For those of you guys that are down, broke and starving.... Go to 7-11 after midnight as there's a good chance they have "expired at midnight" sandwiches. We have to dispose of them as we can't sell them. Although my employees are not supposed give things away the majority of expired foods end up being given away to kids that come in or homeless.

WezleyB Uh, yeah IF you're talking about a small business. However, you seem to have missed the part entirely where this was a big enough restaurant/bar chain that they allowed her to transfer between states and had a corporate structure. NO EXCUSES for them not paying on time nor fast tracking it because that's a huge labor violation and most likely as she mentioned it was in California it was a union shop. She was entitled to all her pay PLUS damages, I think?

Ahle, I'm so proud of you and grateful that you shared this story. I can tell it wasn't easy. I can feel that sadness and frustration in your voice as you speak about this and I know that it took a lot for you to put this out here. You absolutely made the best of that situation and although you were young and "didn't know what you were doing", you owned that experience not only in how you handled it by how you chose to feel about it during, and what you're now taking away from it, not to mention that you're inspiring hundreds of other humans by sharing this. I feel like now I have so much control in knowing how you handled this and feel like I have so much power. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing. You inspire me more than you know. And one day I could see you delivering Ted talks and having some super successful low key business doing what you enjoy. You're amazing. Keep being you girl. I'll keep watching.

You are a rare and beautiful flower. It's almost unbelievable.
I might be mistaken but from what I can see in a few of your videos that I've watched, you are a pretty and young girl with an incredibly mature and positive mindset.
When I try to think about how it would have been possible that someone in your shoes and life experience could have the qualities that you seem to have, which pretty much directly equates to a real-life "diamond in the rough" type of trope, I can only assume that it's your innate intelligence combined with some crucial mental foundations given to you in your very early years of life, and an environment that followed where you basically had to sink or swim.
If I ever have a daughter, I wish that she would grow up to be as beautiful, intelligent, and mature as you are. You are the type of person who goes on to become a self-made millionaire, if that's where your interests are. Good job keeping it all together through tough times and having the best mindset and attitude you could have, while not falling into the numerous dark underground pits that people in those situations could have easily fallen into. And most of all, good job taking full responsibility for yourself, your life and your surroundings, at such a young age, without blaming the outside world such as your family, society, or country. So many in your age, who have been given much more than you in life, like to complain about and blame everything surrounding them, and end up sabotaging their own potential to overcome and grow. Your fundamental difference with them is what gives me confidence that you will most certainly be successful at whatever it is you want to achieve in life.

Just randomly saw the title of your video and decided to check it out. I must say you are very open and seem very genuine. I think you have accomplished what most people don't even have to encounter in a lifetime. You also made it through situations where up to 90% of people would have caved in in some way. Maybe started doing drugs, drinking, prostitution or maybe all. Some would even committed suicide. You definitely are a survivor and have survival skills. I think most people will take something positive away from your story. Of course there will always be some idiot who will shoot you down or have all the answers of what they would have done but that's life. Anyways Just wondering , how has your life changed at this point? I mean Are you still continuing school and is there something you're definitely interested in as a career? I know you will do well at whatever you do because you have a strong flame inside you. I can see you becoming a leader of some sort. You are not a follower by any means. I mean you are probably too nice sometimes for your own good and humble. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having those traits but please don't be a doormat for anyone. Respect is earned, trust is gained. Not by fear but by virtue. I wish you well in your journeys! Don't stop being beautiful inside and out. It's a rarity these days and god knows we need more people out there with integrity. Take Care :)

      @HylianCucco 6 лет назад

That's better than most people, especially when they're still in school. I think 2 month of savings is still way too low though, it's probably recommended by people because no one can save anyway, so it's better than nothing. I go with 5 months, because I was out of work for 5 months in 2008 after the crash.

Hobo Ahle : You know there is a church on Parthenia and Sepulveda that gives out free food every Wednesday if you sit through a 1 hour of Preaching session, and its every week, you dont have to convert, you dont have to even say anything you go sit, listen bring bags or a market cart and get your grub, and the food is not expired or gross, it's just excess food that local markets donate to churches. So if you find yourself in this situation again I'd suggest looking into food banks, and church food bank, also there is food stamps and GR. Just suggestions from a fellow ex-homeless person.

Maybe it was your pride, maybe your parents weren't in a good financial situation at the time to help, but whatever the case may be, the fact that you stuck it out and solved your problem on your own really added to your strength.
Knowing what is truly a need is an invaluable life skill, and it is the reason why I keep coming back to your channel. Its happened multipule times to me where i looked at theres 55 cents and thats it. Most stressful thing in the world is knowing you have less than a dollar and no paycheck coming

I've been an administrative assistant in the past and they can most definitely write a check right then and there. If they use a payroll service, there are steps on the payroll website to create a "manual check" for that kind of situation. That's completely outrageous and then they robbed you of two weeks of work on top of it! Pretty sure it's illegal, esp in California.

