12:22 The white water rafting level in the JP Genesis game was based on a chapter from the Michael Crichton novel that wasn't used in the movie. So gamers got a "deleted scene" that moviegoers didn't.

I think it made all the sense in the world to change and add content to arcade games. The home market was different and expected more for the $50+ games cost. Many of these were perfect in that context.

I played Jurassic Park at Chuck E. Cheese to, but my first experience with it was actually at a Bullwinkle's Family Fun Center (now called Boomers where I'm at). I also played many other awesome Sega cabinets at both those places like Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, Brave Firefighters, The Lost World Jurassic Park among a few others I can't remember the name to. I love Sega's arcade games and the 90's was such a great time to be playing any cabinet from nearly any manufacturer (Sega, Midway and Konami especially). I just wish all those aforementioned titles could've been ported to something at home so I could play them today. I guess as long as I've got Virtua Cop, House of the Dead and Sega Marine Fishing them I'm alright. :P

@@SegaLordX - And yet we didn't even get a polygonal Golden Axe until Xbox 360/PS3, which basically killed off the franchise. Also, it was my understanding, the pro-polygons/anti-2D was an SoA thing. SEGA of Japan didn't seem to mind allowing, porting & producing games w/2D graphics for their home market of Japan, & yet we didn't even get an SoJ Golden Axe II : Revenge of Death Adder port. Heck! I've played a good chunk of these in various arcades but I never knew the name of Enduraracer until now. A Chuck E Cheese place had a setup of 8 consoles linked and there was always a line. The levels were unique and massive with some wild obstacles. The cool thing was that your bike had a gun. You could tag other bikes and destroy obstacles. The crashes were spectacular. Fall in lava? Explosion! Hit a rock? Flip over the handlebars. There was always two or three rocks in a level that flashed and when shot would give you a massive boost. If you get your jump right on a lap you could knock off the banner and get an extra ten seconds. It was a hell of a good time.

I know this is a ludicrous request, but I wish there was a definitive list of ALL arcade beatem ups that were made. I've been searching periodically for years for a game I used to play as kid around 1990. The only distinguishing thing I can remember is there were multiple weapons like swords and pipes that could be picked up and here is the key. One of them was a small round ax that sucked if you got it because it had terrible hit range. It has to be a clone of Final Fight, but I just can't find it.

As a Person that grew up with a C64, Super Nintendo and PC, my first real contact with Mega Drive (Genesis) Games was with the Mega Drive Classics Collection on the Switch.
From all the Sega Games on that, Virtua Fighting 2 was one of the better ones.
In my Opinion, Sonic isn't really a good Figuerhead for the Mega Drive, but Streets of Rage and Phantasy Star are!
I've spend most of my Time on the Switch with these Lines of Games!
If you never had a Mega Drive, get those Games: Streets of Rage 1 & 2, Phantasy Star 4, Rolling Thunder 2, Turtles Hyper Stone Heist, Golden Axe 2, Shinobi 3, Monster World 4, Alisia dragoon, Castlevania Bloodlines/new Generation, Light Crusader.
You will not regret those Games!

I would also say that Shadow Dancer is better on the Genesis. I found the arcade version to have a few issues with mechanics and level design. For example, the dog works way better on the Genesis. It was nice that they did a home game that used the template of the arcade games with the one-hit deaths as a complement to Revenge of Shinobi and Shinobi 3 which came later. It would be cool to see the arcade versions officially released someday for those who prefer those.

Just played through shadow dancer completely in the Sega Genesis Steam collection today. So I still think it's better than the arcade, but I found the variety wasn't enough as this was the first time I finished it, and I would have liked more weapons. I also didn't see the point of the different magic since they all took 2 points off the boss health. Good game, but shinobi 3 has tighter controls. I moved on to that one to play it through and have saved it at level 5 right now. Need a break lol.

Great video, Sega Lord X! Man, how cool was that Jurassic Park arcade game? I remember playing it as a kid and being so amazed. It was a great time to be a kid. Do you think that the Saturn could have handled a port of it? It would have sold like hot cakes.

The saturn can handle any game made for the sega system boards but in the case of some titles they might need to use the ram carts to get all animations in.

If Sega put a strong team on it, the Saturn should have been able to do it easily.

The samething with The Simpons and Marvel X-Men which they both had the same play style, but never at home.

I had a bootleg version of VF2 on the Mega Drive at one point (gave it to a friend eventually) and it wasn't great, very slow and actually a bit clunky.
Moonwalker is a product that really could have only come out in 1990 . The idea of putting a celebrity in a fast action game would never get approved today (I can just imagine a Lady Gaga FPS)

@TrueSinister Now that you mention it , I did see one on the PS2 . That said, at least in that instance it meshes with the character he is pushing as a celebrity.

MJ's celebrity in the 80's and early 90's was unlike anything I have ever seen. He pretty much could do any form of media and the public would accept it. I think a modern celebrity would be hard pressed to do the same.

@@SegaLordX I don't remember the 80s (was still in nappies)but I do remember him in the early 90s, and yes, it was quite silly how popular he was. Its funny too because while Sega did other celebrity games with athletes, at least those games were related to what that athlete did in real life.

Pretty sure you could put The Rock into anything and it would work, lol

Disappointed when Shadow Dancer was not the Arcade version on the Megadrive because that was the Arcade in the home console
