i could do that... those are all doubles too! :) Just wondering why her freeleg is so high?? It makes it look more like she's doing a scratch spin position in the air rather than a cross... looked a little funny to me but it was still amazing!

  • @duoweiyang

    Hold on, shouldn't that be a world record?! I mean, of all the skating jumps out there, axels are the most difficult ones. WOW...

    @ChariceBillboard Tell everyone else that, don't hate because she made something of herself.

  • @moietmavieana

    They were all in a row... You can't do combinations with the Axel, it's not a loop or a toe loop... So there has to be a little transition between two jumps...

  • @sbe79
    @sbe79 16 лет назад

    Hahaha... imagine that she started doing TRIPLE axels afterwards. Yeah, she's long since retired. Her last World Championships was in 1996. Her leg position was always pretty bad, but she always got the rotation.

    @ChariceBillboard it was a different time back then, they were supposed to do a "90 degree leg" and plus you do ten double axels in a row and then tell me how easy it is

    well, dont take this the wrong way but it took me a year to learn single axel. but hay! my sis learned it in 4 months! so keep ur hope!
    one thing to remember is to snap when u get into the air. keep ur legs in and as soon as u feel the ice, release and check out (land)
    good luck and best wishes!

    I'm gonna try this with my single Axel and see if I can do it- doubtful. It took me 15 months to land my Axel, but part of that I was concentrating on field moves and not jumps.

    wraps leg too high

  • @sk8tingandcontortion
    @sk8tingandcontortion 12 лет назад

    that's really great, but she really does wrap her leg while in a backspin position in the air, and that is definitely not good and almost impossible to correct what with how far she is in her career.

  • @LadyStylePrincesss
    @LadyStylePrincesss 12 лет назад

    I don't get the idea to repeat the same jump for ten times. I can do my double for 10 times too, but what's the point?

  • @ChariceBillboard
    @ChariceBillboard 13 лет назад

    it so ugly.. i like axel with legs together... not 90 degree leg.
