- Here's an update on my injuries since the Manchester Marathon. I am also sharing a slow Marathoner's goal/dream that might be coming true in the future.
Could a slow runner like me ever be an Abbott World Marathon Major finisher? Looks like I'll be starting with Chicago Marathon 2024!

Thank you! I've not done many trail runs but they're very different from road running and a lot of fun. I would like to run more at some point. Maybe after I get a bit better with road running first 😁

I was reading about the World Marathon Majors the other day. From what I read, I think that you can get into Boston without a qualifying time via a tour operator, a charity place or the extra ballot for people with enough stars.
Thank you 😊 This year I've decided not to say 'yes' to all races, but be more specific with the ones I actually want to run. I've heard about getting into Boston through tour operators or charity but they cost thousands of pounds/dollars. And I don't think I know enough people to be that generous to donate enough, which I believe is also in the thousands 😕 If I rely on getting in the other Marathon Majors through the ballot system I may never actually get that many stars in my lifetime. I'll keep trying though because who knows 🤷🏻♀️

I was looking up the Berlin marathon and that seems to be easier to get in and less expensive (at least compared to Boston, NYC and Tokyo).
I am interested in running London marathon one day and the number of people entering the ballot is crazy. It's possible to get a place through a running club though, i have been trying to look for a club that might give a slightly higher chance.
@@JPruns I would love to run London! I really wanted London to be my first Marathon but it was not meant to be. Considering how much pain I was getting during training, it was probably good I didn't get in as I would want to do better at London than I did in Manchester. I'll just keep entering and see. Not much we can about it other than try and have some hope 😊
Great update ❤ me again with advise 😢 running coach would be next stage, looking at your form 3.40 you look tight in hips, thus tight hip flexors and poor activation of posterior chain. Hard to tell without looking at mobility and flexibility tests, maybe a session with a PT to give you a program to work on at home. Great news about Chicago 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks. I wasn't running like I normally would because I was in pain as mentioned in the video. I'm already on a programme with my Physio to work on my imbalances and tightness 😊
Wow Congratulations on getting in to Chicago. Seems like you have a busy year planned. I wanted to do UTS25 this year too, but thought the registrations had closed. Just checked and it is still available. Only 3 weeks after London. Need to have a think...
Thank you! That's so weird. I'm sure I saw they posted something saying the 25K was sold out 🤔 You should be okay to run it. I'm not 100% fit and healthy and still don't know if my injuries are any better, but with trail running there's a lot of walking involved so I'm hoping I'll still be able to make it. Let me know what you decide. Might see you there 😁
