A little tip, I work at Safeway and my Floral Manager always tells us to start with greens when making arrangements in foam. Make sure you get most of the foam covered with greens first then add your flowers. Add more greens or other fillers as needed to fill any gaps and finish the look. When you add greens last it’s harder to push them in the foam with all your flowers in the way then you might risk snapping or moving flowers out of the foam if you’re too rough. Also, be careful of where you place your flowers because once you’ve poked the foam you cannot take it out and place the flower back in the same hole! It will not hold the flower and the foam will get weaker or start to crumble. Happy arranging!
Wonderful advice. Thank you so much!
I would assume you put the filler or flowers in last depending on which is dominante in the arrangement. If you have an arrangement with 75% flowers in a specific pattern it would be easier to put the filler in last. Just logically speaking. I haven't done it professionally so just a guess.
I always always read comments for more tips and tricks! Thank you!
Idk I feel like if I did the greenery and/or fillers first I would have to continue to move or rearrange depending on where I wanted them, or you could put to many or not enough. I would deff do big flowers first and then go in with my fillers and greenery, it would be easier to figure out where they would look best tbh. Going in backwards would mess me up and take more time😂
As a professional designer for over 50 years, soak your foam in the sink first before putting it in your container. If you just pour the water over the top you will get air pockets and the flowers will not be able to drink up water. Let the brick of oasis or foam fill from the bottom up by just letting it sit in the water till it sinks down without pushing it under the water. Some bricks of foam already come with flower food in them. So check that also.
That's also what I know.
Helen Daly correct! The way she pour the water on the foam isnt correct! 😫
Helen Daly, so true. Gotta soak that foam.
in my experience you never want to cut the rose petals off you just gently pull them off from the base of the pedal and also I was taught that you're supposed to leave the leaves that are closest to the actual head of the rose on because sometimes it's good for extra filler or die mean you can take them off once you know that you don'tfor sure want them or need them
This is so cool! I never knew they poured water onto the foam. Your flower arrangement is absolutely gorgeous! I'm thinking you must be a professional arranger. Wow! Thank you for sharing these tips with us. Oh, and thanks for including your dog in the video. She is so cute! This video just blessed my heart! I'm subscribing!
I’ve watched lots of how to make an arrangement videos and yours is by far the best I’ve seen. Super natural and fun and your arrangements look beautiful and full. Your positioning of flowers was very professional and just like a floral designer would do. Hats of to you and I look forward to seeing more videos!

Great video! Love your gorgeous arrangements!! I often purchase faux plants to decorate my house on La Rose Flower. Now I can try my different colored arrangements!
Places like Goodwill or any Thrift stores, Yard/Garage Sales usually have Vases, Pitchers or Old Pots that can be used for Arrangements. I love Rustic and Cottage styles. Nice Informative Video.
Beautiful arrangement! Thank you for sharing!! I'm sure your Dad and everyone love it!
Your Welcome!
These red tipped roses are beautiful. I love arranging my bouquets myself. Very relaxing. I plan on doing my own wedding arrangements.
Gorgeous arrangement!
Added tips: If you carefully use a switchblade instead to cut the rose stem at a very long angle, then the stem won’t close up (as it tends to do if cut w/ a scissors). Avoid ever touching the head of the rose. Use a thorn stripper to remove rose thorns. Hydrangeas require tons of water. White hydrangeas don’t last as long as antique hydrangeas. If you ever use tulips, hyacinth or amaryllis in a vase of water, place them in only two inches of fresh water. To prevent tulip stems from growing (even after they’re cut), cover the tulip heads in newspaper and place in the frig before you’re going to use them. If you use a wooden vase, line it first with cellophane before adding soaked Oasis foam.
Use a butcher knife to cut the soaked foam to fit slices of foam snugly into the edges of a container. Many flower shops place a vase on a Lazy Susan to easily turn it as they’re arranging. They also use a large paper cutter to chop off many stems at once at the very ends before they later slice each stem using a switchblade.
Great job! Please keep the videos coming! Love them!

The arrangement is gorgeous and I appreciate you sharing this with us. I love your videos and unlike some other people, am very thankful that you take your very valuable time to go through all the work it takes to get ready to film the videos, then edit them and then post them. Please know that there are a lot of people out here in vlog land that enjoy what you are doing and really do appreciate you. I hope your Dad had a wonderful 90th birthday!!!

