Interesting question, is there any way to draw a straight line completely encircling the globe that is entirely in the ocean? Could the world serpent wrap around the world while remaining underwater? Also, the rise of a serpent of this epic scale would lower the global sea level, right? another thing to think about.
Since circling the globe gets smaller when you get more north and south with the largest diameter being the equator so to finally answer the question asked 3 years ago yes if your north/south enough

the "major bible vibes" bit could easily be less of a coincidence than you'd think: the poetic edda was in church possession for quite some time (~4 centuries), it's got a whole lotta pieces missing including a large number back to back that look an awful lot like a story or two literally ripped out, ragged edges and all. rewriting is quite possible (or even the book being entirely fabricated) and frankly it's surprising that it exists at all considering that it's a compilation of the oral tradition of another pantheon

There’s a neat RPG set in a world where the World Serpent exists and totally ruins the planet called ‘The Day After Ragnarok’.
The gist of it is that it’s 1945, and the Nazis try to harness the Norse pantheon to win WWII. Instead they awaken the World Serpent and it starts growing and encircling the world. It gets colossally huge, and in a last ditch effort, the USA flies the Enola Gay into its eye and blows its goddamn head off with an atomic bomb.
The problem is, it’s so huge that it’s height exceeds the flight ceiling of any airplane, essentially cutting off large parts of the globe. Also it’s decomposing, releasing toxic chemicals that are poisoning the planet. Oh also there’s also the thing’s giant corpse laying across huge swaths of the planet.

It is possible that when the ledgond mentions Thor, it would have been an example of hero worship. Meaning, the world serpent might either demand to fight our champion, or make us extinct to keep a Thor from ever apearing in the first place.

Considering the entire world's nuclear stockpile would only have the power to destroy an island, even if they all went off at once, this basically means that no weapon on Earth would be able to so much as tickle the beast. This also means however, that it would likely not bother to attack us, since we would be less than ants to it.
