Bro, you nailed the comparison between the iPhone and the Sony. Just think of it as a 'premium' iPhone (Pro) and a 'standard' iPhone. The difference in functionality is minimal, but it's aimed at people who don't mind spending extra for slight upgrades.
You're right and wrong about the PS3. The Xbox 360 was there before, and it used to cost $299. The PS3 came after for $599, with a worst GPU (which is why most games had an inferior internal resolution there), and a CPU that was better on paper but... never on practice. NOBODY WAS BUYING IT. It wasn't until much later, and many price cuts, that people started to be more interested on that console. People weren't okay with the high price on the PS3 at all, so I don't get why people compare the PS5 Pro with it when the 360 was a better product at a cheaper price.
Yes, I remember the red ring of death, but you know what? We got extended warranty and free repairs for that from Microsoft, without having to pay for ANYTHING, not even shipping. For the Yellow Light of Death, Sony did not offer a repair policy as extensive as Microsoft's for the Xbox 360. Instead of extending the warranty, Sony handled YLOD cases according to its standard warranty policy. If the console was within the warranty period (one year in most countries), Sony would repair or replace the console for free. If the warranty had expired, users had to pay for the repair, which typically cost around $150 at the time, or buy a new console. Yeah... it wasn't great.

I can buy 2 every month without digging into savings. I am still not going to spend my money on such a POS lmao. no discdrive and especially "stand is not included" was just insulting. like I got spat right in my face. I *might've* considered it if it wasn't for those 2 points. havent even touched upon the lack of new showcases or even a new lick of paint on the damn box.

@@cyborgchimpy Most people play games digitally, and those who buy PCs and Xbox Series S do just fine without a Disc Drive. The stand is optional and is not needed, it is simply for aesthetics. The PS5 Pro stands both ways without it.
But that is beside the point. You should not be trying to buy a Pro for those reasons you mentioned anyway. It's for the far faster GPU and new RDNA features and most importantly PSSR.

You need tp grow up and learn about how technology works and how pssr is already a contender with dlss. Its already out performing fsr which amd has had for a couple years now. Image quality is what we are after. If AW2 looks like native 4k running an internal res of 800 then that is the magic they are selling. Not to mention the strides in rt performance. The fact of the matter is, gpu prices are insane, MS charges $600 for an extra terabyte of storage, and sony is introducing new tech. The entire industry is overpriced right now.
yes everything is overpriced but there are far better options than dropping this kinda money on a console that practically performs just as the same as a regular PS5. if image quality is what you’re after and its being able to see a characters pores on their face then be my guest!
