My parents used to bead and tried teaching me when I was younger. I thought it was so stupid and I hated being Indigenous but, now I wish I had listened them and learned how to.. now I'm in my 20's trying to relearn my culture, so thank you so much for uploading this ❤
it's been difficult for me to find someone to teach me this beading technique, since i live off rez away from elders and the side of my family that's traditional. i've always wanted to learn though, so i thank you for finally allowing me to connect with that part of myself and my people. the ancestors are smiling at me!
Miigwetch. Today I start my BEADING journey, and yours was the first video that made it seem accessible. 52 years on Mother Earth, and I am learning. Have an awesome day!
I'm new to the beading scene. I have health issues and I'm at home and in the house most of the time. One of the lessons I learned from an elder is to make sure you are good at one thing, so you can earn money if you need to, so that's what I am trying to do. Your videos are very helpful while learning. Thank you so much for helping me.
My grandfather who taught me passed away when I was younger and we live far away from my tribe so I had lost parts of what to do, thank you so much for making it possible for me to reconnect this way away again 💖 I can't express how much it means to me
I am so happy I am able to learn this technique! My great grandmother used to bead all her own regalia, but never taught the family how to do it. Now, I am able to keep this art alive in my family and possibly share it with my children. Wado!!
Once again, super glad I came across this I've went by a few that either seemed to not really care about their beading techniques or they pinned it down every six beads. I love tight beads and no one likes loose beadwork! Keep up the good work! 💗
I didn't know there was a one needle way to flat stitch until a couple years ago. I have not seen it done until your video. I was taught with the 2 needle stitch and it's the only way that makes sense to me. But for those that prefer one stitch, good for you! You have talent!! I couldn't do that stitch if I tried. Thank you for this video. :D
Thank you sister😊👋👋I am so Happy,There is so much I want to learn about our Native culture. We are having a Native ceremony renewal of vows of 26 years,We at attempting to make all our Regalia as traditional as possible. This video is so well taught, and exciting fo us Thank you,Many Blessings🙏❤️🦋
Sister you have really helped me! I'm a monster when it comes to peyote stitch and looming, but appliqué has always intimidated me. You gave me beading courage. Thank you.
I have been dreaming of a video exactly like this! You an answer to prayer; I am so thankful to have you sit and just hang out beading.....I am cleaning up my (very spread out) beading area as I listen and watch your inspiring videos! Gunalcheesh! Ho ho!
I’m learning how to bead, watching your instructions it’s like I’m there in person with how clear you are! Thank you so much, I live states away from my relatives so it difficult connecting with them. Even though I’m not learning exactly the traditional way, this will help me with making regalia for my niece and nephews in hopes maybe one day teach them! Thank you Auntie!💕
I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge in a way that gave me the confidence to finally try the 2 needle flat stitch. It seems like forever that I've said I was going to learn, but I kept putting it off. I'm just beginning and am finding straight lines difficult, and am still trying to figure out the tension tricks, but I can see a huge improvement in my stitches that are curved.
/Beautiful Miss Lady. I appreciate you sharing your methods of two needle. I tried before and produced a big knot in the end. Very frustrating. However, you taught me something new. Thank you so much from New Mexico.
i like tacking the front of the thread that’s holding the beads, because then i don’t have to hold it the whole time, and then i can just bead forward and make adjustments as i’m going (if my design has a curve), and it makes the process go by faster. plus every other pair of beads you do, you can give your beading thread a tug to keep the tension tight
Hello, first thank you for making these videos and showing us how to do this technique. I'm the opposite of you on the 1 needle vs 2 needle. I have tried the 2 needle and feel like I just don't have control. Thank you for showing both methods. Maybe if I do 2 needle more I will get used to it. Would love to see more videos from you showing different patterns and how to do them. I just stumbled across your page. I'm super excited. This is what I have been looking for. Thank you again for taking the time to make the videos. I too shop at Hobby Lobby. Love when they have the 1/2 price bead sales!
Thankyou for showing this. I've been beading blind kind if not really knowing to much I'm on the right track. .. I need to get the.." felt " you spoke about
Thankyou! this was a great demonstration. I was practicing my african beading yesterday and did it using the 1 nneedle, but the 2 need seems to work better. thankyou!
We have this beading club in my school and the way they tought me wasn't comfortable and didn't know any other ways but this really helped me I tried this and its comfortable! Thanksss
Thank you for this! I've always done 1 needle but now that I'm moving away from pendants and into earrings and such I felt like I needed something that could look a little more finished, I think 2 needle might be what I'm looking for!
I have a tip for you. Try drawing your design on the felt with a flexion pen. It is removed with either heat from a low iron or water. I use it for quilting and embroidery it’s amazing. Then you wouldn’t have to sew through paper which is really hard on your needles and thread.
Do you have a video on edge beading? I learned so much from you and I have finished products but I don't know how to do edge beading. Thanks for sharing and explaining! I'm half Navajo and far from home, beading makes me feel closer to home.
Nyeh weh for the tips I've never done the 1 needle stitch like that I'm sure it would come in handy for some things tho. I am just getting back into beading again I was wondering if my thread was too thick for tacking down it is size D but I wasn't sure if a single thread would be strong enough. Good tips ! 💜🐻
Just starting to play around with beading. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Is that freezer paper you used on top to draw your design. Can't wait to try the two needle method. Not able to get the one needle method to look nice. New to your channel and look forward to watching many more great videos of yours.
ya right Hi! Yes it would be easier to glue but these are made for regalia and go through a lot of wear and tear, hence the tacking down. It makes the beadwork very strong and can withstand the dancer and all the dancing.
Hi I have a question. my aunt and cousins are Mohawk and I was wondering if it would be okay to learn how to bead like this to make them presents? since it is traditional to indigenous peoples I don't want to over step into things that would not be appropriate for me to do. Your insite into this will be greatly appreciated. Also you do amazing work.

My great-grandmother taught me how to bead.. but it wasn't earrings we beaded. It was moccasin vamps and this is the same concept - but instead of glue, she would sew the paper all around the design. So how much a pair of earrings can be sold for with the time it takes making them? I love this technique but I wonder if you can sell them and make really money on them by the time put on them. I start making a pair for myself😁

How do you keep your paper pattern to stay lined up correctly on your backing? It seems like it would be hard to keep it from shifting out of place. I am going to try it but am a bit concerned about that. Thank you.
Aura Wright I dab some glue around the outer edges, just a few dabs in key places. Let it dry then once you get some beads down it keeps in place.
