    The community argument is SO real! I just had a conversation with a family member and I asked this very question of "who does your husband have in his circle who can help him expand his ideas about marriage...with whom he can be vulnerable, transparent, and honest?"...she replied as I had thought..."no one I can think of". So this man has no one in his life who can challenge him on how he shows up for himself and his family. He's only relying on his own wisdom or lack thereof! She's considering divorce after 20+ years...mostly because of this issue. The man can't change if he lives in an echo chamber of his own disfunction. Lord have mercy!

    And where are the books for the Power of Praying Husband??? Can we as a community stop leaving the weight of EVERYTHING in the home spiritually and naturally on the wife and mom? And stop excusing it! The pride and stubbornness of men is 100% leading to the crumbling of our society. This woman putting up with this for a decade is insane.
    *
    P.s sorry, i felt like i was ranting but there is a huge weight imbalance in homes that is soo troubling to me and continues to grow ok the shoulders of women to carry *

      There’s definitely an imbalance, and that’s aside from just those in single-parent homes. It’s extended across the board, even for working, stay-at-home, or retired fathers. Their presence needs to be felt more in the home setting. It's implied by many to be a woman's position because women are the nurturing parental figures; therefore, a lot of childrearing falls on the mother as the fathers grow content with their comfortable role of protecting and providing. I applaud dads on a regular basis who take the opportunity to spend real quality time with their kids, instilling a sense of belonging, safety, and open communication, verbal and/or nonverbal. Building this trust with both parents is a vital component of a healthy family unit. Thanks for sharing.

    I stopped trusting folks because somebody started taking everything I said and making jokes to other people. Never to me, just when other people were around. So that led me to believe they weren't just jokes. I was "trust first" and now I'm "maybe trust one day if they prove trustworthy." I want community but feel I can't trust people anymore. I had finally started trusting folks, and then that happened. Sent me way back into my shell.

    17:43 Unfortunately, it’s more common than not for married women to attend church without their husbands. It blows my mind. Of course, there are exceptions…
    I only learned about some of the marriages in my church AFTER I got married. 😅And it’s my home church… I literally grew up here and I’m like, you’re married?

    I think also we dont talk about leaving someone bc they aren’t right for us…meaning that they emotionally…mentally..abuse us..we always say physical abuse or verbal abuse but putting someone in a place where they are constantly emotionally unsafe..mentally unsafe and they constantly put you in a fight or flight state where you nervous system is always high is also abuse…bc that over time can kill and deteriorate your body and brain…

    "can we fault a man for but growing?" I think is a great question, that we're always asking, especially in situations like these, but rarely explicitly.
    Encapsulated another way, like focusing on, "you knew who he was when you married him," previously would have received an answer of no, it's not his fault he didn't change.
    However, I think God would say he is at fault for not growing. He's given us all some gift or TALENT that we should be capitalizing on, or using to serve people. This man's gift could be being an amazing homemaker with a great personality, that allows his wife to focus, and receive multiple promotions at her job. Maybe he becomes a content creator, or runs the community homeschool. Maybe his gift doesn't actively bring money into the home, yet somehow causes it to thrive, we don't know. That's his fault for not growing into whatever man he was born to be.
    Now, she is still at fault, because of that initial statement, "you knew who he was when you married him." She either knew this was who he was, and hoped for no reason that he would change, or she didn't know him, and married a man she didn't know. She didn't see him searching, learning, growing himself, which would have brought forth some type of fruit, even if it wasn't the best job, or the most money yet.
    Was he actively seeking ways to do the same for her, planting seeds within her, finding better ways to communicate, to serve, to show appreciation, was his life aspirational to her at all?
    She may not have even understood what marriage was and what she would need to be, and what she would need from him before she decided to marry him. Again, her fault.
    All of this is solved by putting God first asking Him where to be, and who to be there with. Their triangle analogy was great, and having in depth discussions or understanding of that concept is foundational to what a solid marriage could be.

      I love this straightforward male perspective. Thank you for your generous contribution. I can agree, and in some areas, I can raise the degree. Both husband and wife should grow likewise. #Evolve His spiritual state, or lack thereof, may be a result of his current condition and situation. Which is why she desires him to increase his walk of faith. She understands the importance of being equally yoked, seeking first the kingdom of God, loving his wife as himself, and that they are truly each other’s saving grace. I think she simply wants the best for their family; nothing less.
      ✝️Supporting Scripture(s):
      2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
      Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
      Ephesians 5:25-33 (Emphasis 25, 28 & 33)
      25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
      26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
      27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
      28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
      29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
      30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
      31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
      32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
      33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
      1 Corinthians 7:16 How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

    I think the bible is pretty clear about this:
    1 Corinthians 7
    13And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. 15But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace. 16How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

    My husband: he's probably depressed

    That's likely true because of their situation and without community to recognize and call it out they're not seeing it. It's hard to recognize depression while you're in it or super close to those who are.
