I'm back and here too enjoy the video before bed! Glad too see another multiclass video woo! Keep the content up I love the quality and detail your group brings too table.
Glad you're enjoying! ❤️
I just want to be Tchaikovsky and use cannons in my music. Is that too much to ask?
No it is not! And I will die on that hill.
More modern music needs cannons. And more D&D games need cannons. Actually can we just add cannons to everything?
My bard is a creation bard and Artillerist... I have all the cannons!
Level 15 Artificer Armorer with Guardian setup, then 5 levels of Glamour Bard, for battle control. You can strategically move the party wherever you want, and give 8 temp hp to everyone. You get all the bonus from Artificer with the most advanced guardian armor, that can hit mobs 30 feet away by pulling them to you. Perfect for zerging. :)
You can also inverse it and take 15 levels of bard and pick up tenser transformation as a magical secret. War Caster might be important then.
I am building a Warforged Bard (Lore)/Artificer (Armorer) built for party-support and part of his backstory was that he's made up of parts from an old jukebox device that was in an old war-torn town's tavern.
Thats awesome!
I love my gnome tinkerer, bard college lore, artificer
I think, although at face value, it appears you need a high Cha and Int.
I was thinking Creation Bard 4, and Artillerist the rest of the way so I could create my own smokepowder and going Gunner feat.
With a Bardic magical instrument (uncommon) and focusing on charm person and similar spells, you put your enemy at disadvantage to the save.
So you don't really need a high int and cha just go with 14 and 14, with a max Dex.
So you can either attack with musket and eldritch cannon, or for situations where you need, Charm Person (upcast).
You can Pick locks with expertise in thieves tools.
It may be worth saying in regards to the spellcasting focus issue, that in 5e instruments are technically "tools" so I'm sure most DMs would allow you to cast your artificer spells through an enhanced guitar/lute
Definitely not something I'd fight a player on
Arti and Bard can both cast via a Instrument of illusion or any of the other instrument infusions! Pipes of sewers and haunting for example!
Soooooooooo, here is something funny that I'm planning with my brother. I'm looking to play an armorer artificer collage of swords bard variant human with the Mounted Combatant feat, and eventually shield master. My brother will be playing a moon druid hexblade gem dragonborn with the sentinel feat. The things we have planned are incredibly nutty, and the visualization is something like this.
A giant wolf spider, with spectral dragon wings flying towards you, mounted by a techno bard ironman wielding a shield and one nasty guantlet covered fist looking to punch you in the face and get a bunch of AC doing it.
Make a paranormal investigator / ghost busters character:
Infiltrator Armorer Artificer 15 / Spirits Bard 5
or
Artillerist Artificer 15 / Spirits Bard 5
But that also makes me think of mixing Phantom Rogue with Spirits Bard because you can just be DEX CHA based instead of DEX INT CHA based.
Yooo I love that rogue combo
Oh this sounds so much like the street musicians that have like a ton of different musical instruments strapped to them which work in the most wonky/wacky inventive ways. We see 1 portraid in Mary Poppins.
Exactly! But also they have a fog machine for some reason hahaha
Creation college bard and artificer synergies
great vid guys. I'm wondering if you can help me out. My 10yr old is really getting into D&D and the Netflix Tales of Arcadia Wizards. He wants to play as the wizard Douxie (hisirdoux) any suggestions? I was thinking some type of wizard/bard or wizbartificer
Thanks,
I think any wizard and lore bard would be perfect!
Keep in mind though, artifiecer can replicate the headband of intelect that sets INT to 19. Or you could the 1 that sets CON to 19 to cheat out the lack of sufficient ASIs.
We try to avoid talking about magic items to remove MAD issues because, while it's true it can help, you can't rely on your dm giving you one just to make you're weird character build work
On normal multiclasses, yes I get that. For Artifiecer however you don't have to rely on your DM because they are on your Replicate Magic item list! An Artifiecer who a bag of holding doesn't have to rely on his/her DM after all.
