Just a heads up for anyone wanting to do this for real. Wire nuts are not a reliable option to use in an automotive application. The constant vibrations have been known to make the wire nuts come loose and shorts caused by that have caused cars to catch on fire. Soldering is the recommended option.
Good to know. Thanks for saying that in a useful, helpful way. A few other comments about the wire nuts weren't helpful as to WHY it wasn't the best option. I really do appreciate it. Thanks!
Also, to run the wires through the firewall, if the existing hole doesn’t have a grommet, or you have to drill a new hole, make sure to install one to prevent the wires chafing and causing a short.
Sure glad you said something and here I was going to fuck up the whole thing using wire nuts gosh you think that you just give him credit for coming up some creative that you can come up with now you got to criticize the wire nuts get the fuck out of here

In case you didn't already hear about it, Prusa announced a multi-material mod launching soon (preorder available now, but in beta until the end of November). Basically allows multiple filaments, preferably the same temperature requirements. Modelling might be a bit tricky though - sounds like you need to model up what you want each color to fill as a separate model so the slicer postscript can figure out which extruder motor to run for each area on each layer.
love it! When I had my electronics business we used to call Pyle stuff Pyle-O-Crap! So if this project stops working out of the blue, look at that piece first as the culprit. keep up the great work Bob!
I made this for my bug thanks to your video. Excellent, easy project. I found WAV files on boomblasters. They also have premade programmable car horns for anyone who doesn't want to make one.
Haha, this is great... it's nice to have a car you can customize :) in my youth I installed a windshield water pump to my back bumper, with a nice toggle switch on the dash, so I could spray the cars behind me. This did result in my getting punched in the face once... but it was still worth it. 🤓 👍🏼
Cool thanks Bob! My dad used to have a 50-60s limo that played music like that. I listen to the Podcasts more than I watch the shows, so you look different 'cause I'm always picturing Eric from that 70's show when listening.

It's the same morons that put their turning blinker on WHILE turning at the last possible second (usually way too late) too!
Bob, you're a dork and that's a good thing. Lol. This is great, there is literally no limit on what you can put on there for sounds, and it's easily re-programmable.

An amazing project very very very well done! One thing I found because I will be putting this in my car is that the adafruit audio fx soundboard link you included doesn't have the headphone jack for audio out, just something to keep in mind
Thank you. Im wondering if a radial dial, say 1-8 would also work instead of multiple buttons. -cool project. Wait, you could use the radial dial, then hook it to your actual horn. So youd select then simply honk your horn. Great info bro. Gonna do it.
Really important point you’re making about choosing the right cigarette lighter. On my Chevy, the cigarette lighter on the left is controlled by the ignition whereas the one on the right is always on which is nice if you want to charge your phone while the vehicle is off. The easiest way to test for this if you have a phone charger is to plug it in with your phone attached and see what happens with each cigarette lighter when you turn the ignition switch on or off.
This is awesome! I would love to do this for my motorcycle but I don't have a cigarette lighter on that like I do my car. I'm guessing I would just need to wire my own custom horn to get it's power from the battery, right?
Love this idea! What is your recommendation for the type of output (horn) for motorcycle set up? That horn you are using is way to big for a motorcycle lol

Crimp & Seal & Solder
***** as an electrical engineer (yet to graduate) ive learned that solder in high vibrantion applications can crack and break. That is why when you take ANY vital car electronical part, such as the airbag inflator, you see that some components are mechanically connected and not soldered on.
Now that ive given you why I know solder is worst, tell me from your view how it is the best. I genuinely like to know.
Hi. Thanks for the advice. What would be the best alternative to soldering in that case?
SMH. Wire nuts in auto application should be your last choice. Soldering only withayne some electrical tape second to last option (unless your really good a soldering and have some magical means of preventing a short). Mechanical crimp and heat shrink is the second best option. Solider mechanical crimp and heat shrink is the best way to insure against power loss due to corrosion.

First off, I love your videos, well produced, interesting and educational, keep it up!
Secondly, a quick tip on making equally spaced features in CAD. It looked like you placed individual constraints on each hole, which takes time. Instead, you could place one hole and then use a pattern (rectangular in this case) to place the rest. It's simpler and quicker, especially when you have to place many features. There's also circular patterns that are great for when you need to make, for example, a few screw holes in a motor hold-down plate, since you can rotate the feature around the axle hole.
