    If you stick the tablecloth(plastic oilcloth) on the washing line in the direct sunlight. I will disappear it also does it with tomato stains. Lovely to see you back and I'm enjoying your vlogs. I'd make the cherry pattern into a smaller bag you could use it for make up brushes.

      @karensewsslowly  9 дней назад +1

      Eeeh thank you Samantha I didn't know that, I will give it a try the minute we get some sun 😂 Although it's not expensive to replace the tablecloth it's a bit of a chore and to be fair we are just as messy when we are up there! I will definitely use the cherry bag for something - put too much effort into the quilting to just bin it. Have a lovely week 🥰xx

    Karen, your bags are so cute! I never try to see from memory. When I get cocky enough to try not referring to the instructions is when I make major boo boos, no matter how often, or recently, I‘ve made the item. I tell myself “They went to the trouble to write instructions because they expect me to follow them”.😂
    Your sateen fabric is lovely. I’m looking forward to seeing what you make.X

    Aw Karen, I was shouting at the screen, it’s on the wall behind you 😂😂😂😂😂 that was so funny 👏👏
    Keep going with the bags 👍 they are lovely.
    That first fabric is beautiful, it would make a beautiful dress.
    Lovely to see you back ❤

      What am I like - I couldn't believe it when I spotted it later and I did think that everyone would have been yelling at me like a panto "it's behind you" - what a daft loon. I just come back to the sewing room to tackle those bags again wish me luck 🤔🥰xx

  • @andrearyan816

    The pattern being on the wall behind you was hilarious 😂 The thin plisse would make a lovely over skirt with an underskirt in white or silver to make it double layer.

    @kathleensmith1522 13 дней назад

    You said on the pink bag that you cut a 3 cm square. It looked like 3 inches on each side when you held up the part to be sewn. But....some things appear larger or smaller on camera so that may not be what happened. That bag is somewhat tricky. I somehow ended up with the loop or strap on the end but it worked for carrying my small travel irob. Maybe you can still use it even if it's not perfect. The pink one you made first is very pretty.

    • @karensewsslowly
      @karensewsslowly  12 дней назад

      Yeah didn't explain it very well I had cut the pattern about 2" bigger all over so had cut about a 3" square out. I cut the 2.5" square out on the second bag I made and it was a little narrow so that's why the bigger cut out on this one - but as you see I made a total mess anyway 🙄The bit I find tricky on this bag is the top stitching on the second bit of zip (the side that you turn it through on). 🥰xx

      Lynne pet I'll be happy with one flippin' make up bag had another go tonight and forgot to topstitch (about the 4th step) so started unpicking - literally started again, ironed all the fabric to get it all nice and smooth etc then lowered the needle onto the metal zip and snapped the needle - I thought the end flew off so dismantled the needle plate etc and tried to fish said end of needle out with a really strong magnet as I couldn't see it. Just come back up to the room to switch everything off and answer few comments and discovered the end of the needle still on the thread!!! 😡🤣🥰xx

    Hi Karen, I hope you don’t mind but I laughed at your bag problems. I’m so glad I’m not the only person who gets mixed up when sewing. I had a go at the Donny shirt recently. What a fiddle, everyone says they run it up in an hour. Not me I spent ages on it then to crown it all, it was TOO SMALL. It’s now in the bottom of the cupboard where I threw it. Love your blue floral fabric, it’s just beautiful, can’t wait to see what you make with it. Happy sewing 🧵🪡🇦🇺

      This is the reason I started this channel as everyone I watched back in the day never mentioned errors or wasting fabric because they'd made a garment too small etc. It was all about how lovely things turned out and I have to say I have had far more people say that they are like me and even a few of the regular RUclipsrs now admit to the odd mistake - albeit they know how to fix things when they run into a problem - I'm still figuring that one out!!🥰xx

    Hi Karen shame not to finish that bag it’s so cute you could cut the bottom off like you said and then use it for put sewing things in or knitting needles etc I love your quilted mat I love the 50s styles too so elegant , thank you for sharing your mistakes but it’s just a learning experience really , I wing my way through most projects I attempt lol 🤣Amanda xx

    Hi Karen, yes we have all made mistakes, I made the Tammy Handmade Cara cardigan and the first one was out of Ponte Roma fabric and a breeze. The second one a very light stretch jersey, got well ahead of myself and spent the next two days on and off scratching my head and knew I had done something wrong but could not figured out what. After much frustration it finally dawned on me after unpicking it all that I I had sewn the sleeve to the bottom of the cardigan! Despite the clear instructions on the tutorial I had managed to get it wrong, not once but twice. Thought my interfacing was rubbish as it wasn't sticking, bought some more then realised the first interfacing was actually sew in and not stick on, I cried lol I still cannot get my head around trousers, putting one inside out into the the other, no matter how its explained, I just don't get it. Three pairs of trousers in the naughty corner at the moment!

    That did me good!😅 I often watch tutorials, believe I know exactly what to do, then decide I know a better way to do it...with similiar results to you! 😂 Also, I hadn't thought about the 'Karen' association but wondered if people tuned in to see 'Slow stitching' which is becoming very popular. 🤔

      When I picked my channel name I had no clue 'slow stitching was a thing' until I did a search for my channel and all of this other type of sewing appeared - a bit too slow even for me - just don't have that patience. 😂🥰xx

      The ones with the ring pulls are from Amazon - they took a lot of finding mind. I don't have many haberdashery shops near me so Amazon is usually my go to place. I will try and copy the link (if I can remember how to do that into my description box above and let you know I've done it). 🥰xx

    Hy Karen I bought the Atelea Brunete La vest pattern which is a boxy jacket ,I’ve nearly thrown it away twice they’ve made the instructions much harder than necessary ,it’s in a bag at the moment I keep thinking I’ll have a lightbulb moment but it hasn’t happened yet and I can’t find a tutorial and my eyes aren’t very good at the moment I’ve got to have an injection in one eye ,not looking forward to that so if you ever see a tutorial for la vest please let me know 😤😤😤😤🥰
