So essentially it is looking to see if you are signing in with an individual account, like artur.rzasa@domain.com, or a Room account, like conference.room2@domain.com. Room accounts have different licensing requirements, and can be set to auto-accept meeting invites for room scheduling purposes. Hope that helps!
Josh, I just watched this video and successfully loaded the Teams firmware on a new CP960. After rebooting the screen takes several minutes to boot up and indicates “Please import the license” and shows the IP address of the phone. Any suggestions on next steps from here? I am fully licensed on Teams. Thank you.
Unfortunately I am not well versed on the latest with Yealink equipment, and no longer have this device. You may need to check with Yealink about the license issue as it relates to their products, NOT Teams.
Can you tell me where you got the teams firmware jggibsonoh? I’m trying to upgrade my device to teams but on the yealink website it does not specify which firmware is for teams
@@Kj70721 Today i made this mistake and upgraded to teams without getting the licence first. After firmupdate cant add licence cuz its initializing so i bricked it :)
Yes, if you log into the phone via the web access GUI, you can do a Factory Reset. You can also snag the Skype for Business firmware for the device from their website: support.yealink.com/documentFront/forwardToDocumentDetailPage?documentId=240
@@ExpertOfThings the factory reset didn't rollback the firmware for me. I had to download the original firmware version and reflash it, but then I shipped mine back to amazon.
Get-CsJosh thanks Josh. Found out via their website that you need to contact support for a license. I have obtained this and now up and running. Thanks 🙏
Just purchased the phone from Amazon. Shipped from TechData on 2-28-19 with Firmware v 73.80.0.80. I was able to download the Yealink teams firmware to vCP960-73.15.0.26.rom . Mine took about 10 min to install the firmware, and came back from the logo with a MS team logo on white screen saying "Please import the license" and had my local IP listed. When i sign in to the web browser and go to Security > License it has a spot to upload a *.dat file. Where do I get this file?
@@ExpertOfThings I had to re-register with my work email (not a distribution box) and I received an activation email within 10 minutes. Now I can apply for a temporary license for 180 days. The support ticket said " (Note: As an end user, you can only apply for a Temporary License, if you would like to apply for a permanent license in the future, please contact your distributor.)" . I might return this phone to Amazon and buy the teams version from the MS Website for $84 more. This is a mess.
Actually, I am returning the phone for a few months until the MS Teams Rooms with voice is all baked out. Then I will try a POC again. Its just not there yet for someone that wants a nice integrated Teams admin setup.
Unfortunately, a quick search on my part in the Admin Guide did not provide a useful answer to this. You may need to contact their Support team, as I do not see much on the internet for this either...
My question is more towards Microsoft licensing. What type of license does the user need in order to successfully sign into Teams once the upgrade is complete? We keep having issues with it looping to sign-in as well as the error "oops - you can't get to this yet" or "your device is out of compliance." Anyone have experience with this? We use Microsoft licensing alongside Intune.
i would suggest login to Intune management azure portal and look for the device compliance to rule out the exact cause. You could do this from the phone's Intune device compliance check as well.
Can you still use the basic voip phone or will all calls now go through teams?
Great video, actually using this to evaluate a teams conf phone :)
Any idea if this can be used as a teams room shared account that can be booked?
Nice video. Thanks, Josh!
Hey Josh, nice vid. Do you have any details on the difference in experience if between the personal and shared phone question when logging in?

Josh, if I am on MS Business Essentials would I be able to log into this phone? or do I need to purchase a Phone system license? Plus a Calling plan?
Could the teams account also work with an SIP account ?
After upgrading I keep getting an error: Unfortunately Teams has stopped. Any ideas?
Have you tried hooking up a webcam to it? If so which model? Thank you
No, I never tried that

Have you try to upgrade from Android?
Hi, do you know if it is possible to do a roll back to a Yealink factory mode, if Teams is not working properly ?

No direct knowledge of that one, unfortunately. You probably have to get with Yealink's support team for that...

@@russellkeys Correct, seems there are actually additional licenses required for Skype or Teams firmware editions.
