Nice work man. Shoot if I had a guitar where the neck broke like that I’d probably take all the electronics out and throw it away. It would always seem damaged to me.or if I could have a brand new neck installed I’d be happy. But your thing here seems pretty good
Great stuff, thanks! When I see damage like that, On an expensive guitar like that, can only imagine how the owner allowed it to happen. Sure guitars on stands get knocked over all the time, but that neck looks like it was driven over by a forklift. You’re doing a great job, though, and ai’m looking. forward to the next video.
I am in awe of your skills! My journey into guitars is but a few months old, I’m 64 and obsessed. I never in a million years realized just how much labor is involved, new or repair nor did I realize just how much talent is out there. Thank your for sharing!
Oh no! Two way truss rod! Unoriginal! Lol just kidding, I dig your videos. Do you have a way of tapping a truss rod back into place and getting it to stay. I have a 86 custom that the truss rod has crept forward about 1/8th inch.
I just realized that the 25/50 model is from the Norlin era (duh), that explains why this guitar is so bad. They were all so bad back then, apparently. At least the Norlin era has that reputation now
I know I have commented in a similar fashion before on another Les Paul. Guess what, I'm back! OK, that being said, let me start by saying I'm not criticizing AT ALL. More playing devil's advocate. With all the surgery you're doing to that neck, any argument that it's the original neck is kinda not accurate. With that, wouldn't it be easier/faster/better/cheaper to just build a new neck using the same woods, and use the original headstock overlay?

WE need longer videos from you!!!!!! MUCH LONGER!!!
Your a very patient man, and that’s what makes you a craftsman. Thanks again for sharing.
A joy to watch you do this !!
Your LP repairs are my favorites, especially when they are pretty trashed.
thanks. this is a proper shit show
@@bigdguitars that's a mortgage payment on the neck alone so far!
@@bigdguitars Did you ever do a followup video on this? Can't find it
This one’s worth saving; special guitar. Great job!!!
My god! That poor guitar. I would have probably just asked for a new neck reusing the headstock veneer.
That's exactly what I suggested. 😎
Yep. I would’ve had a brand new neck well under way in a lot less time than it’s taken to sort this trashed neck out.
Dude this is so fun to watch. Can’t wait to play it when she’s finally finished :)
It’s pretty stable part 4 is not for faint of heart
Wow, what a lot of work! Thanks for your vids!

could you reinforce it with carbon fiber rods? to help get rid of the bow
I might have to yet. we shall see how this ends up

What a repair job. Makes me wonder at which point you would build new neck from scratch. This being a 25/50 I understand why you wouldn't.
Holy Smokes....Brave Man..
What a mess that neck is/was. You did really nice work. Maybe was easier taking the headstock's headplate off and make a new neck from scratch :D
I thought long about that one
Been waiting for this!

Man, that rascal seems to rival the 53. Looking forward to the finished product!
haha. yea those ebony inserts are hard to match up! love ya buddy!
@@bigdguitars, you got this! Keep up the good work, brother!
Feels like this guitar is too far gone, but fascinating to watch
can't believe this thing is even worth all the trouble in the first place
You need to try StewMac’s HeatStick for removing a neck. You’ll never go back to steam again.
You have big cojones to route that truss rod channel without a guide fence!
The truss rod was rusted?
Oh, I see what happened. Gibson misspelled it. Russt rod instead of truss rod. Dammit Gibson get it together

I have the main spline glue in already. watch me on insta for a preview
@@bigdguitars dude amazing job

You gotta be taking a bath on this one...

the worst was how it broke. If it hadn't been bad repaired this would be done already. This was a shit show
@@bigdguitars Oh yeah I bet. As soon as I saw the dip in the wood (that you just filled up) I was thinking this is a nasty one.

I wanted to keep the original stamps and not have it look like it was cut off. that would totally kill the value
@@bigdguitars, I get that. I'm following along, enjoying the fact that it's you doing the work, not me.
ITS BENT NOW!!!
nah we just getting started
Love the show!!!
Keep up the good work!!!
that neck is nasty..
The person played in a rain storm and left it out side? Yeah it’s just a 25/50. No big deal. Just saying 🤐
I don't know. I think it might of been a basement find after a drunken night etc..
@@bigdguitars you do good work my friend.🤐 2 cigars