@@woutvanostaden1299 Great point! May need to get to a high level in artificer to get that headband though. And that would mean a lot more levels into artificer. So you'd probably want Int higher anyways. If only there was a headband of charisma
@@MonstersMulticlass If you are only dipping into Bard that shouldn't be a problem? Depending on the subclasses that you want. If for example you pick your arty subclass with extra attack and whispers bard, don't necessarily need more than 5 lvls and still get some of your higher lvls features. However if you want extra attack you may miss out on your arty cap stone feature.
Valor Bards come from the Skaldic traditions in Scandinavian myths. They go to battle, fight and record the deeds of heroes, and spread tales of their glory. So... much much more than sword performers.
Spell component problem answer: The Bardificer builds a glockenspiel with the tools and play that. Or... use the lockpicks to make a Kalimba! The wires are the keys.
I want a 'history with Bob' segment
Technically, Ruby of the War Mage is a replicable item through artificer infusions that would allow you to use any simple or martial weapon as a spellcasting focus. I don't believe this requires more than 2 levels of artificer. (I'm still watching, so I'm not sure if this comes up later.)
There's also the imbued wood focuses which are available through the artificer's replicate magic item infusion. Xorian Wenge Focus would increase the damage of vicious mockery and dissonant whispers (or any psychic spell with a damage roll), so that's an option. It also says that it can be used as a focus if you are a spell caster, so that can bypass the Bard's foci requirement and the artificer's foci requirement.
Nice! That's great info!
You had Bardificer sitting right in front of you..
And we took that easy route and said AHAA! NOT TODAY!
I think these guys are too concerned with optimization rather than roleplay and flavor, it was hard to watch and listen to "I miss out on this tiny little thing I can only use this thing by 1 less." So what? I find lots of enjoyment out of having a strength and a weakness. I play an artificer with a 14 INT and 16 WIS because he used to be some other build before he got a wish. I could have had my stats changed, but I wanted to leave it as is. Because of this, I have a bit of a challenge with a +2 to INT but it has served me very well. Also he's an alchemist and I love it to pieces so take that guy.
I generally agree that fun should triumph all. I'm not sure I remember my (Jarred) specific stance on this one but checking my notes I only had a few positive things to say.
It's not like it's the worst multiclass ever, and if you have a good flavor reason for it then I think the "negatives" are outweighed by the positives.
For what it's worth, when we're looking at the class mechanically, there's going to be discussion about the good and the bad. Depending on the day it may come across as a bigger focus on the negative.
I am glad that you've enjoyed your character! Especially with it being an alchemist. I love the concept of that class I just wish that WotC made it stronger.
Thanks for giving us a listen and hope you got some enjoyment out of it.
You know those sound guns cops sometimes use I’m imagining a bartificer blasting thunderwave and dubstep
Do we have a character sheet for this build available? I want to see how this looks on a page.
So I have a character concept that I am trying to iron out for a campaign happening in a month or so. It's primarily a bard who invents electric instruments (read: their primary weapon is going to be an electric guitar) powered by lightning magic that can use either lightning or thunder based spells and while they're at it creating the genre of heavy metal for this world.
I'm considering doing a Bardificer for the sake of having a reason for them being able to invent this fancy new device. What would be some other ways I can make this idea happen if the multiclass doesn't have much synergy?
I'll say to start that you CAN do this and I really don't think you're going to have a terrible character.
That said, nothing is stopping you from doing a pure artificer who's tool proficiencies are instruments. If your DM is cool with it then you could ask if your performance checks could be Int based. It'd really fit the theme of Heavy Metal imo. When I think of heavy metal I don't immediately think of some charismatic performer but someone who is REALLY thinking about the complexity of their music.
Artillerist could be good as your canon could be a little speaker of some sort which would be awesome imo.
Other option is armorer. You can create the genre "Heavy Metal" because you're always wearing heavy metal armor. They also get lightning gauntlets.
Other direction is a bard who has tool profs. Maybe wood carvers and tinkerers tools? I could see that combination making an electric guitar. And from there just choose a few lightning spells and when you shoot lightning through it, it amplifies the sound magically. Unless you also want to invent amps. That may be a bit too much though haha
