It would be interesting to make an experiment where you put every country the same development state and same youth rating and see how it goes. You could have weird results
As someone who played many seasons on many FM on a country with 72 Youth Rating I can tell you that each year there were a few good regens with 140+ or even 150+ PA regens. That means that for a country with lower YR but great teams and many divisions with high reputation it would be totally within the lines to have players over 150 PA ability each year (which is the minimum to be considered world-class once fulfilled). Maybe that's why national teams won't see such a dramatic drop in quality. Another thing is that for youth players PA can be increased based on determination and success on rare occasions. I've had Players with 150 ability who fulfill it at age 18 and posses high determination which results in their PA increasing to 180+
Really like these videos. One thing that I think you should do is edit your views on the squad and scouting page to show the hidden current ability and potential ability columns. It’ll make it easier to view, for example, the best Latvian players.
Would be interesting to see what would happen if you were to take a few very small nations, set their youth rating to 200 and then set everyone else to 0.
I didn't watch the original Zealand vid that showed that the dynamic youth rating didn't work, but I guess maybe this experiment shows that the rating has been fixed but it's clearly not the be all and end all for youth development. Very interesting vid mate, looking forward to any similar experiments you might have. Whilst I like the realism of FM, I think I like the storylines that you can get out of FM even more, some of which being the build a nation storylines that are possibly less realistic, so if there was some way to even toggle less realistic modes on (to make it fun and achievable) I wouldn't complain.
I was wondering do you need to start a new save after the winter update to have the dynamic youth rating changes apply or do they apply to previous saves as well?
This is such a good video, very informative too. I've always assumed youth rating was the defining factor for how good the newgens are. This proves it doesn't matter that much. I think the club's facilities and reputation must have a much bigger influence. Thanks for the info.
TomFM did a similar video too (as some dude in the comments already said, accusing you of copying him lol) but in there, Brazil didn't grow much either but Oman did (who i doubt would be a developed nation either) so there must be something else behind the scenes aside from just the developed status, I think you just didn't check the youth rating of lower ranked countries so maybe you didn't notice they grew more than Brazil? At least you didn't check it in the video. Maybe you can do a series of experiments where you leave everything the same except for 1 thing (developed status, game importance, youth rating, club reputation/facilities, all that stuff) and then figure out what exactly is affecting the players coming through and how much. PS: I do think youth rating affects stuff significantly, i play with a database which sets all of it to 200 nowadays (although it also does it with FA financial power, game importance etc) and the world class regens are a lot more diverse, you can see some from the Solomon Islands for instance, it's just one of many factors though, i assume the strength of clubs and leagues affects things a lot? Would be fascinating to see more :) anyway nice video, always enjoy those experiments
I think it makes a difference with a higher level, but that’s because all the clubs are also adding to that with high rep, good youth facilities etc but I don’t think it matters on the lower end when a lot of the clubs have all the infrastructure to produce good players
Would be interesting to see how a small nation like San Marino would evolve if they had perfect facilities and HOYD (San Marinese of course) for every club.
Love the experiments mate. Hopefully in 23 the dynamic ratings will actually be quicker to move. Most proper saves arent going for 100 years just to see it move 6 points. Only thing I will say though, is that some of the full screen cuts to just you are a bit jarring, particularly on the phone. Trying to look at some small writing and stats and then bam haha Keep up the good work though mate!
The funny thing is i am so confused what everybody is on about with africa not winning world cups. My 2022 world cup was won by Senegal. I had made no changes beforehand. I think they even beat france in the final.
Bruh, you have the in game editor. Just check the hidden stats of some national teams to see if there are as many top level players as we expect from them. Why are you checking a singular player at a time?
I used to do a custum db before whit a league that had a lot of quite good made up clubs from around the world. Worldbeates from countrus like nepal and Kirgizistan was not uncunnon then.
This vid has blown away a lot of "knowledge" about youth rating. No correlation between this stat and anything in your sim. Latvia's rise as a loaded league is the only insight.

Use a randomiser to determine the rating 0-200, would be interesting
So strange I'm literally doing a latvia save just now haha now it's depressing seeing that youth rating
Would be interesting to see what would happen if you were to take a few very small nations, set their youth rating to 200 and then set everyone else to 0.
0 is random in FM.
I think what matters the most is club facilities. There is a channel VazedFC he did a test on it. Also on Latvia, which is a cool coincidence.
For this video to be accurate you need to have all the important leagues loaded
That’s why I did it like this though. Latvia clearly didn’t load as much as expected. Other nations did well without the league loaded altogether

They apply to previous save too.
Great experiment! Greetings from Latvia!

I agree! Clearly doesn’t matter too much. definitely a factor
But it should have been
Serbia being runner up twice and winning once the world cup is my dream 🇷🇸❤️
And also winning Euros once
Can't belive I've never seen anyone else do this before. This should actually change how people look at youth recruitment
It’s a good experiment
Intresting vid, wouldve been intresting to look at what clubs some of the players generated from

This is awesome! Keep it up!
I have a save where bulgaria is a world super power, followed by china and belarus
Would be interesting to see how a small nation like San Marino would evolve if they had perfect facilities and HOYD (San Marinese of course) for every club.
Not sure whether it is possible to increase the population also
Dont think so. Thats the interesting part with a small nation. How big can they become in world football.
This content is unbelievable

In my save latvia is already 63 after 12 years, brazil 163, england the same
Please make 100 years Indonesia max ratings
I would love to see a similar thing like this based on Africa trying to get them to win a world cup!
Nate do you have my video schedule or something? 😂 2 weeks time expect this exact video
I will put a reminder in the calendar!😂

Finally Turkey 🇹🇷 and in reality it will never happen..

Uncommun*

Very unexpected results
In 2060 australia comes runner up in copa america, what the helll? I think u broke the game luke😅
Copa america always invite a nation like USA Mexico or Australia weirdly enough
Maybe Game Importance is also a factor.
I think clubs ratings and numbers are better from this? 🤔
Copying TomFM much…
Check out my channel mate, already done 2 of these experiments. Get your facts right
