    I highly appreciate the works and efforts of Pathisa Nyathi. Great preservation of history of a nation. He is one passionate person who may be underrated and not fully appreciated. Such people as Pathisa Nyathi deserve funding from Ndebele community members and business persons to do further research and writing. And African Universities ought to give such people writing fellowships and residencies.

    Very insightful. The stories of many powerful women in traditional Nguni societies are quite fascinating.

    So it is not proper to continue naming that Khumalo chieftainship Mabhikwa as it was a forename to an individual, as now those who don't have access to these detailed historical facts will never know where & hw it came from.

    Please explain why u call yourself Ndebele cause Mzilikazi was Zulu even your surname is Zulu your culture is similar from the one In KZN .your have nothing in common with Ndebele even the language & culture is different

    • @mrm.makhubu1748
      @mrm.makhubu1748 Год назад +4

      The same reason why many call themselves Zulu, when they come from either the Ndwandwe nation or Mthethwa confederacy... People call themselves what is familiar to themselves at that time... Mzikikazi chose to start his own nation 1000km away from home and called it Ndebele. Mzilikazi was a nephew of Zwide, therefore never really a Zulu, as the Zulu state was just starting up when he left what is now Zululand. That was around 1821 about 2 or so years after Shaka turned the Mthethwa Confederacy, which was about to fall into the Ndwandwe nation into a Zulu nation.

      What you call yourself rarely becomes your name. The ndebele got their name (misnomer if you like) from sotho-tswana tribes they encountered on their flight north from Tshaka. They referred to them as men of the long cowhide shields "matebele" which evolved into amandebele, the Ndebele.

      I think its the Sotho groups they encountered who refered to Nguni groups as Matebele. Just like the Zulus sometimes refer to other people as MaShangane even those that are not even connected to Shangaan. I guess the name stuck
