Black is beautiful - Luiz Antonio - Sunset 1986

Luiz Antonio Band performing the song BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL (Marcos Valle & Paulo Sérgio Valle), first recorded by Elis Regina. Luiz Antonio, who left us too soon a few years ago, is one of the best Brazilian singers ever, with a unique voice, he was half of the duo Les Étoiles. This recording was made between the 11th ad the 16th May 1986, at prestigious Le Sunset Jazz Club in Paris that was overcrowded, with people sitting on the floor way too close, with the musicians having to fight with the audience for some more centimeters of space to perform their instruments. The line up was: Luiz Antonio: vocals, Kzam Gama: bass, Marcelo Paganini: guitar, Ledir Soares: keyboards, Fréderic (Freddy) Sicart: drums. The vhs video was with very poor recording quality and a lot of effort was put into trying to make it somewhat better. A thousand thanks to Annie and Isabel Ribeiro for sharing this video with me 23 years after this historical gigs for the Brazilian Black Music... One of the best shows in my life, I am so lucky to have played with those incredible artists....