Hi, this is one of my favorite videos from you, I've been on the same situation such as yours for the most awkward reasons, and I know how it feels, I remember I had to stretch one bar of bread and one gallon of apple juice for food for a full week in one appartment I just moved in (in California of course) with no furniture whatsoever, sleeping in the carpet, no electricity and no running water, is so strange how miserable you can feel for not having those "basic things"
But hey those experiences make you so strong and thankful for what you have but also (and very important) humble to other people you encounter in your life.
I know you know blessings don't come falling from the sky if you don't really work for it, but still I say "blessings to you" :)
    Thank you for your uploads

You are such a wonderful, strong person. Sweetie, you deserved to get angry and should have been angry after the 1st missed check, definitely the 2nd missed check. We all want to be nice, but there are two extremes: Too nice & too aggressive. There is a middle ground which is to be assertive. Too nice means you are afraid to inconvenience or bother others, you want to be polite. Others see that and unfortunatly other people will take advantage and leave you w nothing. Too aggressive means you dont care about inconveniencing or bothering others, you want it now. Being *assertive* means that you realize your self worth, that your time is worth something and you deserve to be compensated in a timely matter, and mostly you deserve to have your needs and wants taken care of, so you assertively let others know your want/need in a friendly but direct way. You almost dont ask per se, but rather say, "I need you to do [ request].". You are worth it. Dont be afraid that someone might think you werent being nice or polite, ask and demand whats rightfully yours.Google "How to be Assertive", life changer. Its illegal for any company to withhold your paycheck for any reason, and they KNOW that it is, but if theres someone asking politely, and when they say No and you let it go, they know they can take advantage of you, AND they earn interest on YOUR money while it sits in the bank. Ask assertively, if they say no and its unreasonable, dont be afraid to push further. Dont be afraid to tell them its illegal. If they still dont, escalate up higher. If you dont get paid on one paycheck, they are *required* to add it to your next. I do. For example, "I have not recieved a paycheck for my February hours before I moved, I need you to add that to my next paycheck. Will it be added to my next paycheck? No, I dont want a maybe, I want a firm yes and im holding you accountable. Call over to their payroll and start the process right now while im here. Also I need a contact for payroll at the other officeas well to hold them accountable. If this isnt resolved, I will escalate higher. Its illegal to withhold payment for hours worked and you will be held accountable." Its semi-friendly and professional, but direct and assertive. People wont walk all over you. Learning to be assertive is a Life changer and will stop you from being walked on and taken advantage of, and instead you will take the reigns of your own life and power through. Best wishes!! (Like if you agree)

First of all, nice as the guy was, he took cds from his work--tbeft--, and second, he violated copyright laws by copying someone's intellectual property. The prof should have explained that to the class. So many people think it's ok to copy music, books, etc. But those same people wouldn't be happy if it was their work and lost royalties.

girl you do not sound entitled or like you looking down on anyone. i lost my momma 3years ago and my dad hasnt been in the picture for over 10 years. here in portugal when you are under 25, still in school and lost a parent you are entitled to a portion of their retirement money per month. because my brother was underage at the time and the court literally only gave me his custody a month before he turned 18, the government saw that as an excuse. he didnt have a legal guardian there was no one to give the money to. but i was 18 at the time and they said because my little brother wasnt getting anything it would be unfair for me to receive my part. it sounds ridiculous cause that meant that we didnt get any money for at least 3 years. and if i had been working we would lose the right to that money because we were capable of sustaining ourselves and so they wouldnt need to pay us the money they owed us. i was lucky to an extent. my mom had left us some savings we were able to pay the bills for 2 years and some months. i sold my moms car and that gave us a few more months of groceries and paid bills. the saving was to the max, we couldnt spend money on anything besides essentials. all the while i was trying to unlock this money that the government owed us. i would go to the place, i went to court i did everything i supposed to do. 3 years later i finally got my money, all that they owed, this means i now have savings and that we get our monthly check. but its barely anything. we have taxes that belong to 2 court cases that i have to deal with instead of my mom cause she's dead. we are about to lose our house because of those court cases, and we dont even fill the requirements to apply to get help renting a house because rents are way up and we dont even earn monthly 60% to cover the rent.... 60%... not to talk we would still have bills, insurance, groceries to buy and all the rest. im stressed i dont know what to do. there are no programes to help us. we dont earn shit and if i start working we'll lose the right to what we are getting now. plus part-times here dont pay much so i would have to pause university for an unknown amount of time. im really in a turning point in my life right now and i feel your story very deeply. thank you for sharing.

Youth and life experience can definitely land one in tough circumstances as I recall it did for me, even though I don't live in your cutthroat-capitalist country (unless you're a big bank or military contractor who is given trillions for nothing).
Most people would become somewhat hardened, as you seem to have, and cynical, which you've managed to avoid (I became both, to an extreme).
I value that you are so introspective, highly intelligent, and simultaneously expressive, and that's much of what I seek on your channel (I typically only listen to you rather than watch due to the distraction) but would love to see/hear you do more vids on technology, such as how to set up a bitcoin wallet and take direct donations ;)
I have some on my phone I could send in seconds, but you'd need to figure out how to turn it into cash, or spend directly, though of course these days I'm sure you're doing okay due to income from your hard work on RUclips (I'd hope at least 1k/month minimum).
Anyway, just a thought. It might help others if they knew how easy it is to receive money outside of the archaic banking system using crypto, and you're in the generation where it's inevitable you eventually use it for everything so might as well get started. That, and the fact that some of your audience are prime candidates for using this tech yet may lack information on how to start. So much fun watching intelligent people problem solve. Just think of the hits you'd get as well!

I train new people at my job and there was this one time we were on our break and I was grabbing myself food and he didn’t, and I asked if he wanted anything and he broke down and said “would you buy me like the cheapest thing on the menu? Anything? I’ve been eating one thing a day because I just ran out of money.” It’s incredible how ungrateful I’ve been for having a stable job and a steady income. I bought him food everyday I worked with him, and I hope there’s people out there who use their money to help others because sometimes a dollar is literally someone’s whole life