Wow, that is a beautiful flower centerpiece!
I absolutely did not know those foam blocks were used for real flowers! I thought foam blocks were strictly for fake flowers! You taught me something today. Thank you! 😊🌼
So gorgeous, I was looking for a tutorial on how to use a container other than your average flower vase and this was perfect!
Well, yeah!!!! I'm happy that worked out!!

Thanks!
Oh I love this tutorial. Very beautiful..
Glad it was helpful!!
I prefer using old containers...Especially utilizing old buckets or pots in the garden. Most of the time the flowers or pants hide the cracks or broken spots, so it seems ashame to throw away some broken pots. I use my old broken gnomes to grow daffodils in.
me encanta ver como hacen los arreglos, son sencillos pero muy bonitos y con flores que hay en mi pais Chile, me gusta mucho los felicito por darme la posibilidad de ver como hacen estas cosas tan lindas. gracias

Did you cut the Alstromeria shorter than the white roses, or the same length? Thank you for this wonderful video.
I adorable your videos! I just wish they were longer!💗
The roses last longer if you cut them underwater. What I mean by this is that you hold the end of the stem underwater (in some sort of vessel) and cut it under the water. This keeps the pores (or I guess you could call them tubes as a better example for small children) that suck up water from closing up as fast as they would if you cut them how Jennifer did, and it makes the roses able to suck up more water and last longer. Remember to still cut them at an angle and be sure to strip the thorns off if this hasn't already been done before purchase!
Also, hydrangeas do not do well in flower food, so maybe hydrangeas are not a great idea if you want a long lasting arrangement. However, if the arrangement if for an event (such as a wedding) feel free to put them in food if you do not mind them starting to wilt sooner than the rest of the flowers.

What a beautiful arrangement. As You were placing your flowers ( you didn't explain where exactly to put the white roses I saw front of vase only so couldn't see where white Rose's were placed in the back and sides. Sorry I'm just too big of a beginner. You certainly made one hell of an arrangement!

I love that rose !! I thought you are suppose to soak your foam in water with floral food before you place the foam in your vase ?
Loved this.❤️🌹
Thank you so much!

Madelyn Trujillo thank you sweet friend!
I love your videos. Your very inspirational and talented. Thank you!!!
Hello there, and thank you so much!!! Have a wonderful holiday!
love, love the video. thank you
Hey I have a friend named Jennifer, that's pretty neat.
It's a good name I think:)
That was a very beautiful arrangment. I love the step by step demonstration. However, for better results I have to agree with the other florists about 1. Soak your Oasis 2.Pluck the petals with hand ( sometimes you have more than one and a scissors won't be able to get the job done effectively). Another addition would be to cut the stems slant for and not horizontal. Yet again very lovely arrangement!
Thank you Chenelle! I have learned a lot from everyone sharing their professional advice with me! Now, I soak the Oasis! Thanks for your advice and kind words!
Beautiful😌😌😌😌
Gracias por su tutorial
I love it...
Good work supeb
Love this tutorial... :3
Glad you like it!
thank you for this tutorial!
At first I was thinking the same thing just like some of u guys ...... about letting the foam soak first in water ....then I tought of festival it's an arrangement in a big vase for family member second pouring the water on it , is just a double shots for the flowers they getting more water since it's not gonna go to a church or a wedding and I said it shouldn't be a problem !!!!!! Professionally speaking u guys got a point ....but if u really want to keep the florwer for a longer time adding more water would be great !!!!! That is my opinion ...!!!????
When I looked at the way the arrangements made while using foams it's just that when u shipping there won't be any water leaking .... Center piece for a wedding or hand bouguet ;but to my understanding if the flowers not gonna be shipping or delivered ....it's ok to add as much as water to keep them really hidrate and fresher !!!!!
That is my opinion .....in a Gardner ways and according to agriculture .....the more water the fresher !!!!!
can the wet foam be reused
Awww, thank you to your dad for his service
U look like a remarkable Princess in Great Britain. I was shocked when I first see your vid. 😉
very nice arrangement. (:
loved it
Wow
This will help me in my topic
This is absolutely beautiful. I never realized that so many of the leaves are taken off just that you wanted to be careful about letting the leaves get in the water. They rot and make the arrangement go bad quickly
Wow hermoso cada vez me enamoro mas de tu canal espectacular te quedo😍😍😍😍😘😘
i like that 😍
good job love Molly a lot's
Very helpful demonstration, thank you. btw, that Molly is a scamp!
